I've never been called ma'am so much. Our construction manager, Jonathan, was on site daily. He kept me correctly informed about who would be at the house and their arrival time. Israel was consistently keeping an eye on things and was very accommodating when we made changes or additions to the job. Krystal, our designer, was much more essential than I originally expected. She has a great sense of style and understood our vision. I trusted her immediately and we figured out all the design materials quite easily. I'll post photos and you'll think "how hard was black, gray, and white decor?" It is more challenging than you'd think. I recommend meeting with Modern Design and using them for your home project.

Today I picked up a curbside order and before I got home was getting gas and found the box taper tape broken. I called the manager and explained the situation saying I wanted an unopened box. I was told they could not be assured over the phone that my return would be accepted. I was shopping at Costco and found a better item for just a little more. So I returned the item to BBB. Then received this warning from RAR. I have been a loyal BBB customer for 30 years, but today I began having second thoughts.

The Kitchen Collection is a neat kitchen and knick-knack shop located in the Conroe Outlet Mall…read more It has a fine collection of pots and pans, electronics (toasters, toaster ovens, mixers, blenders, etc.), dishes, flatware, serving utensils, towels and aprons, and decor. It's jam packed with stuff for a fun and functional kitchen. The staff is friendly and helpful, and their prices are reasonable. We stop in regularly and buy occasionally. This adventure, we picked up a veggie spaghetti maker, some mitts, and other knick-knacky stuff. I was surprised at the number of veggie spaghettifiers. Power ones, manual crank ones, hand held ones, etc. Who knew? We bought the simplest hand held model for a few bucks to test it out. So we brought it home, and completely shredded 2 zucchinis into spaghetti in a minute. After 3 minutes in the microwave, it was done. Drain it. Throw sauce on it with a tablespoon of grated cheese. Voila! Nearly no calories and delicious. Next trip, it time to get that salad spinner ... LOL. I think that zucchini needs to be spun dry!

Took me a while to figure out how this company does business. If you read the 4- and 5-star…read morereviews, they're all from people who did major projects - thousands of dollars. If you're like me, looking for ideas for a couple of items (kitchen sink and new faucet), don't expect to get anyone's serious attention at the store. They work almost exclusively with big-dollar clients and pretty much by appointment only. That said, it's a great place to go look for ideas and to kick a few tires - no one seems to mind if you want to spend an hour or so just browsing. I give them two stars instead of one because they really do have a great layout with loads of different manufacturers and wide-ranging price points for all items, much more so than you'll find at Lowe's or Home Depot. It's a great toy store when you need something for your kitchen or bath - just understand how they do business before you walk in expecting something different. I picked out the items I needed and called their online sales desk - got a GREAT rep who was a delight to work with. Everything was delivered in a timely manner, and it has all been installed (found my own handyman to do the work). Yes, I'll go back if I have another similar need or if I'm ready to spend a lot more money - this time I'll know what to expect.

Of the 6 quotes I got, Jacob at Your Texas Patio blew them all away (he beat the obnoxious one by nearly $50,000 for basically the exact same project). I generally don't go for the cheapest option, but after the initial conversations he had me convinced that he knew what he was doing. So, I dove right in. As soon as they had the go ahead, work was underway. Angel led the way on the construction end and was out there every day (often including the weekends) doing everything from tearing out the side of the house to connect the structure, putting down posts, framing the roof, painting, etc. A real construction stud. In no time the project was complete and I'm extremely happy with the finished project (which beat our target date by about 2 weeks). Sure, there were some snags along the way. I had some plumbing issues that needed to be addressed (1960s house with original sewage lines), a sprinkler than was inadvertently damaged and the need to run a gas line from the other side of the house. Jacob fixed anything that needed to be fixed immediately, and if there was something outside the scope of the project he had someone out there for me to consult with on the same day (I couldn't even get my longtime plumber or audio guys out within two weeks). If I had a tweak to design or a minor addition, it was done. If I had questions on the project at 11pm after a few whiskeys or on a weekend at 7am on my way to a soccer game, it was answered. Sure, he looks like a kid, but he knows what he's doing. I'll be using them on my next projects and you probably should, too.
