My truck has been tested by Encinitas Smog every two years since 2018, and the service has been excellent. Appointments made, time to complete given, and the vehicle was always ready for pickup. In 2026, the truck failed. Had an O2 sensor replaced recently, and programming the truck's computer takes time to calibrate, including a gas tank's worth of driving. The shop gave me a cheat sheet on how to fix and 90 days to retake the 2nd test. Second time, it passed and is good for another 2 years. read more

I had a very easy and smooth experience with Encinitas Smog Center two years ago when I had to get the car smogged as part of my registration renewal. So when I had to get the car smogged again this year, I went back. I made the appointment over the phone with Ben, and he said it would take about 30 minutes. I brought the car in at the appointed time, went for a walk, went back in 30 minutes, and the car was ready and waiting. The test results had already been submitted to the DMV, I paid and was on my way. Both Ben and the gentleman who I interacted with the first time I went to Encinitas Smog Center were both very professional and easy to work with. I had received a promotional coupon in the mail and used that. I don't know how the price compares to other auto businesses that provide smog services, but based on previous experiences with other businesses, I think it was fair and competitive. Been coming here since before it moved to the D street location. It used to still be on 101 but not on D st. Never had a problem getting a Smog. You can either call for an appointment or just show up. I showed up and they have a Yelp Coupon for a Smog and they have the coupon written on a Whiteboard in the office too. Super easy, they said it would take about 20 minutes. I left to run some errands and my car was parked and done, waiting for my return. You pay the smog fee and certification and they take care of all the paperwork. Once I paid dmv fee, my registration showed up little over a week later. read more

The lady who works in the office was kind and efficient, she was very conscientious of people waiting in line and was super helpful. I had the WORST experience with smog test here. We moved from Indiana and had no idea how smog tests worked. We have a subaru wrx sti and some parts modded and we knew we needed to get it changed. We just wanted to go get a smog test so that we would know exactly what was wrong and that we can switch parts back to basics. We told them that and ended up they FLAGGED our car and reported us to state without letting us know! They told us that our car was worthless that we needed to drive it out of the state to SELL because it was going to be more expensive to change parts! I was DEVASTATED. Luckily we were able to switch all parts back to originals for less than $2000 AND passed the state REFEREE smog inspection and test. They did not even TELL us we were flagged! We had NO idea until we tried to get another smog test after we switched to original parts! Even the DMV told us that it was shitty of them and that they never should have flagged us. All they had to do was tell us what needed to be done. Horrible horrible horrible. If you are from out of state and do not understand smog do NOT go to them. I cried so hard because I had no idea what to do. Thank God we were led to the right direction and passed the state referee test instead of listening to them to sell our car out of state. This shows what kind of knowledge they actually have. I will never recommend them. read more

They moved to a new location on 2nd Street, far easier to get in and out of. These guys are AWESOME! Definitely make an appointment, you go to the top of the list for any walk-ins pending service. Quick, easy, and very friendly - you need not search for another smog check place, this is it! Normal price $55, although they do offer a coupon now and then so be on the look out for that as well!
