I have laundry in my building, but there are only three washers and three dryers for the entire building. I will typically walk the block to do all of my laundry at once. Last night (a Saturday), I arrived around 7:40PM to quickly do two loads. Last wash is at 8PM on weekends. The young lady stops me before I get to the change machine to ask me if I'm dropping off. I state that I was not. She then proceeds to tell me how long it will be to wash and how long it will take me to dry my items, trying to turn me away. I ask if she can change my $20 bill. She says that she can, but I couldn't get any quarters. I was taken aback by the treatment as according to their posted policy, the last wash is at 8PM. I just asked for my money back and left. Highly disappointed with the treatment. read more

Highly recommend this laundromat! I was in need of a place to do laundry due to the coin shortage. I called ahead to confirm they did have coins and they have a coin machine. It is very clean and the staff is friendly! read more

Very clean, well-maintained space with great machines. Came here because of the quarter shortage, but have been coming back because the machines are much nicer than the ones in my building, getting my clothes both cleaner and drier in a shorter amount of time. Even though it means doing an additional thing in public, it's worth it. read more

People that own the place are very rude. Been to the location twice and ownership has over stepped appropriate reach for what your trying to do, which is wash clothes. They watch that coin machine like a hawk and yell at you "customers only" even if you are a customer trying to get coins. Let's face it, coin laundry nearby, it's what you need. If you have choices though you should avoid this place. Also it is way over priced. Amazing that alone hasn't put them out of business, much less all the other negative reviews. read more

The current rate is $1.00/lb., which is still about as cheap (or cheaper) than it would be do to it yourself - in terms of time and supplies. My clothes were ready in under four hours. They came back perfectly folded and organized by like items. The employees are friendly and helpful. The machines look new and clean, if you opt to do it yourself. As for me, I don't think I will ever wash another piece of clothing again. I think I'm in love! read more

DO NOT DO YOUR LAUNDRY HERE!!!!!! I brought in my expensive dark purple sheets from bed bath that I had washed about 8 times before. There was some sort of bleach in the machine before I used it and my sheets got RUINED. To top it all off, my TOWEL and SWEATSHIRT got burn HOLES in them from the dryers!! When I tried to nicely ask the owner for at least my money back from the load of laundry that got bleached (I have never used bleach in my life on my own clothes) he gave me a dollar and told me to go buy a coffee, claiming that his machines would NEVER do that. He was sooo MEAN!!! There was no need for that. So basically, only go here if you want to take a chance on your clothes. read more

Coachlight has good, reasonably priced drop-off service that I highly recommend. If you want to wash your clothes yourself, Coachlight's machines are cheaper than other laundromats (although they did just raise their one loaders to $1.50) and the attendants there are always really nice. I have to give them three stars because the place is so small and sometimes there are no washers available, even if you go at a weird time like at 10 am on a Tuesday. Folding tables are often at a premium, as are chairs. They only have four triple load washers (always taken) and nothing big enough to properly handle a comforter. My local laundromat dream is that Coachlight will take over the space on Broadway and Roscoe that the Spin Cycle so ignominiously vacated and offer polite, cheap, roomy, laundry facilities for the whole neighborhood. Then I will change my review to five stars. read more

$1 a pound wash & fold. They're quick, too. Saves me so much time and energy, but also has made me into about as lazy a person as possible. Sigh, but that's not really their fault. read more

Their drop off option gives me an opportunity to enjoy my Sundays a little more. For 90 cents a pound (minimum 10 lbs) they will wash, dry and fold your laundry. I've never had a problem with their turnaround time. I've had no problems so far so they're a keeper. read more

A little overpriced for the size of the washing machines.. Otherwise your typical laundromat.

I've been going here to do my laundry on and off since I moved down the street from it. I've never had a problem getting a washer or dryer when I do my clothes myself. This past week I decided to try drop off service for the first time. I was very happy to be able to drop my things off in the morning at 8 and they were ready for me at 4pm the same day when I went to pick them up. The price was good and everything came back folded very nicely and in great, clean condition. Many thanks for the clean clothes so now I can enjoy the great weather this weekend instead of staying in and doing laundry! read more

Ugh, the name of this place makes me wish there was a stagecoach I could take here. It's like how we all feel when we first heard Ravenswood and pictured scary old mansions and rickety iron gates amidst a fog that never dissipates. When the L train enters the neighborhood, it turns into one rickety caboose. etc. *sigh* Anyways, It's rarely crowded unless you come in at 8 and the machines aren't overpriced. Oh, I hope you like ABC playing in the background. *goes back to dreaming about Ravenswood* read more

Currently about $2.50 to wash and 25c per 10 min to dry. DO NOT try to start washing anytime after 8:45 PM, they WILL kick you out at 10:00 on the dot. I made that mistake and they didn't let me finish drying my load. It's the cheapest option in my neighborhood to wash, but I wish I had more choices. read more

I have done laundry here once or twice. I was on my way to pick up my dirty laundry around the corner. I stopped in to get some quarters because I figured it would be easier to just get the quarters before I had about 10 bags of laundry in my hand. I got the quarters and as I was leaving I was accosted at the door by a foreign sounding man who told me not to come back anymore. Oh man, where will I ever find another laudromat in Chicago!? read more

Loved this place simply cause they have enough washer/dryers and they are close to a bar! What'a not to like? Helpful staff and clean machines. read more

I have been using CoachLight for a couple months now because the machines in my building suuuuuuuckkkk. And now I don't do it myself which is so sooooo nice. The staff is friendly. The laundry comes home nicely folded. They're pretty fast. I drop off before work and always pick up after. I've only had to pick up the next day once. No big deal. All I ask is that they wash in cold water. No other special instructions. For 90 cents a lb. I don't want to give them too much hastle. So I would recommend CoachLight to anyone who doesn't have a bunch of specifics. You get what you pay for. 90 cents a lb. is awesome for low maintenance laundry. read more

Shocked when I picked up laundry and price was $20 for 20lbs! (12/2010)

This place is awesome. I drop my clothes off weekly. I think her name is Marina? and she is so incredibly nice. And they do my laundry better than I could. It is so worth the money. My clothes smell good and are folded to perfection! I just love this place. If you are hesitant about drop off service...just try it once. You will be hooked! read more

I tried to use this laundromat because my apartment's dryer broke after I had already washed my clothes. I went to Coachlight and was told not to bring my laundry into their store if I'm only going to dry it. I explained my situation, and I was told I could only use their store if I was going to wash and dry. read more

Awful staff. I live in the neighborhood and had 3 items I had to wash for tomorrow. When I was at the coin machine the lady started yelling at me that I'm "stealing coins" because I don't have any items. I showed her my laundry bag with my items in it. She kept going on this tangent of how I'm lying about washing anything because i didn't have a large bag of items. After her going off in her Russian/Ukranian accent I'm DEFINITELY NOT going back. She literally tried to corner me and it made me really uncomfortable, especially going back and forth with her. read more

This is my first Chicago laundromat experience and it could have been better. I got off work late and called ahead to ask about the last load, which I was told was 9pm. I had my laundry going by 8:50 so I thought I was being a good patron. However, the owner was quick to check in on me and reminded me several times they close at 10. She kept coming around, making sure I was doing my best to get out of there. She even made me split my laundry into two dry loads and use the hot setting to be done on time. I don't like being rushed and now I'm taking my laundry home a crumpled hot mess. Thanks for a good first time experience? read more

I'm visiting from Hawaii and was looking for a laundromat near the hotel, after reading the reviews I wasn't so sure I wanted to try this one. Well I was surprised, it was very clean and neat, everything worked well. The folding tables were spotless;) There is an attendant there, in the back, who you don't notice at first, she came out several times to assist customers who needed it and mop up snow being tracked in. She was very nice. I would definitely recommend the Coachlight. They will also do your laundry for you, I just prefer to do it myself. read more

The first time I went to drop off laundry, the woman said, "If you don't like it, don't come back." I haven't been back because most of my socks have found their somewhat long-term relationships twisted, and their matchups were so distorted from this laundry experience that even my feet are confused as to which is left or right. I haven't noticed that any of my own clothing has come up missing, but I did manage to take in two foster shirts and a pair of someone else's chonies, and they're not even a cute pair or even something I might exhibit peeking out from my baggiest homey pants. If I had liked the inherited items, I might have come back, but I wouldn't dare risk my cute green or blue booty briefs winding up on someone else's ass. read more

Love the cleanliness of this laundry. Dryers are hot and get things dried quickly. Best part of Coachlight is hard working Lana who is well liked by her customers. I will not go any place else because of Lana's service!! read more

This place was my lifesaver!!! The laundry room in my building gets crowded at times and becomes a long wait before I'm able to wash my clothes. I had more than several loads of laundry to do and Coachlight was able to wash & dry everything all in the same day! This was my first time using them and I was impressed. I'm so thankful to have come across this laundry mat, thanks to the wonderful reviews on yelp. I will definitely be using them again! read more

You would think that with coin laundry becoming obsolete, this place would want your business. Not the case here. I went in to check out the machines and make sure there were some available since I had to walk some ways with my clothes. There were plenty open, which was a deal maker for me, but when I went to the coin machine, the attendant started harassing me voraciously because I didn't have my clothes with me. I explained that I had a few loads and was walking and I wanted to make sure I wasn't going to have to wait. Granted, I probably could have got the change when I came back, but I was in a time crunch and thought I could be proactive. Because of him harassing me, I left to get my laundry and decided to not go back. I didn't want this chauvinistic man hovering over me to make sure I was doing my laundry the way he liked it (probably so he could take a mental inventory of my undergarments or something.) read more
