Battery was dead even after charging it. Googled the battery since I knew it was under warranty. Mark answered and was very helpful. They tested it, charged it, thought it was ok but he wasn't liking the readings. They replaced the battery under warranty and off we went. After speaking to not one, not two, but 5 car shops trying to get someone to help me, I finally decided to call Coastal Foreign Auto Service. I have never been treated as well at a mechanic shop as I was here. I needed help assessing my brakes and a tail light issue after being rear ended last week. And for no charge, the gentleman who helped me, Chris, made sure my car was safe to drive, looked over my brakes, diagnosed my tail light issue, and even called another fellow from a different car shop to come talk to me and give advice about insurance. Two years ago I took my 2003 Toyota Camry to Coastal Foreign Auto Service for a smog check. According to them it failed during the test as the Check Engine light came on. I had never experienced this problem with this car and was suspicious the check engine light would come on only during their test. At my insistance, they reset the light and restested the car three times and could not get the light to come on again. In the last two years since, the check engine light has not come on. It is possible that incident was a rare intermittent problem but I will not take my car back to Coastal Foreign. read more

I have gone to these guys for at least 12 years and they have saved me thousands in unneeded repairs that were "recommended" elsewhere. They will always try to fix the least expensive part first if the point of failure is not clear. I was referred to Coastal Foreign by the manager at O'Reilly Auto Parts near Chick-Fil-A about 2+ years ago - and I'm glad I was. I have an Acura MDX and a Toyota Prius. Chris, who has been the primary person working on my cars has been wonderful. Super friendly, very genuine, extremely knowledgeable and above all, very honest. And, if he doesn't know something, he'll tell you he needs to do some research on it and he'll get back to you. He has definitely saved me money on various issues over the past 2 years. He recently diagnosed a problem on my MDX's A/C that the dealer wanted to charge me $500 just to check it out because they said they had to flush the system. Chris figured out what was wrong, I bought the part on my own and he fixed it for $75!!!. As we all know, auto repair can be costly, and many times, done by people who are not completely above board.
