I love to eat at El Bolillo Bakery. It all started because my boyfriend really loves their conchas,…read moreso he was the one who introduced me to the place. I've always liked bakeries, but I try to eat on the healthier side, so I usually avoid anything that might tempt me.But I am a sucker for cinnamon rolls, so when I saw they had them, of course I had to try one and they are so, so good. Now we actually go there about once every two weeks because we love it that much and I look forward to opening the front doors and smelling the sweet smell of baked goods Recently we also found out that they have cheese & sausage kolaches, and oh my gosh, they are delicious. They are really, really good and were such a nice surprise when we tried them. The location closest to us is the one on Airline Drive, and we usually go in the afternoon so we can avoid the after-work crowd. That time of day works really well for us because there aren't too many people, which makes it easier to grab bread and look around without feeling rushed. The ordering process is pretty quick and simple. You grab your metal tray and tongs, open each little door, pick what you want, and put it on the tray. When you're ready, you go to the register where the ladies count the breads, ring everything up, and bag it nicely for you. We're usually in and out pretty fast, which we really like. We love going to El Bolillo, and at this point it has definitely become a staple for us. We honestly can't get enough of it.

A cute neighborhood bakery (literally inside a residential community!) filled with whimsy and fun,…read moreFluff Bake Bar is unapologetically cute and pink. The treats here are more of the classic American desserts (known for the cookies but also have brownies, bars, loaves, cakes, ice cream, and even pup pops). They're open until 7pm which is pretty late for a bakery, perfect for swinging by after dinner! - Booty call brownie (4.5/5): soft fudgy brownie with cookie dough on top. The cookie dough was really soft and almost like a frosting. Definitely chocolatey and quite sweet-- perfect for the sweet tooth! I prefer my brownies with a little more chew but this was fun and tasty :) - Coffee toffee cookie (3.5/5) and Dulce oatmeal cookie (5/5): both cookies were soft and slightly chewy. The coffee toffee cookie definitely had that coffee flavor, but it wasn't very sweet, making the overall flavor a bit muted. The oatmeal cookie had a nice balance of just a bit of saltiness with an almost honey or caramelized taste when biting into the valrhona chocolate pieces-- very moreish :D - Chocolate bourbon pecan tart (4/5): more pecan-forward than chocolatey, and it was chock full of nuts. MT enjoyed this one as it wasn't too sweet. I was glad it didn't taste like or have the texture of pecan pie but would enjoy it more if it had more chocolate flavor, maybe with a thick layer of chocolate ganache. It was quiet on a weekday morning with plenty of parking in their lot. Inside, there were two tables and self serve water (yes!). The two staff members inside were friendly, and our visit just seemed very wholesome :) After our visit, I went to read more about the business on their website-- really neat to learn about the owner's journey and realized she was one of the people working in the kitchen that day! I visited Fluff's old location a decade ago and am happy to find them thriving in their new one. They apparently do weekend drops that are really popular too (check IG). Definitely swing by for a sweet treat-- I'll be back to try more goodies!

The croissant itself was the real star. It was so flaky and so rich. I found myself peeling off layer after layer of the bread before even getting to the filling. The pastrami and mustard inside were great, but honestly... I just wanted the croissant. That said, it was a bit pricey. I would absolutely love if they sold plain croissants regularly because the pastry alone is worth the trip. It's a small bakery with limited seating inside and outside, and on Saturdays things sell out fast so get there early and expect a line.

We also ordered a ube choux and two macarons (vanilla and pistachio). The ube choux was much better, the ube filling actually tastes like ube, which is pretty rare in ube-related food or drink. The choux, however, reminded me of pastry that has been sitting out for a while - kinda hard. The macarons were actually great. Flaky, soft, and the fillings were delicious. Sad that the quality has dropped so much.

This entire meal itself is shared/cooked as a group of four, even though your station is for 2 people. You are standing throughout the class and get breaks in between to go check out the store. For example I have done a pastry baking class - Macaroons and croissants. I booked this class for 4 people so it was perfect because we all knew each other and it was a group activity. Since it was four of us we had a row/table to ourselves. *****Each table has two stations, each pair gets a station. So each table has 4 people. ***** For us the baking class was fun because our group of 4 got to be next to each other and work together. ***For baking classes you are able to take leftovers home.*** I have also done a Dinner class - Carbonara pasta, Caprese salad, and tiramisu dessert. This was booked for 2 people to celebrate a birthday for a friend. In this experience of booking for 2 people we had to share the table and ingredients with another couple/pair. When booking for 2, as a date night, the only part that might ruin the vibe of is you are very close to the other group. It isn't intimate and you don't have your own space. The food portions are enough but not super filling. You would be satisfied but you might leave feeling like you have some space for something small. ***Some people do have left overs but the sad thing is with savory classes you cannot take leftovers. You either finish your food or you toss it out. So even if you were full you would be tossing some of your $ away. ****
