We have a maintenance contract with Dial One Sonshine for our HVAC and water heater. They have…read morealways been good at calling for the regular maintenance and have been very thorough in their maintenance and noting any problems and letting us know. This time, inspecting the water heater (which is 11 years old), most things checked out as OK, but with their camera that goes into the tank, there was a lot of mineral deposits noted and those deposits are affecting the capacity and the ability to be effective. They said I should get a new water heater. It is still usable, but could go out anytime, and there could have problems in leaks. I was given the cost of replacing our heater. I had not planned on it, but in considering the likelihood of upcoming problems, decided to do so. They worked with me on the price, and it was installed the next day. The technicians who came out to check and do maintenance were James and Jesse. As I said, they were very thorough to check the heater, check the water flow throughout the house, and in their communications. I would have them come to my house again. The person who installed it was Allen and he installed it well, gave me all new needed attachments, and even after he was done, I asked him to do one more thing. Without hesitation he did that, which took another 20 minutes. He did everything right. I would have him come back if I needed something else installed. I am very pleased with Dial One Sunshine and with the people sent out to do their service calls and work. I recommend the company and those workers.

He turned it off and said he had to wait until it thawed. He cam back out the next day and said the unit they installed just 5 yrs ago obviously has a leak and could be diagnosed for leak, but that they suggest replacing the whole thing, cooler and heater for $18k!! Saying that even if diagnostics and repair of leak, there is no guarantee and may end up costing more. Another option, replace the cooling system only and not the heater, would be only $14k!! Upon further inquisition, and explaining, the unit they installed just 5 yrs ago is expected to last longer than 5 yrs, they tried explaining it's like a car, sometimes they last a long time and sometimes, they don't. But hello, they have lemon laws! They went on the further explain that they were under new ownership with new employees and all and that they had to replace the unit and at our cost, they would not keep warranty, saying that it was not under some California state regulations anymore. Then said they will talk with new owners and get back to us. We sent him on his way and got a second opinion first thing next day. With over 30 yrs experience, quickly identified the leak, and the problem was fixed in 10 minutes at a very minimal cost!! Turned on, working, blowing cold air! Shannon is very meticulous which I appreciated and paid attention to detail. The outside shut off valve also needed the regulator replaced (the cost was very expensive) but the house is 20+ years old so I gave my approval. Shannon did an excellent job and didn't mind me watching, not to check his work but to learn, I'm always looking to learn about any trade. Afterwords they cleaned up everything and were on their way. As a side note Shannon reminded me of an old biker friend of mine. Don't let the looks deceive you, he is a master at his craft.

When their technician visited, he recommended installing a pressure regulator because of high water pressure and suggested replacing the old T-zone as well. I agreed to pay $1,100 for the entire job. Before the scheduled work, I sent a clear email detailing that I wanted the T-zone replaced and the water pressure regulator installed above it, along with a few other requests. I was at work during the appointment, and my husband was home. To my disappointment, a different technician showed up, did not bother to check my email, and ignored the request to replace the old T-zone, claiming he was only there to do what was initially mentioned. Despite paying the full $1,100, the main issue (replacing the old T-zone) was not resolved. I have filed multiple complaints, but the company has been unresponsive and unhelpful, offering only a minimal $75 refund and a sewer camera test which I did not need. They promised a manager would call me back, but I have heard nothing. I strongly advise others to be careful when dealing with this company, as they do not follow instructions and fail to take responsibility for their work.
