I come down from Ventura to see "Shady", and his name couldn't be more ironic, because there's nothing shady about him or his work. He's been maintaining my 2005 Lexus SC430 and has saved me a boatload of money on repairs and maintenance over the years. He's respectful, friendly, and clearly takes pride in getting things right. My most recent service made the car run like it did when it was new. The engine is humming smoothly again, something I've honestly NEVER experienced after a repair or routine maintenance anywhere else and I've owned this car since 2007. And while the name S & M Automotive might make some people do a double take (hahaha), the only thing painful here is realizing how unnecessary other repair bills can be once you find a mechanic this good and dependable. We were dealing with an incident claim at the nearby Walmart auto center (they broke our windshield during an OIL CHANGE. DO NOT RECOMMEND) and randomly found Parra's on maps. Mr Parra himself was already with a customer but came over to us as soon as he was done with them. He very quickly assessed the issue, asked us to park closer, fixed it immediately (even though we ordered a misfiring part). And then didn't charge us a dime. He said it was a safety necessity for our kids on board. I will be coming back for all future work, he was clearly an expert and natural. I'm not sure if the negative reviews just met a completely different man? He does not care about juicing customers for money. He is fast paced and knowledgeable. Works well on the fly. Maybe you have to catch him on a Sunday? Maybe you have to have a good attitude? All I know is, he will be fair in pricing and know a lot about your car.
