It's a drive thru bakery. I heard great things about the brownie so I purchased one today. I was told they also sell ice cream. I was tempted but I didn't buy any. I also purchased a slice of the scrumptious famous caramel cake. Today I received a bonus slice along with the container size piece. I ate the bonus size first. It was so good! So i promised my daughter i would take her here when they open again , on how i with i hadn't. I ordered the lemon cake and it didn't let me repeat did not have any flavor of lemon or any other flavor i could recognize. It was like eating kids playdo ugh. My daughter had the German chocolate and it wasnt as bad as mines, but still nasty. Truthfully all i tasted coconuts on a dry cake and it didn't have any flavor of being german chocolate. Only downsides are hours of operation and distance from me. Anytime I'm in the area I call my nephew and ask and make a pit stop, the cake never changes , consistently good and worth the trip. The product: The cake was superb. I am not a food critical nor can I bake anything. I even had trouble with my easy bake oven but I purchased three different kinds of cake from this bakery just so I could taste different varieties. Every one of those cakes were consistently moist and melted in my mouth. I am a picky eater so I don't eat everything but I had the 6 layer cake with chocolate icing, 2 of the strawberry cakes and a butter pound cake. All delicious. The Customer service: sucked. I felt the girl who waited on me was rude and I drove 30 minutes for her to look past me and attempt to serve the people waiting behind me; until I gave her that look of death. Then when she did wait on me she kept saying she couldn't hear me. Cakes by CoCo has been a favorite spot of mine for as long as he has been open. My favorite had been the caramel, but the turtle pecan one has quickly usurped that space. I was visiting Atlanta and place an order for almost $400 worth of cake to return with me to Durham. I gave a Pineapple Supreme to one of my friends and she is STILL talking about it today. Hands down these are the best cakes in the Tucker area! Cococakes is located in a plaza near Hugh Howell parkway. There is plenty of parking and they have a drive thru too. The owner of the place is really nice and personable. Sometimes, when he is cooking a new cake he'll offer a sample of it which is really nice. I can tell he takes pride in his shop and business! All the staff are friendly too. As for the cakes, there is so much to choose from. Also, they have ice cream, yay! My favorite cake flavors are the German chocolate (best seller get it before they run out for the day), butter cream pound cake, marble pound cake, coconut cake and so many more. All the cakes are moist and have a wonderful rich flavor to them. Kind of glad I don't live close by because I'll be here all the time that they're open.
