Coastal Hyundai - Inflated Prices, Hidden Fees, and Poor Communication I brought my 2022 Hyundai Elantra SEL to Coastal Hyundai for service and left incredibly frustrated with the experience. I was quoted $3,507.65 to replace the evaporator, which is extremely high -- especially when the average cost at most shops ranges from $1,200 to $2,500. I was also quoted $489.92 for 2 lbs of R-1234yf refrigerant, even though my car's system only holds about 1 to 1.2 lbs total. This seems like a blatant attempt to double-charge me for refrigerant without explanation. They also added a diagnostic fee that I was never informed about ahead of time and never signed for. That's not just unprofessional -- it's deceptive. No customer should be surprised by hidden fees after the fact. When I called to ask about labor rates, one employee told me it was $210 an hour, and another said it was $220 an hour. For comparison, most independent and even many dealership shops charge around $150 an hour. This kind of inconsistency just reinforces the feeling that pricing here is arbitrary and inflated. Other services quoted -- like $468 for spark plugs (vs. a typical $150-$300), $229 for injector cleaning (normally $100-$180), and $229 for fuel induction service (average $150-$200) -- were all well above industry averages. Between the overpriced quotes, lack of clear communication, undisclosed fees, and inconsistent labor rates, this visit felt more like a money grab than a professional service experience. Also, it was a nice touch to pick up my car to find that the service department left trash in the vehicle. I strongly recommend getting a second opinion before agreeing to anything at Coastal Hyundai.

Mr. Tom is the best. Friendly and professional. Best advice we've had, about buying a car. I recommend this business.

Good dealership with fair pricing. I didn't end up buying there but did look at some new and used cars.

Repairing my right rear fender required removing the tail light. I drive a retractable hardtop…read moreroadster. In order for the hardtop to retract, a microswitch needs to be engaged by a "trunk partition" which allows space for the hardtop to fold in the trunk. After they "fixed" my car, I immediately noticed the hardtop no longer retracted because the "trunk partition" was not engaged according to the error message on my dashboard. They denied causing this problem and would not even take a critical look at the trunk partition mechanism. They referred me to the car dealership and I was on my own. The car dealer wanted $300 just to diagnose the problem, and I had no guarantee Classic Collision would foot the bill. I subsequently took the car to my trusted mechanic and he diagnosed and fixed the problem in five minutes. Turns out, when the Classic Collision tech removed the tail light assembly, he also unplugged the "Trunk partition" sensor microswitch cable (which is immediately adjacent to the tail light assembly) and never plugged it back in again. When I pointed this out, both the service rep. and the manager continued to deny responsibility for the mishap and became rude and threatening. DO NOT USE THIS BODY SHOP for your auto repairs as they are dishonest, nasty and will not even own up to their mistakes.
