I've been using Cobb Tuning for years now. Recently picked up 2017 WRX STI. It turned out I was unable to use my previous version of accessport AP3-SUB-003 in my newer vehicle. I contacted Cobb support to see if anything can be done to reprogram my tuner to AP3-SUB-004. I was very impressed with the response I got from PJ over at Cobb Tuning. He helped me with the reprograming my tuner and I was up and running in no time. As a business owner I must say they are very professional and on top of their game. This is Cobb's headquarters--a primarily R&D office full of genuinely cool people. They may not work on customers' cars here, but they still have a First Thursday, which is one of the best car nerd meets in town. They're always on the first Thursday of every month, and they're somewhat of an open house/meet-and-greet type event. Best of all, it's a lovely diverse crowd that brings everything from hellaflush to hellafunctional (with more of the latter!). It's not rare to see at least one or two actual race cars out in the parking lot for First Thursday. Me gusta. There's also free food and giveaways as well. If Cobb made anything for my car (their focus is primarily on turbocharged imports) and I felt like being un-lazy and actually modifying it, I'd buy their stuff in a heartbeat. I've been impressed by the way the engineers take feedback not just from what comes in to them, but what's said out on forums and in other venues about bugs that need to be fixed or features people would like to see. I got to drive a friend's Evo X that's had plenty of Cobb mods done to it, and "wheeeeeee." Yeah, that's about all I could say in between giggles. Many of the Cobb guys track and autocross their cars, too, so if you don't meet them at their office, you might meet them at the track. I can say the same about a large number of the guys who show up to their First Thursday nights as well. Best of all, it's a very friendly crowd. So many places I frequent with no reviews! This must be rectified. Though in this case, I suspect that if you know who Cobb Tuning is, you probably don't need a review from me to sell them. The long and short of it is, these are the premier tuners for Subaru, Nissan, Mazda, and a few other makes. Not only that, they're a great group of guys who are really trying to foster a sense of community and not just another tuning shop out to make a fast buck. Their monthly "First Thursday" meet ups are fantastic, the owners and employees of the shop hang around inside and outside the shop, usually bring a few race cars out to poke at and stare at, and provide food, entertainment, and a nice atmosphere for meeting other car people. And they're serious about performance. This isn't the Stanceworks/Hellaflush crowd. While you might see a few of those cars lurking around, you're more likely to see an absolutely pristine R33 or R34 or even a Miata with a Corvette motor crammed under the hood. Most of the people at the shop actually compete and have actually driven a car in anger at a real racetrack. They know exactly what they're talking about and what will make your car fast. They don't make anything for my car, but if they did, I'd happily bring buckets of cash to their doorstep. read more

First I will start but discussing the products I have purchased from COBB. I have a 2017 Subaru WRX and I purchased the AP Tuner and COBB Intake. AP tuner is an unbelievable upgrade that truly unlocks the car that you wanted. It seriously is like driving an entirely different car that handles and responds amazingly in every way. I'm disappointed that Subaru didn't produce this car to perform like this in the first place. The Intake is also amazing and simple to install. The sound that it produces in the cabin is amazing and adds some fun while driving. The performance is noticeable and I have nothing bad to say about any of it. Highly recommend both purchases with nothing negative to say. The second part of this review I would like to discuss the customer service offered by this company. I have had to call a couple of times with some questions and I have to say their customer service is second to none! First of all when you a call you reach a real person (in this country). That person doesn't gather info and dump you off to someone else they will answer questions regarding products and compatibility, installation, or anything else you can ask. That same employee will listen and talk to you about any issues or concerns you have. I recently spoke with Ty regarding some repairs I had on my vehicle at the dealership. Long story short he was able to help me with any questions I had sent me an email detailing step by step how to complete some tasks to ensure everything was installed correctly and then had me send him the data logs so he could review it and ensure everything was running the desired way. I received quick and accurate help from him and he never acted annoyed or put out with me. This is one example of multiple experiences I've had when contacting them and every time I interact with them I'm impressed. In a day and age where companies seem to care less and less about customer service or out source it to other companies, this is an extremely refreshing breath of air. I had a great customer service experience with Aaron Foo. I called Cobb support with questions about a Cobb AP I "inherited" with a car I bought. There was a misalignment between the map on the car and the aftermarket components on the car since the previous owner took some parts out but did not flash it back to the proper map. Aaron was very patient and helpful on the phone (even though he didn't have to) and walked me through the process of correctly using the AP and putting the right map back on the car. Cobb created and sol flex fuel kits, they also offered the tuning device to tune for the flex fuel kits. With out warning they discontinued the flex fuel kits. They also have out in place to no longer allow already sold devices to tune for the already sold flex fuel kits. Essentially taking people's money and then locking up the product they sold so it can't be used. read more

COBB is an automotive tuner that specializes in upgrades for turbocharged imports. Their 1st Thursday events are laid back, well attended, and diverse. And hey, there's free food. Best of all, the employees walk their talk; you'll find them at Harris Hill, CoTA, and your local autocross. The business and 1st Thursday are both biased towards Subaru, but hey, that's how they got their start. Great company. I dislike that they discontinued support for the V2, but they did handle an issue I was having with no problem and no trouble. I admire anyone who takes their work seriously and strives to be the best at what they do. I had quite a bit of questions regarding the AccessTuner program and the availability to use it with more than one of my Cobb powered vehicles. Aaron Foo contacted me promptly after I inquired and was able to answer every question I had and was very patient when a new one came up, and not only replying same day, but often within the hour or even minutes after my last email out. Skip the Accessport if you have any interest in digging into your vehicle's tune. Cobb has removed access to Accesstuner Race, previously offered for free to anyone who wanted it. The new version, which got pushed back months later than they initially claimed it'd be offered, is locked behind a mandatory paid online course, despite Cobb's repeated insistence that it would remain free. Pro tip, guys, just because the money for your software locked behind a paywall is being collected by a third party, doesn't mean the software is free. This is a huge slap in the face to any enthusiast who's previously purchased a Cobb Accessport with the intent of poking around their tune rather than simply running a mediocre off-the-shelf map or paying for a Protune. read more

This is a top-notch outfit, you cannot go wrong. Customer service is the best I have ever experienced. Needed a quick question answered, taking the car to the dealer and there were concerns about the dealer flashing the BCM or ECM. Tech answered questions, but not only did that, told me about the issues that might come up. "Uninstall" before you take it in, well yeah, but the additional information on what the ramifications were invaluable and educational. What I am saying, is he took time to make sure that all aspects, issues were reviewed. Now some might say "duh", but hear this out, I have a stage II kit, and I am not taking the inter-cooler and all the other stuff off, "I DON'T CARE if the dealer doesn't like the additional equipment, I take care of the hardware, but my issue was the possibility of a BCM update, the issue was an interior electrical one. There was another incident, I had an after-hours question, left a message on the machine figuring a call back the next day, NO! They called that night and gave me the info, now that is a "Gear Head" shop. Don't expect late night callbacks every day, but WOW, that was totally unexpected! It was totally appreciated too, as I was going out of town, stress dropped to "0", thanks COBB TEAM! read more

So i just received the best customer service I have experienced in a long time. I will leave out some details to avoid obligating Cobb to certain things. So lets start with this. I ordered an Accessport on the 2nd of may. Received my military discount and decided to route the savings toward shipping speeds with Next day air to Hawaii. When I ordered they were back ordered so it shipped monday. When I looked at my tracking information it stated it was sent ground. I left a voicemail on their customer service line asking for a call-back, but stated I was in Hawaii and not to call to early. Next day I called back after I had awaken. Eric I believe was the rep. He answered and happened to have already read my email and had solutions lined up for me. First great thing was another was immediately shipped out next day air while the original was reversed and canceled. In addition he managed to help a buddy out that also ordered a AP.
