We absolutely LOVE the staff at Coconuts! Not only are the drinks fantastic, the food is terrific! Where else can you sit poolside, with a view of the beach and enjoy a few libations! Even the kiddos will be well cared for with fantastic smoothies and if you're lucky.....a Florida snowball fight! No fancy clothing necessary. Throw on your cover up or wear your bikini! Absolutely love this place. Found this place on yelp and read some good reviews so we gave it a try. We had the best drinks. They also have some really great appetizers the wings were amazing they bbq they. We highly recommend them. It has a nice feel being poolside at a nice resort also you can see the ocean from the tables/bar. They have bar seats as well as tables which is nice if you have kids. They have great service. We will definitely be returning soon! read more

Great view and great drinks. Food was good. Quality not in line with the price, but tasty. Absolute unacceptable is that the management charges an automatic 18% gratuity, but does not have enough staff to deliver the service that one expects for 18% tip. Management rewards their staff with tips that they would likely not get because management won't/can't hire appropriate staff. Seems like a racket. We had separate checks - 2 and 6 in our party of 8. The couple received their God. Party of 6 waiting, and waiting. Then the tables of 2 and 3 that were seated near us, but well after us started getting theirs. I finally spoke up and was basically told that's the way it is. Just one of many reasons that it took us 90 minutes to eat lunch. I really felt bad for the servers that were busting their tails to try to keep up because they are understaffed. But not too bad. They did, after all, get an automatic 18% tip for pretty lousy service. read more

I have been to many fun happy hours here and just had a very bad experience. The bartenders were both incredibly rude and seemed very inconvenienced to wait on us. We brought guests from out of town and after raving about what a great place this is for afternoon drinks we were disappointed in the service. May have to find a new happy hour hangout. read more

Stopped off on our way into town. Nice being right by the water. Sat poolside and could stand to see the ocean. Nice location. Daiquiri average. I had crispy grouper sandwich that was good. Husband had Mojo pork. Very mediocre. The biggest drawback was food took a considerable time to come. Waited a long time plus 18% gratuity added automatically. We typically tip 20+% so this was annoying. Wouldn't go back. If you stay there it is likely super convenient but I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to try this. read more

My family and I came on a busy weekend for a late lunch. We waited for a table for about 20 minutes, you have to grab one you see, everyone is hovering around and there were some really aggressive folks. The waiter brought us waters and immediately told us we had a lot of menus (3 for 4 people) and said he needed to take one. We then waited for 20 minutes to even place a drink order. When I ordered, I tried to use my yelp check in offer for a bud light and the waiter laughed and said "oh that was supposed to end like two years ago." And I never got the bud light. We waited over 40 minutes for our food to come out. All of our sweet potato fries were cold. The burger is very small. The shrimp and crab quesadillas were ok, not great. The salad with fruit and candies pecans was good. The grouper sandwich was pretty good. I had it grilled. The atmosphere was nice as it's located by the pool. Overall, I'm just disappointed with management. It was a long weekend with lots of tourists in the area so there should've been more staff. The waiters were so stressed out, grumpy and running around. And the overly priced food didn't make up for the wait time and the lack of service. Also they add 18% gratuity which I'm sure doesn't help with the servers' attitudes towards customers. read more

Yikes! This was a terrible experience! We ordered our drinks and food and received our drinks. We waited over an hour for our food and while waiting we weren't checked on for additional drinks. The food was just ok. My husband asked for malt vinegar for his fish and finally received it after he'd eaten most of his sandwich. My burger was close to a hockey puck and didn't come with any sauce - just lettuce, tomato and onion. This was off-season (August) and it was sprinkling so clearly NOT a lot of customers. The icing on the cake... they charge an automatic gratuity! PLEASE consider looking at any other option on Sanibel for a meal!!! There are many other options to choose from. read more

Saw an advertisement for Coconuts, a part of Casa Ybel resort, and had to check it out. The photos do not do it justice. It's a great poolside bar with a small food menu with a fantastic view of the water. They have a great tropical/frozen drink menu and I recommend hitting up their happy hour from 3-5p for some good deals. The food was good as well, I recommend the calamari - a great portion and prize (for the same amount as three jumbo shrimp cocktail). It is such a lovely place to enjoy being outside and being in SWFL! read more

Very good meal and convenient pool side location. We enjoyed the seared tuna tacos and also the chicken flatbread. I hold one star back because the tuna was a bit over cooked, despite asking me my preference during the order, and we had to wait much longer for our food than we were told. An enjoyable experience that is both pool side and ocean side. Friendly staff that makes you feel part of the community and very accommodating. Their grill wasn't working and my side order was incorrect but neither were a big deal to us. The Banana Foster specialty drink was a liquid dessert and overall the food was good. Don't expect a quick bite or fast service. Popped in here looking for some Nachos based on online menu. The placard out front of restaurant also confirmed they have Nachos. Once we found a table it was about 15 minutes before anyone took our drink order. Took 10 minutes to get them delivered while no less than 2 more servers asked about our drinks. 5 minutes after drinks delivered we were finally able to place food order. Don't expect Nachos, they aren't on the menu inside. According to our server it's been a year since they changed the menu! After ordering 1 burger and 6 wings it took an hour to deliver our food. Nobody came to check on us while we waited. Once food delivered there was no check in on the taste. Our plans for time at the beach were cut short by the snails pace. I even overheard the table next to us comment on the automatic 18% gratuity and no wonder they didn't have to work hard. My thought exactly. Our server stopped at several tables to visit even after we asked for our check. Don't plan on going back again. read more

This was a great find! We were on a day trip to Sanibel/Captiva and looking for a quick place to get a drink. This is a pool bar serving Casa Ybel Resort in Sanibel. What a lovely place! The bartenders were all so friendly and replaced one of our spilled drinks no questions asked. I also asked if they could make a drink I had in Hawaii - a Lava Flow- and the bartender was up for it. I showed him the recipe and he was happy to do it. Delicious! We didn't stay at the hotel but I have to say the grounds and beach were lovely and it was all I could do to refrain from jumping in the pool. So pretty! I highly recommend Coconuts and hope one day I get to try out the resort. read more

We have owned time share at CasaYBel since the mid 80's and have always enjoyed and looked forward to eating at Coconuts with our children now with our grandchildren as well, their favorite is sitting at the bar ordering smoothes. This year adding the outside grill made me want to write a review. The service is always friendly,attentive & very pleasant servers that makes for an even better experience.Kenny has been there a long time always with a smile and Chris energetic always wanting to make you happy and the rest of the servers follow their lead with great service. I have a Gluten Free Diet and Richardo the grill chef and a excellent cook was extremely knowledgable,helpful and accommodating to me which kept me and my family coming back for meals.
