First thing before I go any further, the one five star review on here from Kati C is actually the general manager of this facility and has written the review as if she were a member, this just cements how poorly run this place is.
This club Pilates started out as a godsend for me. The studio is close to my house, they were new and clean and everyone seemed very friendly when you walked in. I Have been going there 6/7 days a week for almost two months and I am seeing results from Pilates in general.
Their fees are pretty on par with most Pilates studios. You have to sign up for a three month membership minimum and as of today, their fees are as follows:
$89 month for 4 classes a month
$159 month for 8 classes a month
$199 month for unlimited classes each month.
That's where the good ends.
The owner is a very sweet young woman who unfortunately is allowing her best friend to run her business into the ground.
Do not sign up for semi private or private sessions at this studio. It took 11 days for anyone to even call me to schedule a session with 6 instructors on and now they have 2 instructors that can do private sessions in between their 70+ classes a week they teach.
When I started they had 6 instructors, so you had a variety of instructors to choose from. If you didn't mesh well with one style of teaching you could just sign up for another instructor, as of today, they have one instructor who is certified, one instructor who is certified and only teaches two hours a week (I have never been able to take this instructors classes but I hear she is fantastic) and one instructor Who is currently not half way through her 500 hour training is not certified and is teaching half of the classes in the studio because they have no one else. The General Manager and owner are both not Pilates instructors, are not certified to be instructors so they cannot cover some of the gaps.
Because of some instructors not being certified and other instructors being tired from being overworked they have had classes doing moves that are far above the skill level of the class people signed up for and people are getting hurt. When a customer brings this to the attention of the general manager she has been overheard, by myself, talking crap about the client after the client leaves to other employees.
They have a policy that states if you cancel the class less than 12 Hours out you are charged an additional $10 and if you don't show up to a class without canceling you are charged an additional $15. This would be fine if there were some provisions for things out of your control but there are not. They other issue is they have now cancelled two classes last minute because they did not have an instructor and were We offered any type of credit since they cancelled? The answer is no. I had a private session scheduled with a trainer I have been working with since I started and the owner and general manager cancelled my private session two minutes before it started so they could fire the trainer instead of letting me have my session and then firing her afterwards.
Found out the hard way of the devious and illegal business practices after a class one night when three customers, including myself were discussing with the trainer how we can modify to keep from hurting ourselves in other trainers classes as well as building rapport with us, the general manager, from her home came over the loud speaker and told us to "wrap it up ladies" and we needed to leave. When questioned, we found that they audio record everything in the studio including private conversations and failed to post a sign stating so which is breaking federal wire tapping laws. When I emailed the general manager about the audio recording and her lack of professionalism she emailed me back a blanket email without addressing my concerns of audio recording.
Be prepared to constantly have retail clothing and products chucked in your face. I'm assuming they make commission because I am constantly told how I need to buy their retail products at $40 for a tank top and $60 for a shirt. Not all employees do this, only the GM and one other employee who are both there all week. Weekends are tour reprieve from it.
Just know what you are getting yourself into, The lack of professionalism is unparalleled. It's really sad, as this area up north really lacks a great pilates studio and I truly believed this would be one. read more
