FIC Smog in Encinitas was awesome. After wasting 45 minutes in traffic and then another 50 minutes at a different smog station that basically just let my car sit there idling before it failed, coming to FIC was a huge relief. I've got a 2018 Subaru with only 55k miles, so I knew something about that first experience felt off. The team at FIC was super patient with me the whole way through, especially since I had to reschedule a few times while trying to get the car ready. They were friendly, understanding, and clearly knew what they were doing. They even checked my OBD II O2 sensor before the smog test, which I really appreciated. That alone showed me they actually care about helping people instead of just running cars through the line. Once I got there, I was in and out in about 15 minutes. Called at the end of the day and asked if I could come in for a smog. I was asked what time was good for me the following day and brought it in around 9a. Waited while it was done. Didn't have to pay an arm and a leg just because it was done in Encinitas. The parking lot is a mess in that center which is nothing new, but I was able to find a spot no problem right out front. My first few attempts at smogging a Jeep Wrangler proved unsuccessful at other smog shops. All I was ever told was that I failed. Or "go drive the car around" and all kinds of other useless information. That was until I failed inspection at FIC. He asked me a few questions about my car then told me specifically what to google to find out how to actually do a cycle reset so it was then ready to test. Had I known that after spending money repairing parts on the car I more than likely would have just passed the first time around. I had the repair done but then was having difficulty getting the car ready for a successful smog test. My car failed the first smog test here because I didn't know disconnecting the battery resets the emissions sensors, but the folks at FIC told me how I could fix that and come back for a retest at a lower rate. They also double checked the sensors were ready before starting the retest to make sure I wouldn't waste my money. Solid recommendation here read more
