Places like Co-op Downtown are what I miss out on the most living in NYC. The community feel in this place was so strong I felt like I was in a Hallmark movie. I was in here 2 of my 3 days in Bozeman DECIMATING this hot bar littered with locally sourced foods ($10.90 per lb). I tried the tomato bisque soup with a piece of a baguette, organic ground beef, grilled yams, fresh vegetables, organic chicken, etc. I'm a slut for a good tomato bisque and love getting up in some good yams, but who doesn't? I also tried 3 different types of jerky, with the head and shoulders best one being the B Bar Ranch Organic, Grass Fed/Grass Finished Beef Jerky. It was spiritual. I bought an extra pack on the way out to give to my girlfriend but it just didn't make it. It too, was decimated. I would be living in here if I lived in Bozeman. ONE LOVE! When picked up from the airport and being taken to my hotel, the shuttle driver suggested that we eat at Co-op Downtown as it was delicious and one of the more affordable places to eat in the area. It wasn't bad, it definitely reminded me of the salad bar at a WholeFoods but on a much smaller scale. In addition to being a salad bar, it's also a small market where you can buy a few high end food items. Plenty of seating, the dining area felt a little like a cafeteria or a food hall, pretty spacious. Employees were friendly and eager to answer any questions or recommend items. I also appreciated the extra effort this spot takes to separate compost, landfill, and recycling. Ambiance is very small town coffee shop/small local grocery store, minimalist but inviting and very clean.

It's was snowy day. I went into store and want some soup. Great place to grab what you want. Customer service was good. Very family friendly locations. If you are in the area check it out

This local coop in downtown Bozeman is a great stop for fresh locally grown produce prepared in many delicious ways.

If in a pinch and want a hot bar or salad bar then for 11.99/lb you can mix and match both. Salad bar had the basics and a few extras. I went with 45 mins left before closing and the salad bar was honestly weak after reading all the raving reviews. All the lettuce/spinach options were wilted and dry. I dug deep and found a few pieces of acceptable lettuce for $11.99/lb. Then i just used the last scoop of shredded carrots, and red cabbage as my base. The cukes, tomatoes, cauliflower, red onions, and broccoli were great. The peppers were square cut red and yellow peppers which i thought was odd. No pepperoncinis or cherry peppers were offered but plenty of radishes and what looked like beet strip jerky?? The curry chicken salad had good reviews and no hot bar was open when i was there so i figured id try it. Grabbed a chunk of baguette for an extra 0.35$ and made a lil curry chicken salad sandwich. The chicken salad had cartilage in it which is why i legit never order or eat it. The dressing options were rather good with a real thick garlic ranch that was nice. 3 kinds of cheese offered on the bar and various kinds of peeled seeds. The croutons appeared homemade and were seemingly stale, and thats saying something for a crout! I doused this concoction with blue cheese dressing on half and ranch on the other to cover up the wilted lettuce ha. Once the croutons were saturated they were better. No soda in the store which was a bummer but the organic raspberry lemonade was a good substitute. Overall the salad and drink cost me 26$ and i had to do the work of making it with sub par lettuces and running out of other ingredients. Looking back I probably shouldve ordered a salad at a restaurant.

Lots of seating

Stopped here after yoga class to get a smoothie! A little overpriced at 6.50 for a basic smoothie, but really delicious.

The best place for a healthy meal. Build your own salad oracle your own hot lunch-style meal. Almost always a good variety.

Great organic food! Salad bar is excellent. Just ignore the Marxist clientele.

**November 2025: Sunday Afternoon Visit**…read more My mom and I were looking for some local Montana gifts and food and saw the huge Co-op building on a drive down Main Street. The parking lot is kind of small, but we were able to find a spot to squeeze into on our visit. When you enter the building you'll see an impressive self-serve section and I noticed quite a few people loading up their plates or to go boxes. There's an island of ingredients to make your own salad and a couple of home made soups, and another area for hot items. My mom and I decided to share a squash soup, a small salad, and an assortment of hot items including South Carolina pulled pork, mac n cheese, biscuits and gravy, and mashed potatoes. I also decided to try a local kombucha which was really refreshing. We grabbed our utensils close to the exit and headed upstairs to enjoy our food. After we devoured everything we perused the main floor and bought a lot of Montana based goodies including teas, Bequet caramels, soaps, and skincare products. Suffice to say I spent quite a bit of money here, but I'm happy to support local and be able to share the Montana spirit with my family and friends! I'd say Community Food Co-op is kind of like a cross between Trader Joes and Whole Foods, but with a great emphasis on sustainability and local goods. Price range is $$-$$$ range depending on the items.

So cool, no Super Cool! Specialty Market that focuses on…read morelocal wares! Displays and selections are extraordinary. Staff and service are first rate. There is even a small cafe upstairs where many locals stop in daily for a quality lunch. I had an excellent Cappuccino. Once I completed my shopping.
