I've lived in Chico for almost two years and I am telling you, this is the best food I have eaten since I've arrived here. This is coming from a girl who's eaten her fair share of awesome ramen. Not convinced? This is the review of a very typically stuck up, high expectations, previous resident of NYC. You know the stereotype. The highly critical but totally incapable "foodie". Writing a good review is not my MO. But this stuff is the real deal. Try the Tonkatsu with the incredibly tender and savory pork belly. Close your eyes. Imagine the sounds of yellow cabs honking, subways rushing by; crazy people talking to the pigeons. Chico is a better place since Coco's. read more

Curry Ramen tastes spoiled. The curry paste tastes like it has being sitting in the kitchen for a week. They definitely don't make those condiments freshly everyday. Literally having a big diarrhea afterwards. Btw, they sell a can soda for $2.5. read more

This is the ramen Chico has been waiting for. I couldn't even take a picture because I ate it so fast!! My boyfriend and I used to eat ramen in Little Tokyo in LA, and though this isn't the same it's amazingly good! The noodles are soft and creamy, the egg has a good flavor and the broth is wonderful. I try not to eat so much meat so I can't vouch for the meats flavor yet. However, I love that tofu is an option, which was something I missed in LA. I'm so glad this place opened up in what seemed to be a forever-changing retail space, I hope Coco Ramen takes a permanent residence here. We ordered to-go and the customer service was great even with the place being literally completely packed. Everything was packaged nicely, and we ordered gyoza along with our ramen which also has a great flavor and the soy sauce has a nice kick to it. Overall, if you love Japanese food or love soups and noodles, Coco's is a must try!! read more

My son and I went to this establishment and the food was horrible. Neither one of us could eat the ramen we ordered at the steep price of 11.95 each. We sent back my son's order as it was terrible to the point he couldn't eat it at all. I would not recommend this establishment if you actually enjoy good Japanese food or good food at all. I wouldn't go there if you value your money either because the owner refused to take the price of the Ramen(11.95) off my check which seemed odd because of what was made was inedible. This place is disgusting. read more

First time ramen eaters and it was delicious! We asked what the two most popular items were and got those. The Katsu ramen was my favorite! We will be back. read more

Great ramen, I get the tonkatsu ramen with pork bell! The pork belly is tender and delicious and a great Smokey bbq flavor! Only complaint is it's about 14$ for a bowl of ramen, kinda pricey. But I keep coming back so clearly not too expensive haha staff are all super nice and friendly also. read more

Over priced ! Expect to spend a lot for very little and if your getting ramen expect to be given a bucket of broth with very few noodles :/

The Ramen is very traditional Japanese ramen. There are some kinds ramen, and there is enough. The appetizer is really very great, I got beef tongue and fired squid. Squid is very juice, that was amazing with sources when you eat it. read more

Best vegetable tempura I've ever had! Very authentic. Their food is reasonably priced so I will definitely go back.

I'm literally obsessed with this place. So good that I could eat the Tonkatsu Ramen with Pork Belly or Chashu and black garlic 7 days a week. Awesome staff, fast friendly service, and absolutely delicious... the only down side is that most days they don't open until 5, and are open at 3:30 on weekends... so I never get to have it for lunch. read more

I've never had any bad experiences with any ramen places that Ive been to, but this is the worse experience ever. Service was bad, took forever to get a menu and order in, there wasnt even that much people. Sure the girl was nice, but she didn't know what she was talking about, didnt know the menu or ingredients completely. Price for the food is not worth it, the quality of the food is not the best. So, the day I went, I ordered the curry ramen with chasu, house chicken wings, baby squid, and beef tongue. Not have I ever had so many things wrong with the order i put in. First off, menu for chicken wings says 5 pieces, but I got 4 pieces only. Lady states because the wings are bigger they don't do 5 peices no more. Well, if that's the case, then change the number of pieces on the menu (false advertisement). Second, beef tongue was NOT beef tongue, but just regular steak pieces. If I wanted some steak, trust me, I would not go to a ramen place for it. Third, I got my ramen bowl with NO chasu, WTH. Took at least 4 min to get my chasu. I was not impressed. The half egg that comes with it was cold, the meat was cold. The broth was mediocre and the noodles tasted like those manruchan top ramen. I would NOT go back, the reviews are over-rated. I would give zero star if I could. read more

The ramen was delicious !!!!!! I got a house salad which vegetables were wilted and brown. It was packed and through the waitress forgot us another employee I think maybe a manager or owner got our order in right away. We will definitely try it again. Ramen was so yummy! read more

Wtf is seriously wrong with the service here? I'm assuming they only hv 1 server on weekend night. What a joke. We went there and waited for 20 mins and no one even taking our order. Pass. read more

This little ramen shop off of Nord is not one to pass up. For the best meal, either get the Tonkatsu or Curry ramen with pork belly and black garlic with some spicy edamame, takoyaki or their chicken karaage! Everything is incredibly tasty and well worth the money! read more

Yasssss! This place has really yummy ramen and great atmosphere! Love the pork belly and I don't usually like pork belly in ramen. Super cute in there, felt like we were in Japan! Worth the trip to the gross part of town. read more

Excellent ramen! Most traditional ramen in Chico, the service was great and really good prices. Authentic-try it for sure! We will be back.

Best ramen place in town. Way more flavorful than Momona downtown, and more options for add I'm not sure. Be sure to get the fried tofu! (I had dreams about it after eating it for the first time- no joke) read more

Busy but small place. I ordered extra hot but maybe it was medium. My friend got hotter than they wanted, and upon trying I think they switched heat levels on what I ordered, which is too bad for them since we only got one bottle of water to share the entire time. Maybe I'm used to the ramen in Sacramento but it tasted like there was flavor or seasoning missing, but was good enough for a cold rainy night. read more

Don't get me wrong, i truly enjoyed my dining experience at Coco's Ramen. I tried the Seafood Ramen. The broth was bold and perfectly spiced. The ramen and veggies were fresh and delicious. The seafood (shrimp, mussel, and calamari pieces) unfortunately was sparse. 3 medium shrimp, 1 mussel (menu says mussels) and a small sampling of calamari. Although Coco's Ramen is delicious, i expect more for almost $15. For ramen, that's right. Lack of seafood was unfortunately a deal breaker for me, I will not be back. read more

Quaint and warm atmosphere. The staff is friendly and helpful if you have questions about menus items. Reasonably priced for the amount of food you get. A favorite on a cold day or even some warm ones. My favorite ramen place in town. read more

I normally try a restaurant at least twice before writing a review but I was seriously impressed after our first time. I'm vegetarian and the veggie broth was the best, most flavorful vegetarian ramen broth that I've ever had. Even my fiancé said it was as good as his tonkatsu broth. I added mushrooms and chose black garlic with medium spice, which was a little mild for me so I will order spicy in the future. Their eggs were on point with flavor and the gooey yolk. We both agreed the eggs were the best we've tried. They were busy so the service was a little lacking but there was a big party and I think they are a fairly new restaurant so I can't knock them. The owners seemed nice. I'm from SoCal and lived in the Bay Area so I'm pretty picky. Obviously this place can't compare in some ways but 5 stars for their veggie broth alone!. Reasonable prices too. read more

OMG!!! Finally, Ramen done right in Chico!!! The Rich Ramen was soooo good. After first time, when I was sick, this is all I craved. Second visit, did not disappoint. We will keep coming back. read more

this place goes nuts. The broth is super flavorful, the mark of good ramen! The noodles are the perfect texture and the pork belly melts in your mouth as it should. this place blows Momona out of the water! read more

I cannot say enough good things about this place. Absolutely delicious ramen. I have never had a bad bowl, and I have almost worked my way through the menu. And they have such amazing service. Everyone who works there is just wonderful. I only wished they opened sooner! Waiting till 5:30 is torture sometimes! read more

Amazing Ramen, one of my new favorite restaurants in town. I usually get the shoyu ramen (hot, but I like my food spicy) with pork belly (one of the best pork I've ever eaten). I now eat here monthly, if not every other week. The wait-staff is friendly and the service is prompt. I cannot recommend highly enough. read more

I love this place! The food is absolutely delicious. I usually call my order in and it's always completed promptly.

Went the first week they opened and I was very impressed with the food and the service. Even for being packed we received our food much quicker than expected. Everything was delicious and my ramen came with an egg, none of this $1 for half an egg nonsense. The black garlic is also an absolutely delicious addition to their ramen but a little pricey (I believe $2?). Ultimately I'll definitely be back again. read more

Finally a good ramen place in town! Deelish! The heat is good. Medium spice will give you a little kick yet you can still taste so much flavor. Also, get the black garlic, it's yummy. read more

One of the worst experiences I've ever had in Chico. I'm a vegetarian but really not picky. My friend and I went a few days ago to try out their appetizers since I heard they only had one vegetarian ramen. I asked the waitress about the edamame croquette and she told me she wasn't sure what it was because nobody had ordered it yet. I was pretty surprised at the response but just asked her if it was vegetarian and she said yes, so I went ahead and ordered it. When I got the item (about 30 minutes later) it smelled heavily of fish and I asked what the flakes on top of the croquettes were. She replied that it was fish skin, and I told her that I couldn't eat it and had already previously mentioned that I was vegetarian. She replied saying "Oh sorry, so no good?" and went back to work. She came back about 15 minutes later and asked if she could take my untouched plate and then asked if we were ready for the bill. We got the bill and I noticed that the croquette was still on the tab, I asked if it could be taken off since I didn't eat it and she said no she didn't think so. I asked if she could ask her manager and she said she would try to. They didn't take off the item from my tab and they offered me a 10% discount which ended up being about $1.16 off the total bill... I wasn't even upset that there was a confusion about the food not being vegetarian but I was never offered something else in replacement and I find it INSANE that they wouldn't take the item off my bill. We spent about an hour here and never got refills on water and were checked in about every 15 minutes or so. The other food we got was alright but it wasn't served at the same time so my friend ate first and then I did. Sadly I won't be returning to this place because they couldn't respect their customers and just didn't seem to care. read more

The food is really amazing, I'll give it that. The first time I went was during opening week, and although it was packed, we got our food relatively fast but our check totally mixed up at the end. The second time, however, was an hour and a half before closing and much less packed than the opening week. The wait for our food wasn't the problem, but the service in general was. Our bottle of water was placed down at the beginning when we first sat at the table and never touched again to be filled up, regardless of multiple servers walking by and visibly being able to see our two glasses and the bottle pushed to the side as a hint. Once our food was placed in front of us, it was nearly an HOUR before we were ever checked on again. We were planning on ordering another bowl of ramen to eat before leaving, since the kitchen would be closing soon at this time, and instead decided it wasn't worth it once it hit the hour mark. I stared at the waitresses in the back hoping it would be a hint for them to at least bring our check so we could pay and LEAVE-since it had been nearly an hour since we FINISHED and our bowls were empty to the side. Finally when someone came up to us, she asked us if we were good and almost started to ask if we had ordered yet. I sternly said we had been done for a long time and she seemed to get annoyed. Brought us our check, I immediately put my card down and waited another ten minutes before she even came to pick it up from the table. I'm so sad that the food is SO good but the service is honestly kind of awful. I hope this improves because I want to keep giving my money to the restaurant and getting yummy ramen, but I refuse to give money to horrible waiting/service in general. read more
