Was in Clackamas for an appointment and after a stressful day, decided to get a mani / pedi and a few doors down was Coco Donuts. I couldn't resist. It was right before closing so there was a limited selection, but lots of flower shaped, pastel iced mochi donuts. I'd never had mochi anything so decided to give the pink, strawberry iced mochi a try. It had a slightly chewy texture, rather than a crumb cake texture, and it wasn't too sweet. It was good, but I prefer flour based over the rice flour mochi. Also picked up a plain cake bar. Unfortunately it was dry and stale. I was really excited to get these donuts since I've heard they're really good. The flavor was great and the staff were nice, but there was a curly black strand of hair in two of our donuts (we each tried one of the 6 we got) so we had to throw the rest away. Some of the best donuts in town! I love how soft their raised donuts are and the coating and toppings are not too sweet compared to other donut shops. We got a box of half a dozen donuts which we filled with a couple of Mochi donuts and Lavender donuts, a Chocolate Sprinkle donut, and a Glazed Buttermilk donut. I also ordered a simple Latte. They regularly rotate their mochi donut flavors and this time they had a Pumpkin Spice flavor, so we gave that one a try. It was pretty good, it was slightly spiced but mostly of a cinnamon flavor with a hint of pumpkin. My favorite is their Lavender donut. It's a unique flavor that is floral yet sweet. With any donut here, you can't go wrong. As for the latte, it was fine. I was in the mood for coffee but it didn't quite fulfill the need. We preordered some donuts for an early event well in advance. They opened after the posted hours and scheduled pick up time, and didn't have any donuts of any kind when they opened. It was another 15 minutes before any even arrived, and another 10 before we got anything we ordered. This is unprofessional and ruined a team celebration we were having. Pitty that we had to pre-tip and that the entire thing was way too expensive. And the donuts are average. This place is not worth your time or money. When I did, their selection was understandably smaller than it would have been had I come in earlier. The donuts themselves are as average as average gets. Nothing is notably good...the raised donuts are on the greasy side and taste bad. The old-fashioned and the cake varieties fare better, but that's not to say that they're good (they're not). The location is ok. It's a limited parking lot with lots of traffic from Sunnyside. There is road construction. Back to the donuts I got 2 glazed, 1 raspberry filled, 2 sugar donuts and a maple bar. I had the glazed donut. It's alright. It's got more of a salty taste to the dough... not sure if that's how they're supposed to taste. It's semi light... but then feels heavy. I also ordered the Carmel sweet cream cold brew... the photo on their Instagram makes it look appealing but in person it was super dark. So not enough cream. It's nothing like Dutch or Starbucks so keep that in mind. Overall I'm not sure I would return. Nothing is pulling me back. There was also a giant counter but only one section of donuts. I will update this review back to five stars when they fix how awful the mochi donuts have been the last few weeks. I come here once a week, mainly for the mochi donuts because that's what makes Coco Donuts special from other donut shops. My personal favorite is the lavender. However, the last three weeks I've gotten them it is like they completely changed overnight. The frosting is thick, the lavender flavor in particular is now overpowering, and the dough is so over cooked and tough they are inedible. I returned all of them today because this is now a pattern and not just a one off bad day. When I returned the donuts the man that helped said the donuts come from a central kitchen so it's not like I could even go to a different Coco Donuts and get one that's made correctly. They have mochi donuts!! This was my first mochi donut experience, and they are delicious! They are fun to eat with their beaded ring shape. They have a pleasantly springy texture and have a fried essence reminiscent of fair fare, like elephant ears. The matcha does not have a very strong matcha flavor and is pretty sweet. Oreo is good but a little sweet. Matcha didn't really taste of matcha. Undertones reminded me of hops. And the orange tasted similar to Voodoo's tang donut.
