My daughter brought her car in for an oil change, to have both rear tires inspected and repaired and to have the brakes inspected. My husband was with her when she dropped it off and heard her ask about getting the tires checked. That she had had to put air in both rears, as they had been low. I drove her to pick it up and went in to see what they had found. Steve, the owner, was at the counter. He simply told her the total without explaining what they had done. Of course I asked what they had found with the tires. He certainly hadn't exuded any type of welcoming customer service when we walked in but now was actually defensive and extremely rude. He said they had plugged the left rear tire and did the oil change. I asked about the right rear tire. He said they had removed a short nail that hadn't actually gone all the way through. My daughter paid the bill and we went out to her car. She told me that was strange because she had checked both rears previously and that one was down to 10 pounds. She had even marked on the sidewall of both rear tires where she had found nails! I had her roll forward slowly as I looked. Low and behold right where she had marked there was a broken off nail still in the tire tread! Oh Hell No!! Do Not tell me that you checked my daughters tire and that it's safe when you or your technicians have indeed Not done your job! I went back in and told Steve there in fact was a nail in the right rear tire. His only response was that it would be another $20. for him to plug it. I walked back out to ask my daughter if she wanted it fixed. He followed me out and proceeded to try to defend his Lie. To my face this man lied again! Said my daughter hadn't mentioned checking the tires. My husband and she both affirm that the tires were in fact mentioned when the vehicle was dropped off! At this point mamma bear was pissed yet trying to be reasonable. I asked if he would repair it for $10.00. He responded he would do it for free. That was all well and good except for his attitude. My ex husband (daughters dad) works in the local automotive industry. Steve tells me in an oh so nasty tone to tell A____t that he's burned his bridges and to not come back or send anyone there! That we're done! The technician did pull the car in and I watched them plug the tire (an Improper repair, that's another whole rant). I asked how much psi they put in. The tech's response was 42psi, that they go by what's on the tire not per the vehicle manufacturer. Every vin sticker has the correct tire size and correct pressure front and rear. I requested they all be set to the manufacturers specifications per the sticker in the door jam. The correct pressure! The tech didn't open the door to verify the correct pressure. He just let air out to set them at 32 psi. The other technician jumped in to help adjust the right side tires. Steve comes out and said something to the tech while glaring at me then started laughing. I asked what was so funny. He came back with a snarky response about how I didn't know what the pressure should be. He had no idea that I was in the tire business for 25 years. I Do know about tires and customer service. Just because I'm a woman certainly doesn't mean I don't know what I'm talking about! He walked into the office stating loud enough for everyone to hear "we're done". I walked in the front door to get a business card. This guy, this business owner, sticks his hand up toward my face and yells "we're done"! I took as business card said "yes we are" and walked out as he continued to rant. He knew exactly why I wanted that card. So I could do a review (which I very rarely do) but this was absolutely unacceptable behavior from a "business "! The last thing I heard of his spewing was "make sure you tell it right". Seriously?! Does this guy get his jollies from lying to people and treating them like this?? Please whatever you do don't take your car to Tharps. I was over charged for an oil change/tire rotation. I went back to talk to Mrs. Tharp when I opened the door I heard someone from the shop tell her "Now don't be a Karen". She had an attitude the moment I walked in. This was $41 so it was worth a trip back to have adjusted. She informed me I was charged more because I got full synthetic and I said I told them to follow the coupon. She never apologized she treated me like I was a bother. Fantastic. Had front end "wobble". He asked what kind of wobble, I showed him with my hands like they were on the steering wheel and wobbling back and forth. I mentioned it seemed to change with the tire pressure. He said it was almost surely a tire steel belt separating. He was 100% correct. I had also been filing the tire with air about every 6 months and now the last time the indicator light came up I pressured it propery, but the light dashboard low pressure indiator never went you. He said that "nails" it as the problem. And he was correct. Any other place would have started replacing front suspension parts running up hundreds and perhaps thousands of unecessary charges. Hier Kia wanted $200 to diagnose. I don't have to shop around anymore Thrap is my mechanic. Life is so much easier if you have an honest mechanic you can depend on. Truly a blessing, thank you. He even got which tire it was, front right, wow. I was led to Thrap by yelp and goggle reviews, but you have to read them carefully to discren the truth. Traveling on 95 and our tire sensor went off. We pulled in to this location and as soon as we got in the gentleman behind the counter asked if we were having an issue with the left rear tire. He was kind enough to show us the problem and informed us he did not have the tire we needed but recommended another location that did. Customer service is very poor here. The last time we went to Tharps, Steve the owner was rude. I was trying to discuss with him what was going on with our vehicle. He got offended and completely shut down. He was talking so fast I didn't even understand what was actually happening. I have done business with him for awhile. He is always seemed pretty blunt, and to the point. Speaks very quickly and seems to be low on patience. We have spent good money when we go there. I've even sent people his way to have vehicles fixed. But then to be treated in such a rude way. To not be understood or listen to, is ridiculous. I took my car to two large "chain store" shops close to my home as my AC went out. The quotes came in at over $2,500.00. As I have done in the past, I drove the nineteen miles to Tharp's Complete Auto Repair. They ran tests on the AC and said everything worked as specified and that a simple set screw holding the coolant line had worked itself loose. He also found a faulty oil pressure switch that was slowly leaking oil. Mind you this car had been taken back twice to one of the "quicky oil change" companies as I saw oil on my driveway following their oil change... They kept telling me everything was fine. I am now driving around in a car that no longer leaks oil and has ice cold air thanks to Tharp's! My bill for everything: $160.55 read more

Absolutely horrible, RUDE and DISRESPECTFUL "OWNER"! After my second trip there to fix the A/C, I only wanted to inquire if there would be a diagnostic fee as I said I would not pay for that being the problem is still going on. Steve, "owner", was so rude to the front desk when she tried to inquire then came inside where I was, was confrontational, put his arm fully extended and hand out to my face and aggressively stated, "there's on fee, I just want to see what's wrong with it!" With his angry tone, I looked down and away because I could NOT believe he was taking that freaking stance with a repeat customer who only was inquiring about the fee and I do not like confrontation. Then he says with such attitude, "Look at me when I'm talking to you!" WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? No, I did not say that, but instead stood up and told the front desk I want my keys back. To be THAT aggressive, disrespectful, rude, inappropriate, a bully and in front of other customers.....how is this a business? You could have simply answered your staff or myself calmly so we would know and then would have had a repeat customer and not a bad review. Steve Tharp is a loud mouth arrogant idiot if I could give zero stars I would. I did a drive up at this shop to ask if they could check an ABS code for me because I don't have the capability to test for computer ABS faults myself at home. I never expected anyone to do this for free and was willing to pay. Steve was nasty and smart mouthed from the start to me and his technicians to the point of possible violence happening. When asked how much he would charge his response was did I say I was going to charge you ? leave the keys in the car and get out of it. on and on smart comments rolling out of his mouth. Technician Mike Guidice was very uncomfortable with the whole situation but was very respectful and helpful. Mike gets the five stars not the moron he works for. I've sent people to this shop because it's been in Palm Bay for many years with behavior like this they won't be around much longer. After this experience never again. read more

My transmission overheated & fluid poured out. I had it towed to this shop & they told me I needed a new transmission. Then they charged me$80. I had brought fluid with me, so I filled IT up & drove off. To this day I have not had another problem. Maybe it's just me but I have to say they are a rip off artist. I mean mine doesn't do much as leak so I have no idea what happened that hot summer's day but it sure didn't require a new tranny. read more

Went to get an alignment a few weeks ago and immediately when I pulled up to the garage one employee started to have a fit, cussing and complaining that he had to do an alignment on a Monday morning. This was all right in front of the customer (me). He then looked at my front end, whined some more saying how far out it was and again stormed off complaining and cussing. I finally left without getting my alignment done. Turns out my car was near as close as they could get it in the shop. He was just making an excuse to get out of doing a job he gets PAID to do. I took my vehicle in the Tharp's after having problems with my air conditioning as well as my car running hot and overheating and my lights...the next morning they contacted me and asked me if I was sitting down and told me that they had had my car on the lift and gave me a whole list of stuff that they said was wrong with it...I went in later that morning to go over the list and they proceeded to tell me that with their customers it was safety first and then proceeded to tell me the stuff that needed to be fixed immediately...water pump, tensioner pulley, tires, hoses, engine mount, tie rods...the list goes on and I was told the total which was way over 2000.00 but was told they would give me a ladys day discount of 15%.... I know nothing about cars and trusted that these were all issues that needed to be taken care of and took their word for it... 2100.00 later I was able to pick up my car and they told me that there would be a little noise and vibration because I still had one engine mount that wasn't very good and still needed to be replaced and that there was still work that needed to be done but that everything that was a safety issue and major was done... I drove my car off the lot that afternoon and the vibration and noise was terrible and was something that I did not have an issue with before my car went into the shop. My boyfriend got back into town and was upset about the vibration and noise and so he took it and him and his mechanic looked over the vehicle and the vibration and noise was coming from the tensioner pulley which was supposed to be fixed so he returned the car to Tharps yesterday and was told that it would be fixed right and he picked the car up last night and the car was worse than what it was yesterday so today him and his mechanic looked at it again and ended up fixing the tensioner that was supposed to be fixed yesterday and replacing the serpentine belt.... a 30.00 fix! I am not happy that I spent 2100.00 and trusted these mechanics and have had more issues with it than what I went in for. read more

Was quoted $100 for a quick, simple fix on my VW & then they suddenly raised the price another $60 the day before my appointment. I have plans to head out of town, urgent matter. Don't appreciate being jerked around or the service guy with poor math skills. Should have gotten it in writing. Stay as far away from this place as possible. First they mislead me on the price of a rebuilt Trans they put in my truck but the work had already started . I was alerted to new issues requiring the hire of a welding tech to come on site to assist in removing broken Trans. Then they informed me that my front drive shaft was bad and needed replacing (I had mentioned there was occasional popping noises when I would go around turns and a feeling as if another car hit me from the rear. That's how the pop felt at times.) They would install a new driveshaft Cost seemed to keep going up . A week after the installation of the rebuilt transmission I was on the I-95 at rest stop on my way to work . As I went to leave I attempted to shift the shift column to Reverse and nothing happened. The column shifter was loose and moved freely but was not shifting. I was at the Ft Pierce rest stop and had to call a tow truck. I was 50 miles away from Tharps. I missed work and the charge for a tow was $200. Lucky the tow driver was knowledgeable , HONEST and helpful. He looked under my car and saw That the clutch cable had popped off the transmission. He stated that there was a tab missing from the bushing that held the cable to the transmission. He loosely attached the cable to the Trans and he was able to put it in drive. It was after 8pm and the only thing I could do was to drive it to Tharps. The tow driver charged me $108. After having to call off my hospice shift for the night in Titusville I changed my clothes.(work is currently slow and I had not worked for a couple weeks, this was devastating.) I didn't have the money for another tow truck in the morning from my home if it popped back off. I arrived at Tharps a little after 9 pm and had no choice but to sleep in hot truck( there were no hotels in the near area and I didn't have the extra cash to stay at one anyway ). The next morning I received no hospitality at all( not even a hint of surprise or sympathy of the occurrence . I received only the cold shoulder of facts to come . All business to them .... They put my car up on the lift and then proceeded to tell me that I needed a new clutch cable . They showed me that the bushing that held the clutch cable to the transmission was bad and that I had to have a new clutch cable. My clutch cable worked fine before they put in the rebuilt transmission. They were going to charge me $171 for the clutch cable and $110 for labor. (" about 3 bills" the manager quoted me) I was beside myself and immediately told the manager to lower my car and I drove it over across the street to the Ford dealership . I was in shock and the Services manager at the Ford dealership sensed I believe. They put my car up , charged me $149 for the cable and put it on for almost nothing(20 minutes labor) . I guess I looked pretty stressed out..........Bless u Ford ...Shame on you Tharp people. There's more but have vented enough.............warning stay away. P.S. The truck still occasionally pops in slow turns and feels like at times someone has rear ended me. Three years ago. Thought I would need a new transmission. Tharps told me nope, you need a new computer. Though the costs were almost the same. They put in the new computer and I paid them about $1000.00 give or take a hundred. On my way to work that night, the car did the same thing that I brought it there for. I brought it back . Tharps told me 'OOPS' guess it's not the 1000.00 dollar new computer. I brought it elsewhere and was told I needed new Catalytic converters. That was true.I paid about 600.00 for those. But that mechanic knew what he was doing and it worked. Tharps never offerred to refund evan a portion of the 1000 to 1200 dollars I paid them for a new computer that I didnt' need. DO NOT GO THERE. On 4/25/14 while driving from Florida to North CArolina my truck started running rough while driving on 95. I pulled off and limped in to the Ford dealership right off the exit. It was 4:30 in the afternoon. The service advisor listened to the truck, guessed at what was wrong & said it would probably be over $1000. He stated to come back tomorrow morning because they close at 5:00 and pointed to a hotel. I left & saw the Firestone store. I pulled in and was immediately taken care of. They had a computer diagnosis within minutes, ordered the part and had it delivered & the repair made within 1 hour. I left after paying my $182.21 bill with a smile on my face. So nice to know there are honest places left! I would've given more stars if I could. read more

I had seen Tharp's a few times, heard some good things and when I saw their Monday special on alignments ($49), I was sold! I made an appointment at 7:30am for Monday. The Thursday before I started hearing some weird noises and called to change my appointment to Friday morning, which was available thankfully! Now I just had my driver's side tie rod replaced at a friend's small shop and it cost me a decent amount. After a first look, it turns out my tie rod on the other side was poised to break. So I would need a replacement in addition to the alignment. I freaked, knowing I had allotted only for the alignment in my budget and couldn't go much higher. And these bigger shops usually price gauge. But Tharp's is not one of those. The mechanic explained and showed me the issue. They got me a price quickly which was even lower than my friend's smaller shop with the alignment at regular price! Harold and everyone at Tharp's were professional and super friendly. My experience with Tharp's has been a great one so far. I was having starting problems with my car and was told it was my alternator needed to be replaced (not by tharps) took in my own part and had it replaced. Started fine for about a week then started having the same problems again; Turned out not being my alternator but my starter. Not Tharp's fault but my own for not having it diagnosed properly (definitely will not make that mistake again) but Atleast now I have a brand new alternator that I know will be working like a champ , went back to Tharp's and had my new starter installed . Car starts everytime now no problem, only issue i had with these services were was my belt was not tightened all the way when the alternator was replaced but all I had to do was take it in and it was tightened there quickly with no issues , no attitudes- Nothing! :) Now my car is running like a champ. They really do stand behind their work. Best part is you can also bring in your own parts if you'd like , but do keep in mind that parts will not be covered by their warranty , only the work will be. Staff is very kind and caring for your safety. Love it here and I will be going back for future repairs . Tharp's Rocks!! read more

This place sucks. Never go there. There staff and specially owner is very rude. There customer service is very poor. There owner might shout at you and yell at you for not doing his job.
