Hands down, one of the best sushi restaurants I've ever eaten at! The sushi was exceptional in…read morequality, taste and presentation. And the staff is incredibly friendly, attentive and accommodating. I wish I lived closer so I can have it again, but we were driving from Seattle to Banff.

Disappointed with my lunch today. My wife and I been coming here for years while on our way to or…read morefrom Harrison Hot Springs - all good experiences. But today things were different. The chap who seated us rattled off a lengthy explanation about several daily specials or what was/wasn't available. After he finished I asked my wife if she had understood any of it, because I hadn't. She hadn't either. Then the waitress came to take our order. My wife ordered the bibimbap. I ordered the lunch bento, salmon. The waitress said something about BC salmon and an extra charge--and I agreed. I asked to have the salmon made without teriyaki sauce - and she said something about another charge. Our food came out pretty quickly and my wife was satisfied with her bibimbap. Unfortunately my bento wasn't right. First, they had neglected to put on the wasabi and ginger for the sashimi, so I had to ask for it. Then I noticed that there was no rice. So I summoned the waitress and asked if the bento was supposed to come with rice (I've been eating bento for years and have NEVER had one that didn't come with rice). She said it didn't, and offered to bring some. I declined as I was starting to wonder what I'd gotten myself into. How was the taste? The sashimi was fresh and good, and much tastier with wasabi and ginger. The hunk of cooked BC salmon on a bed of sautéed cabbage was also good. But alas the tempura was very oddly seasoned. The batter was too sweet, as if they were making donuts. We finished our meal and the check arrived. $2 up charge for the BC salmon. Okay I guess. But $3 up charge to not put teriyaki sauce on my salmon? Come on.

My experience here has been very good! And both times I went…read morewith my family, we got a complimentary plate of something. (And it was good!) ATMOSPHERE: The restaurant interior is not fancy but it sure is classic Japanese looking. c: Initially we were seated at a booth in the corner, it was a good place for some introverted people! SERVICE: A bit strange because my mother-in-law and husband ordered sake and I asked for a coke but I got ID'd? At the same time, I think the waitress knew my husband and my mother-in-law enough to know they were over 21, so maybe that's why. Some of the food came before the sake, and I think it would've been good to have it come first so that you can relax for about 5 minutes? That being said, who could complain about getting food quickly? lol Later when we moved to the bar, it was especially nice. The waittress recommended a spicy (dragon or something?) roll to us and it was quite nice. The chef is very friendly too even though he's a little shy. Overall, good service! c: FOOD: I have to say that hands down, the ocean roll was my favorite. The crab meat goes perfectly in it!! Would highly recommend that one. The Philadelphia roll (with salmon and cream cheese) we got was also pretty good. My husband got a miso soup that was nice and salty. My experience with miso has been that it was more watery and had less flavor to it--but this was pretty good. Would definitely go here again.

4 things... 1)…read moretaste - fresh, quality sushi 2) portions - small, minute, did not fill me up 3) service - typical Asians super nice and welcoming 4) price - unfortunately overpriced compared to other spots (for the portion your getting) OVERALL: 3.5 stars, would recommend drive a little further for better restaurant
