    Windfall latte, Churro waffle
    Andrea A.

And thus concludes my tour of all the Cocoa Cinnamons in Durham! Here, I tried the Windfall latte hot (has chocolate hazelnut syrup and garnished with Malabar black pepper); it was tasty, not too sweet but I do wish I got a little more of the pepper. However, this is where my rating goes down because eating the churro waffle was quite unpleasant. It was not at all crispy (so floppy that I couldn't really even take it out the bag) and had WAY too much cinnamon powder on it and not enough sugar; it was warm though. Not sure if this was just a one-off experience or what, but definitely a bit of a bummer bc the concept is enticing. Service and ambiance are great; definitely on the smaller side compared to the Chapel Hill Rd location, but comparable to the W Geer St location. There is a small parking lot as well as free street parking. 7/10 for everything but 0/10 for the waffle haha.

Cool place with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, but really poor quality of coffee and matcha drinks. The takeaway is - don't waste your money if you care about the drinks themselves. Otherwise, it looks like a nice spot to sit down and hangout.

We stopped in for a quick drink before starting our day. I got a chai latte and a chocolate chip and almond butter oat bowl. The chai latte tasted a bit watered down, I wish it had a stronger chai flavor. The oat ball was cold, almost frozen, when I got it so I had to wait quite a while to eat it. The inside of this shop was cute, though the indoor seating wasn't comfortable, it was just wooden benches. They did have outdoor seating as well. It took a while to get to order our drinks, but our drinks came out quickly.

My friend and I came here for coffee on a Sunday morning. Our barista was friendly and helpful. I got a vanilla latte with macadamia nut milk and it was really good and not too sweet. It was a beautiful, sunny day so we sat at the tables outside. The coffee, atmosphere, and service were great, I just wish the coffee wasn't so expensive (it was almost 7$ for a small latte)!

The ambiance is very Durham, hipster vibes (in a good way). I like the little tables used. They reminded me of a hacienda. The coffee I tried was the carmello. It was really good but the coffee was a little weak. That didn't bother me though. The service was fast and simple. I will say the one thing that surprised me was the cost for two coffees was $15 and that's why it's missing a star, but i rather give money to them then Starbucks.

The second "link" in the Durham chain that is Cocoa Cinnamon, this location provides a great sidewalk seating area, and now indoor tables as well. When they moved in here a few years back, they spent a lot of time and thought on the interior design. While the pandemic forced some changes, CC has a huge community that loves them and pushed to help keep them thriving. They provide living wages for their very diverse staff, as well as creative drinks and local pastries. This morning, the music is smooth jazzy, but some afternoons, things can get a bit rockier. Stop by and grab a cuppa!

This was such a cute place! It's small and cozy on the inside. There's community tables and benches for your leisure. The staff are wonderful Batistas! The coffee is exquisite! I will be back again!

This is one of my favorite coffee shops ever and I find myself at this location the most since it's closest to where I live. The coffee and pastries are always delicious--I particularly recommend the pumpkin chai muffin and the ham and cheese croissant (pictured). And the Al mocha is my favorite drink! Service is always great, everyone is so kind + they play great music!

Yonderlust is more than just a coffee shop--it's one of those spaces where you can easily spend an entire afternoon without realizing how much time has passed. It's a fantastic study and work spot: a mix of table sizes, plenty of outlets, and a relatively quiet, calm environment that makes it easy to settle in. It has solid coffee: Drinks here are consistently pretty good. I usually go for their Campfire Latte (a signature for a reason) or whatever seasonal syrup they're featuring, and their matcha latte is reliable too. It has actual, warm food: simple but satisfying sandwiches with enough variety to make for a perfect study snack or light lunch. I am often disappointed when coffee shops only offer cold pastries. It has entertainment: I love taking a quick study break to browse the shop's outdoor gear and clothing; it honestly feels a little like being transported to the West Coast for a moment (give me some Oregan vibes!). Service has always been quick and friendly. I wouldn't say any single thing here is the best in Durham--but together, it is special! There are many days when I find myself craving a few cozy hours at Yonderlust, followed by a quick dessert next door at Rose's.

The Deets: I had brunch with some friends that live in Durham and after the meal, they directed me to stop into Yonderlust for a coffee beverage stop instead of having one at the restaurant. We stopped by and ducked into the cafe side...I say cafe side as 2/3 of the space there is an outfitters/apparel shop and the other part houses the coffee shop/cafe. The cafe side (as well as the apparel shop) is very nicely done inside, very appealing and clean. The coffee seating area was packed, it appears to be a great place to stop and sit/work a spell even on a Sunday. Ordering moved through fairly quickly and I put in my request for a hot skim latte to the very nice and positive person at the register. The wait was not long before my beverage was completed, and your beverage/name are both called out to pick up when it's ready. I did manage to find one lone chair to sit and drink my tasty beverage while my friends did some shopping in the apparel side. I enjoyed my latte, I'd most definitely stop in again when in the area.

Also, if you come to this location, you must get the churros!! My family was saying that they were the best churros we've all ever had. They are perfectly fried and coated in sugar - yummmmm! The inside of Cocoa Cinnamon is very cute. The area around it seems like it could be a little iffy, but there wasn't much foot traffic in the morning, so it stayed pretty calm and quiet.

A small order of churros is four, which is still a lot for one person. They come covered in flavor and sugar and dipping sauces are extra. I got a holiday-themed sugar coating with cinnamon and some other spices. It was nicely aromatic, and the churros were freshly made in plain sight. Ordering a drinking chocolate got me a fairly strong and straightforward beverage. I might have been better served adding some extra flavors for the chocolate or getting some dipping sauce for the churros might have been a good idea but would have been overkill for me on this occasion. The location has communal indoor seating which was quite crowded, as well as several outdoor tables in a suburban part of town.
