The only saving grace was the food was delicious. We would not come back due to the poor service: the hostess was quite rude in communicating the kitchen's unavailability while they transitioned from breakfast service to lunch, it took more than five minutes for a server to greet us and ask for our drinks, there was some leftover particle in one of our water glasses and when asked for a replacement our server gave some pushback and reacted with disbelief, our food came out with everyone's order incorrect: two burgers and a crab cake sandwich were plated with the wrong sides, one of us had a crustacean allergy. At minimum, we expect an establishment to be much more careful preparing dishes that may be contaminated with allergens that the diners explicitly listed when ordering. read more

This place is lauded as one of the best for drinks and seafood but I don't think they are staffed properly as our service was pretty slow despite being a table of two on the off season. A table near ours got angry and insisted on getting their food to go as they had been waiting almost 30 min for their entrees. Their cocktails were strong and well balanced, and their pork sandwich had exactly what described but the bread was barely holding on and desperately needed more acid. One of my favorite dishes in OCMD. - Jake, our waiter, gave it his all to smooth out the experience. Cons: - Appetizer never arrived until after entrées were finished. Jake comped it, but it added to the chaos. - My son couldn't eat here due to a nut allergy. What he wanted (burger, mac & cheese) wasn't safe, so we settled for chicken & potatoes a-la-cart. The bill showed $10 for dry chicken, & $9 for bland potatoes. - My wife's mashed potatoes were cold, but quickly replaced by the manager. Despite better entrées this year, except for my son's, we won't return. Between allergy limitations and service stumbles, we're not the target audience. We visited Coastal Salt on August 11th for my son's birthday. We are locals and had been looking forward to trying this restaurant for over a year after hearing so many great things. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. We were a party of eight and had made a reservation. After being seated, it took nearly 10 minutes for our waiter to greet us. He mentioned bringing water, but we had to ask to order alcoholic beverages. After placing our drink order, it took quite a while for the drinks to arrive. He then left and never returned to take our food order. After sitting for another 15 minutes, I finally had to approach the hostess and ask for a new server. Marley came over immediately, reviewed the specials, and took our appetizer order. The appetizers arrived fairly quickly, but by that point, we had already been there close to an hour. Unfortunately, the food itself was inconsistent. We ordered the evening steak and shrimp special (approximately $70), lobster mac & cheese, crab cakes, and several other items. The steak and shrimp were nothing special, the shrimp lacked flavor, the crab cakes contained multiple pieces of shell, and the lobster mac & cheese arrived cold. I returned the mac & cheese and declined a replacement because, after already being there for so long, I didn't want to wait any longer. We ordered another round of drinks, which was also forgotten. Eventually, Marley brought them out and told us they were on the house, which we appreciated. The restaurant also provided two complimentary desserts, which was a nice gesture. I spoke with the manager and explained the entire experience. He apologized and offered us a gift card to give the restaurant another opportunity. Unfortunately, after spending more than $400 on a birthday dinner that was, at best, mediocre, being offered a $25 gift card felt incredibly underwhelming. It wouldn't even cover the cost of one person's meal. What should have been a special birthday dinner turned into an evening of waiting, having to repeatedly ask for service, and dealing with food-quality issues. There are plenty of other restaurants in the area where we could spend $400 and receive significantly better food and service. The complimentary drinks and desserts were appreciated, but unfortunately, they weren't enough to make up for the overall experience. We had really wanted to love Coastal Salt, but based on this experience, we will not be returning. read more

I Sat at the bar and the bar staff turned 2 groups of 4 and a solo patron away - from drinks! They are losing money by turning bar patrons away. We got there at 7ish on a Thursday night and only had to wait maybe 20mns, which was fine as we sat on the Boardwalk. Our server Marley was great. Took our order fast and food came out after a pretty short wait. We had the sushi roll (whatever it was called). It was a nice size portion and the dipping sauce was amazing. We also got the proscuitto on grilled sourdough with fig ricotta and honey and it was really good. We mainly went for the seafood nachos. They were just ok. The reservation was made a couple of hours before our dinner date. I liked how easy that process was and the oceanfront view was pretty. I ordered oysters and I felt like they barely had any oyster meat in them, personally I wouldn't have served that to a customer and I know it's not something predetermined. I loved the mocktail that I ordered. It was so good and I would love to have one again. Wonderful place right on the OC boardwalk! We came here both for lunch when we got in and dinner later that night. Prices are to be expected being a prime location! I got the shrimp cocktail which was amazing with large shrimp and the ginger lemon drop cocktail! For dinner I got the grilled octopus which was large enough for two people. The vibes are a little more upscale for the boardwalk but still family-friendly. The drinks are pricey but strong. We ordered some apps and meal, and my favorite was the Coastal Roll. read more

This place is close to my hotel and they got great reviews, so finding somewhere to eat on my first night of vacation was an easy decision. My buddy and I split the Lobster Mac & Cheese, Summer Seafood Pesto, and the Filet Mignon. Everything was delicious. The seafood was fresh and the filet was cooked to a perfect medium rare. On my second visit I ordered some drinks and tried the fried deviled eggs. Service was much better this time around and the appetizer was fantastic. Coastal Salt has indoor and outdoor seating. Pickup is available, but there is no delivery. I wanted something different, so I ordered the CAULIFLOWER CROQUETTE: Crispy mashed cauliflower Croquette served on top of a Ginger Carrot Puree with tasty Grilled Asparagus, Micro Greens and Shaved Brussel Sprout Slaw.
