I highly recommend Ricardo at CMX Beauty! After seeing another stylist on Wednesday and not getting the results I was hoping for, I was searching for someone who could help before a wedding this weekend. I'm so glad I found Ricardo. He's incredibly talented and took the time to listen to my concerns, explain what was going on with my hair, and recommend a gloss to neutralize the warm tones. I couldn't be happier with the results. Ricardo and the owner, Clodoveu, made the entire experience so enjoyable. My husband even stopped by during my appointment, and we all ended up having a great conversation. They made us feel so welcome. Great people, great atmosphere, and exceptional service. I'll definitely be back! read more

Unprofessional before I even walk through the door TLDR: They are more concerned with protecting themselves than the comfort of their customers. CMX offers free consultations on their website, which is not true. I sent them an email a couple weeks ago asking to book a consult and never heard back. When I called them last week, i was told by the gal who answered the phone that they do not have access to their email inbox, nor do they offer the free consult. This was the first indicator that these folks might not be very professional, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. They do charge a 50.00 consult fee, but deduct it from the price of your service if/when you choose to do a service. So, I booked a 30 minute consult for cut and color with Clod with a second appointment booked for a week after, assuming the consult went well. She did also let me know that she would be sending me a new customer form to fill out and an invoice for the 50.00 consult. On the morning of my appointment, I read through the forms I was sent by the salon. The first form is essential a release of liability that states in part: "By receiving a color service at CMX Beauty, I understand and agree to the following: I understand that products such as dry shampoo, root sprays, temporary color, oils, or heavy styling products can create a barrier on the hair and may prevent the color from properly penetrating or fixing to the hair. I understand that this may affect the final result, including uneven color, lighter results, or reduced longevity. I understand that CMX Beauty is not responsible for color results affected by product buildup, previous color, box dye, or any prior chemical services. I understand that a 50% deposit is required to secure my appointment and is non-refundable if I cancel or reschedule within 24 hours. I understand that CMX Beauty does not offer free redos or guarantees on color services. I understand that any adjustments, corrections, or changes after my appointment will be considered a new service and will be charged at full price." This was the second indicator that this salon may not be the professional place that I was seeking. I have NEVER seen anything like this from a hair salon, let alone before even meeting the colorist who would be doing my hair for a consult. I also did try to pay the 50.00 invoice, but their online bill pay service was not working. I tried to call a few times, but no one answered and their voicemail asks you to send a text instead. I went to the salon's website hoping to find more information, and what I found was a review from the end of July from a customer who explained that she had her scalp burned when the same person that I had a consult with did her color, and she was a repeat customer. All of this frightened me, and I continued to call and text. I requested a call back, but instead, the person who replied said they could not call me because they were "in class at college." This was 30 minutes before my appointment. When I texted back all of these concerns, and said that if we could not have a conversation, I wanted to cancel the consult and cut and color appointments, they seemed to be concerned only about the 24-hr cancellation policy and resent me the invoice. So they had enough time to send me the invoice, but not to have a phone conversation with me. They said the that invoice was sent automatically, which I do not believe as it was sent within a minute of me saying that i wanted to cancel the appointment. There was no response for the next 40 minutes. Then, about 30 minutes after my appointment would have started, I got a lengthy text letting me know that they would be canceling my appointments because they felt it would be best "not to move forward with your (my) appointments." They also stressed that the liability form is required to "ensure expectations are clear for both our clients and the salon before any service is provided." Then the person continued, "at this point, we don't believe we are the right fit for you, so we will be canceling your appointment and will not be rescheduling." I'm sharing this review because this was my experience BEFORE I even walked into the salon. It can be tough to find someone you trust with your hair, and it should be a professional AND relaxing experience. This was the complete opposite, and I want to warn others who are considering giving these folks their business. read more

As I was visiting Burlingame from out of town today I went to CDX for a color touch-up and had such a wonderful experience. The quality of work and attention to the details for my hair by Ricardo was great! He and Clod made me feel like I was visiting a friend's salon. The space is charming, with white painted brick walls and lots of light and a very comfortable hair washing chair where you lie completely vertical. I really liked the Italian organic hair products used for my curly hair too. Clod, I also appreciated your suggestions on how to take better care of my hair health. I highly recommend this salon! read more

I can't say enough good things about Ricardo. Before finding him, I had resorted to cutting my own hair because no stylist ever truly listened when I said I wanted it both long and healthy. I'd leave salons with more than a trim. Ricardo completely changed that for me. From the start, he understood exactly what I wanted and created a plan that actually worked. Between his planned out trims and nourishing treatments, my hair has come back to life and is the healthiest it has ever been. Not only is he incredibly skilled, but he's also one of the kindest people you'll meet always patient, attentive, caring, and extremely easy to talk to. I leave loving my hair and super happy as if I just left a hangout with a friend. Thanks to Ricardo, I finally feel like my hair reflects the vision I've always had for it. If you want someone who truly listens and delivers, I couldn't recommend him more highly. read more

I felt pampered and I loved how my hair turned out on my first visit, hence, I went back for another appointment with him. The atmosphere of the shop is awesome - very cozy and classy. The owner is also very friendly. I am happy that I discovered this gem. I highly recommend this salon and Ricardo for hairdresser. You won't be disappointed! read more

I've loved every visit here. The vibe is chill and relaxed in the best way--no pressure, no fuss, just good energy. Clod really listens: I show up with a half-formed idea and he somehow turns it into exactly what I pictured. The first time, I chopped my long hair into a sharp little bob and walked out feeling like a new person. My hair always feels totally safe in his hands, and every cut since has been spot-on. This place is a rare find, and I'd highly recommend it! read more

CMX Beauty in Burlingame is an absolute gem, and let me tell you, their Oway hair products are like magic potions in gorgeous, glass eco-friendly bottles! From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with warmth and expertise that set the tone for the beginning of a wonderful experience and connection. First off, can we just talk about Oway products for a minute? Where have they been all my life? Organic, natural, and utterly divine! They have this captivating scent that's refreshingly organic and natural, yet not "hippie." It's like a walk through a blooming garden after a summer rain--just perfect! And the best part? It's not just the scent that's intoxicating; it's the way these products make my hair feel. My hair has gone through a lot of changes these last few years and the aging process has not been kind. Because I was having to color more hair more often I researched and found Oway professional color, and it has made a huge difference in reducing scalp irritation. Because I had such a great experience with the professional color I decided I wanted to see what else they had so I found my closest salon and just dropped by one afternoon to pick up a few things to try. Can I tell you that my hair has never felt so soft, clean and nourished! If you try just one thing--get the Oway Glossy Nectar and never look back. I've tried all the things-from Aveda to Davines, Kerastase and Oribe. I've never had anything like Glossy Nectar. I use one pump a couple times of day because I love how it makes my hair feel and smell! I also love the Frequent Use Hair Bath & Conditioner, Moisturizing Hair Masque, Thermo Detangling Cloud and the Smoothing Fluid. I just purchased the Flowerfall Scalp Spray and Vivifying Remedy for Sensitive Scalp. Now, let's talk about Clodoveu. You immediately feel a best friend you are meeting for the first time! Clodoveu's knowledge about the Oway products is unparalleled. He took the time to understand my hair type, concerns, and preferences before recommending the perfect products for me. His genuine passion for hair care and commitment to customer satisfaction truly shines through-even the way he thoughtfully packs your items into a handled bag! Thanks to Clodoveu, I left CMX Beauty feeling like a million bucks, armed with the perfect arsenal of Oway products to maintain my hair's journey in this stage of life! If you're in Burlingame and searching for a hair care haven, look no further than CMX Beauty. With their impeccable service, top-notch Oway products, and Clodoveu's expertise, you're guaranteed a five-star experience every time. Highly, highly recommend! read more

Clodoveu has been cutting my (long, thick) hair for over a year now, helping me grow out some impulsive blunt bangs and actually get comfortable with layers - and doing a great job! I don't feel any pressure to cut more off, or do anything trendy/ outside my comfort zone, or get a cut that requires more product and style than I'll ever actually do in real life. He also gives me honest feedback if I have a style idea but I'm not sure how it will look / act on my hair. So valuable! Now he has his own shop and I am thrilled. Clodoveu's new salon was put together with his clients in mind, and it really shows. Relaxing ambiance, current and clean design, VERY comfortable hair washing station (no neck cranking!), and zero clutter in the space. It's a nice place to spend some time and zen out - just what I love in a salon. The product line he carries is quite wonderful too - my hair has never felt so clean and healthy 3+ days after a haircut and blow dry. I'm in the extra low maintenance category of hair care - i.e. wash once a week, no products, all that. Usually after a salon cut I feel like I need to wash out the product after a day or two, but that's absolutely not the case with this line. In sum: highly recommend! read more

Clodeveu just opened his own salon recently and it is wonderful. Great natural light and an entirely new line of all natural products in an industrial chic environment. I have been going to him since I moved to San Jose last July and he is not only kind but incredibly talented. As always, my highlights and haircut are on point and I walked out feeling completely refreshed. I also enjoy the time spent with his other clients in between processes, everyone takes their time with him as a mini retreat. read more

I just started working with Clodoveu and so happy I stepped into his salon. I previous stylist was great but the product line she uses burns my scalp leaving it feeling numb. The products at CMX are such high quality, my hair feels healthy and silky after my color. Clodoveu does a wonderful job matching and getting my greys colored, the time spent is efficient, the cut is perfect, and his blowouts are exceptional. I'll have him take pictures of my next appointment. read more
