Coconuts is basically an outdoor beach bar, located at the pool of the Casa Ybel hotel. Great location, just a short walk on the beach from where we stayed. Observations: * The drinks weren't too watered-down. * Prices were a little on the high side, in my opinion. Gratuity is included on the bill, which is a little strange. * Food quality was pretty decent. I had one of the small pizzas around lunch time, and it was good.

3 stars for location. Minus 1 for crappy piped in tinny sounding C and W music. Minus 1 for outrageous pricing $150 for 3 sandwiches, 2 draft beers and 2 Margheritas.

A perfect beach bar for every visitor! The location is a little deceiving because it is located next to vacation condos and a pool, but it ended up being a cute little spot nearly on the beach. The cucumber mojito is the most refreshing thing I've ever tasted. The tuna tacos are so fresh they taste like the fish was caught minutes before eating it. Coconuts is YUUUUUMMY!

This place is a bit tricky to find, so here's the Easy Mode way to get in. Go to the Casa Ybel resort, park anywhere. Don't go to Thistle's, but instead go to the pool. You'll see a bar stand with the Coconuts sign and some tables. Even if you're not staying at the hotel, you can park for free and eat here, so don't get discouraged. Grab a table under an umbrella next to the pool, and you're at Coconuts! Lunch only, but the food is pretty solid - especially considering it's at a resort. Wife had a shrimp wrap she said was great, and I had a good burger. Some good frozen drinks went well, and live music is always a plus. It's stupid hot though, as soon as the breeze stops the temperature skyrockets, so ask for water. Pretty pricey, but keep in mind they roll in an 18% gratuity into your bill, so no need to tip extra if you don't want to. However, service is really good (even eliciting a "that guy is pretty cool" from our jaded cynical teen), so you may just leave extra. At places that have tip included, the servers can fart on your food right in front of you, well-knowing they're still getting like 1/5 of your bill. So when they are actually doing a good job on top of that, it goes a long way.

We own 2 weeks at the resort in late Aug and Sept. Now that we moved to Estero, we frequent Coconuts on some weekend afternoons. Not only do we live love love the food, but we also love the service! Heather is the one who we always request as she always makes us feel so tended to. It's tough to find good service these days, but Heather always goes above and beyond. Chickie tenders for the kids and grouper for all of us. All was delicious. Oh!! And best French fries anywhere!!!

Beautiful setting, one of the best on the island. But service very slow at the bar. Staff seemed frustrated, uninterested. A shame. Poolside bar at Normandie Restaurant down the road better staffed and friendlier with an equally stunning setting...

    Can one use the pool?

Hi. When we were there last month, I saw a sign next to the pool that said "Guests Only", or something like that. It didn't look like there was anyone around to enforce it, but for the most part, all the pool users appeared to be hotel guests as… Read more

The place is casual, rustic, and come as you are. Got our drinks pdq. We decided to share a combo pot. But after some soup. Got the conch chowder. It came in a large, pretty plastic conch "shell". It was slightly spicy, but not much. In fact, there's hot sauces on the table if you need more heat. There was a nice amount of ground conch pieces in a tasty tomato based broth. It was big enough to share, btw. Then we got their combo steamed pot -- 1 dozen clams and 1 dozen oysters. This takes awhile to cook as we knew it would. So if you get one of these, order soup or an app while you're waiting. The clams are the cedar key ones. Small but tasty. We didn't use the melted butter, but asked for cocktail sauce instead. The oysters -- which you have to shuck with the provided knives -- were wonderful! I'd probably get all oysters next time. In the bottom of the pot are celery and onions which you can also eat. So glad we got to come here and enjoy lunch. We will be back next time on island.

My catch of the day fish sandwich was good and nice that I could substitute a Caesar instead of having to have the fries. My husband loved his shrimp scampi, and daughter enjoyed her ribs. He treated us like family, & took such good care of us. We started with cocktails: Miami Vice, Pina Colada, & a Pain Killer at Nicks suggestion. They were all delicious. Next up shared appetizers of smoked fish dip & crab cakes. I usually dislike crab cakes, but I wanted to eat all of them. The smoked fish dip was delicious too & whoever thought of frying the saltines is a genius! For our meals we each got a lunch for dinner platter which was plenty of food with the accompanying house made chips & super ripe fruit. Two of us got the coconut shrimp. They were large, fresh & delicious, very heavy on the batter. The pineapple dipping sauce was perfect with them. Two in our party got salmon & said it was excellent. They ate every bite of it. One of us devoured his lobster roll with great enjoyment. The only non- seafood eater had what he described as a really good burger. He's like Mikey from Life cereal, he hates everything...so that's very high praise for the burger. For dessert we shared both the chocolate cake & key lime pie. I usually don't like Key Lime pie because it's almost always too sweet. But theirs is amazing. Dense, creamy & very tangy, with grated lime zest all throughout the pie. The cake was delicious too. There wasn't a bite of anything left. The ambience is great. Very nautical with lovely views. The exterior is very pretty, & inside it is cozy, casual & approachable. The a/c works really well too. The servers were all cheerful & the other diners seemed to be enjoying themselves. It was such a great overall experience. Highly recommend!

The bistro was bustling with full tables. The place has a great vibe and is comfortable and very pleasantly decorated. It reminded us of some of the places we frequented when we lived in Paris. The owner is French as was our waitress, Angelika. We shared two orders of Escargots which were excellent. Salads were served between the courses as a palette cleanser. And then on to two Boeuf Bourguignons for the ladies. My friend had a medium-rare Filet de Boeuf and I had a Canard a l'Orange (one of my favorite dishes) also medium-rare. Each of the dishes was exceptional. For drinks we had sparkling water and a decent house Pinot Noir. My friend took a nonalcoholic wine and a beer. We ended up with an excellent Lemon Cream and I had to have an espresso. The meal was expensive ($332 to which I added a $70 tip) but it was all well worth it. We were visiting from the Boston area, and if we lived in the vicinity we would undoubtedly be regular patrons. I seldom give a restaurant five stars but this one deserves it. I will recommend highly the place. It was one of the best French meals and restaurants at which we have dined in the States.
