Coco's on the Green is not a consignment store. It's a resale shop where the overflow from Double Exposure in Darien lands. The busiest day of the year for the shop is the Branford Festival day when newcomers discover this gem. Sales associate Alyssa Merrick told me the shop is known for its costume jewelry and special occasion dresses including this Nanette Lepore two-piece for $58 with the tags still on (see photo). The couture section boasted a Bill Blass knit top for $28, numerous St. John items and a crazy pair of Moschino slacks. Anyone with a size 6 foot will make out like a bandit in the shoe department. This is one of my favorite stores to shop in. While it's not a consignment shop, sometimes it feels that way with all the little surprises in each rack. The clothing is high quality and very unique. Every time I go, I've gotten at least one thing, like skirts, shoes, jackets, and a variety of very fun pants. The sales are unbeatable, and the everyday prices are a great value for the brands. I'm very happy to see that they're now fully open for business and everyone cooperated wearing masks and having a plastic barrier at the register. I just wish they had an online boutique! read more

I'm so surprised at the negative reviews based on one anonymous person's account of an incident there. I've been to this store many times. The clothing they sell is high end, in great condition (sometimes new) at very reasonable prices - and even more so when they have any of their many sales. I have never left without something and it is a pleasure to shop there. The customer service has been friendly and accommodating each time. I was raised to support other women and agree with women empowering women. This store is owned by a woman and is true to what they promise and I empower women by being a customer of women owned businesses. Only one person witnessed this incident in the store, personalized it and did not even identify herself, yet several women piled on with negative reviews about the store, willing to drive it into the ground without truly knowing the whole story. This is not empowering women - this is reactionary mob culture - the kind that is often found in high school cafeterias and fueled by social media. A side note - I'm a mother of 3 children. If I brought them into a store with that close quarters and they were restless and crying "after some time" I would honor them (and the other shoppers) by taking them elsewhere where they could play and get their energy out. read more

Rating after reading this Fbook post: I was just at COCOs on the green in BRANFORD. A mom was trying to shop with a toddler who was crying and fussy. After some time a store employee said, "your baby seems very unhappy maybe you can come back another time." The Mom calmly asked if the worker was bothered by her child and if this was problematic. The worker said "if it continues it will be" and added that it would deter others from shopping. The mom politely asked what the employees's role was in the store and the woman identified herself as the store owner. The Mom quietly gathered her items at the front of the store, even offering to put the items back where she found them. I walked over to ask if I could help in anyway. She declined and tearfully explained that she doesn't get much help and that she was just trying to get her mother something for Mother's Day . As she was hurriedly trying to get her toddler situated in the stroller, I similarly abandoned the things I had in my hand and on my way out I let the owner know that I would not return to the store. I grew up with a single mom and my brother and I were a lot to handle at our best! I could not help but to imagine my mom in a similar situation and my heart broke for this young mom. To the owner who shamed this Mom attempting to honor and celebrate her own, shame on you! Next Sunday is Mother's Day. Give thanks to your mom, a maternal figure, or women in general because without them, nothing is possible. At the very least, BE KIND. Thank you to all the moms out there, especially to my very own . WORST experience ever. Decent items - awful customer service. Run if you see the tall girl with glasses, she is snotty. Beware.

This is a great place to find both new and gently used designer clothing at very good prices! Quaint and upscale, I love stopping in and seeing what's new. Something for everyone, truly. Worth a trip, and usually always have some type of sale going on! Love that they post new merchandise on their Facebook page, too! read more

This is an amazing store! It is hit or miss, but when you hit it, it is out of the park. Most of my favorite, unique articles of clothing come from this store. I get complements all of the time from clothes that I have purchased at Coco's. Items are one of a kind, and the best labels are for sale here. The staff is always friendly and helpful. This is a hidden gem. They have beautiful gently or never used merchandise. I am not usually a second hand shopper but this store had tuns of never worn fabulous designer with out the outrageous price tag. Definitely worth a walk through read more

I have been in this store when this woman and her children were there. #1.if your children are fussy, take them home. Get a sitter. Bring stickers, coloring books etc. #2. One of these kids climbs behind the window display and runs all over. If something fell on that kid, guess who would sue? I think you are being very unfair to her. When I worked part-time at the Learning Express in Guilford, a child climbed up an acrylic display and the mother was no where to be found. So the manager said, "No honey, you'll get hurt" and took him down. The mother went ballistic and said," How dare you discipline my child. You should have come and gotten me." Seriously??? Then we got a letter how traumatized this child was. Keep kids on a strict schedule. Not YOUR schedule, theirs. I NEVER had a problem with bad behavior with my girls. Breakfast 7:30 am, lunch about noon, nap at 1:30.Bed/storytime at 7. People, it's ok to discipline your child. They won't be traumatized. And someone suggested protesting the store??? Are you freaking kidding me? I bet you weren't there. Support small business, don't trash them. And there are TWO sides to every story. read more
