Printed a coupon for $10 off. I have a Tacoma dbl cab and they charges me $49.40. Per their sign on the wall typically it's $49.50 for smog, then $8 for the certificate, so I guess it's discounted? This place is incredible. What a fabulous experience. I was a walk in 1sr thing in the AM. My old Volkswagon mechanic was there with a car for his shop. My new mechanic referred me. Encinitas Smog center is the only place that I smog my vehicles. For years out VW Eurovan failed every year. We heard that driving the rig around to heat it up would burn out some of the crud. We drove the van in hot and they helped us get the test done immediately and this was the difference between passing and failing. This year we replaced the catalytic converter and some hoses but wanted to have a retest option, just in case. Encinitas Smog is the only local center with a free retest. Our van passed promptly with flying colors today. I love this place. read more

Professional, fast, and excellent attention to detail. I appreciated the up front and transparent nature of how they do business. I called in advance same day, but then I got stuck in traffic. I called them to let them know and they accommodated the unplanned change in my schedule to still squeeze us in before they closed that day. DO NOT GO HERE! An appointment is meaningless. I made an appointment for 2:30. Dropped it off at 2:20 and asked when to come back; he said 3. Walked around and came back at 3. Dude waited 10 minutes before he would even talk to me, Then he said THEY HAD NOT EVEN STARTED WORKING ON IT YET but would try to get to it soon. We had to leave and my husband accidentally left a nice bottle of bourbon in the waiting room. The shop was closing and my husband had to have surgery the next week, so I called and left a message saying to save it for us and he would come in to get it after he recovered from surgery. Husband just went in and asked for it; dude said he didn't know, but had a look on his face like he did. An appointment is meaningless and they stole our bottle of bourbon. Could it get any worse? This is the place to go for a smog check. I have been here many times over the years and have always found that the service is fast and the staff is friendly and honest. They are a smog check only center, so you don't have to worry about them looking for other problems to repair. Last time I made the mistake of going somewhere else. The other place found a problem that ended up costing me a lot of money to repair. I don't know if the problem was there before I went in or if it was a created problem so that they could make money off of me. I ended up taking my car somewhere else to have the work done, but I will never know if they caused the problem or not. The car was very low miles, so it was very suspicious. This time I went back to the Encinitas Smog Center because I knew I could trust them. I had an appointment and got in immediately upon arrival. They say, "an honest smog at a fair price" but how can they say that without knowing how to run their business? Sure, if you pass everything is fine and dandy. But if you fail, they don't have a clue. And of course they charge you. Worst of all, they tell you to come back wasting your time over and over again. What they failed to tell me (the 3x i returned to pass the test) is that the "Referee" will grant you a waiver for 2 years until the car passes. Bottom line, they will waste your time. Don't. Go. They can usually get you in the next day, the prices are fair and they know how to safely work on nice cars. They had no problem with the Maserati, Porsche, or MBZ and I felt like they cared.
