I don't have enough good things to say about this Pure Barre studio! I am from out of town, here on…read morebusiness, and needed to find my happy place away from home. After wandering in last night for my first class, this is definitely it. From the moment I walked in, the staff was extremely friendly and so warm. I felt like I'd known the girls in there forever. I haven't been to a Pure Barre class (or any barre class for that matter) in about a year, and the teacher yesterday evening walked me through everything I needed to know beforehand. She was supportive during class as well and tweaked my movements for me when they needed it. She stayed a few minutes after class to answer a few questions I had about the movements and was genuinely happy to help and wanted to make sure I felt comfortable. I definitely think it takes a few classes to really get the flow of the class and the different movements (which the teacher echoed when we chatted afterwards as well), but it's one of those classes where I can't wait to get back in the studio and give it another go and get better. Not to mention, my booty is on fire this morning! The studio itself is also adorable as well, and right next to a Whole Foods for dinner after an evening class :) If you've been on the fence about trying Pure Barre out- I'd definitely recommend this studio. You won't feel like an outsider at all and you will want to come back. I also received a phone call this morning from the girls at the studio following up about how my first class was and hoping that I enjoyed my first experience with them. I can tell you I've never received that from a single barre studio I've ever attended- so bravo ladies, keep up the great work!

I used an unlimited monthly pass that was a special buy. I am so bad about working out and often just cancel with relief I don't have to go. Grip socks are recommended and they sell them there. A perk of this location is it's right by BBW and Whole Foods!

SPENGA Hilliard: A Masterclass in How Not to Run a Business…read more Dealing with the manager at this location was like watching a bad comedy--except no one was laughing. Her ego could give the Manhattan skyline a run for its money. I left her two messages and stopped by three times with no response. On the fourth attempt, I finally caught her, and honestly, I wish I hadn't. The interaction had all the warmth of an ice storm and about as much grace as me trying to pirouette in steel-toed boots. Let's be clear: her only apparent qualification for managing a yoga/fitness studio is that she happens to own a yoga outfit. That's it. Customer service? Zero. Empathy? Nonexistent. I signed up, attended two classes, then got sick and couldn't go back. Months later, I realized my card was still being charged. I owned up to my mistake and asked if there was anything they could do. Any business with even a shred of customer service sense would've said, "We understand--let's work with you. Stick with us and we'll make it right." Instead, I got the robotic chant: "You signed a contract. You signed a contract." And just when I thought she had secured her place in the Customer Service Hall of Shame, she doubled down: "Oh, and you're responsible for next month's fee too, because we need 30 days' notice to cancel." Seriously? That's not just bad service--it's a business model built on fine print, gotchas, and arrogance. If you're looking for an uplifting, customer-oriented fitness community, look literally anywhere else. SPENGA Hilliard is proof that you can slap on trendy branding and yoga pants, but you can't fake integrity, decency, or professionalism. SPENGA should stand for: Service Poisoned Entirely by Narcissism, Greed, and Arrogance

I have been an SOSer for 5 years now. Which makes it shocking that I'm just now getting around to…read morewriting review, especially since I'm such a mega-fan! I first heard about SOS from a few folks when I worked at L Brands. They had a few loyal customers with whom I worked. To be honest, I was a little intimidated when I'd see these folks post about their workouts on social media. I had thought about trying it circa 2017, but was too intimidated (my loss!). But in 2019, I ended up with a stress fracture while marathon training. I was able to barely finish my training for the NYC Marathon, which I did successfully complete in November 2019. But at that point, it was evident that I couldn't just keep running marathons without incorporating strength training into my routine. So in Christmas Week 2019, I started with the 7 class starter pack just to try it out. My first class was The Course with Kelsey. I felt comfortable because I knew Kelsey from work and luckily a few other co-workers happened to be in the class as well. I still remember during the warm up, I was thinking "dang this is tough!" And Kelsey even said "Much different than running a marathon, right Chelsea?!" She couldn't have been more spot on! I ended up feeling like the class was super tough but I was paired up with a coworker who was so supportive and kind (thank you, Shideh, if you're reading this!). By the time my 7 class pass was up, I was hooked and became a monthly member. I even joined Team Tread (their half & full marathon training program) in January to start training for the Nashville Half in April 2020. Unfortunately for me, my SOS morning routines were abruptly halted in March 2020. But luckily, my team tread registration got me into the "digital studio" which I had no idea what it was at the time. I very quickly uncovered that it's all the same studio instructors and they have recorded classes with new uploads almost daily as well as a huge library of online classes (which as you can imagine has only grown in the past 5 years). I did what everyone else was doing and immediately ordered as many dumbbells, resistance bands, and other equipment to build up a "home SOS studio" and my equipment has been growing ever since. I moved to Arizona in summer 2021, and have continued to be a dedicated Digital Studio user and advocate. Whenever I come home to Ohio (whether Cbus or Cincy), I get giddy at the thought of going to classes in person and it's a treat to choose which classes I'll take and with which instructors. I got married in June 2024 and I purchased the "Badass Bride" classes on the Digital Studio. As I was taking them and leaving comments the owner, Gretchen, messaged me and said she wanted to send me an SOS wedding gift. You'd never believe how touched I was to see a SOS tank, hoodie, sweat towel and t-shirt show up the week of my wedding. I'm still so honored by these thoughtful gifts. Someone I've never even met in person (which is hard to believe given how obsessed I am with SOS lol!) went out of their way to make my wedding week all the more special. I can honestly say SOS Digital Studio has helped me get in the best shape of my life. I feel like I personally know all of the trainers (I don't have social media anymore, but when I did, I followed all of them, so again, felt like I kew them personally). When I was in Hawaii for my wedding, SO many people were asking me about my arms and complimenting me. I kept trying to tell them about the DS and how special SOS is. I will always be a dedicated and loyal fan. It's become such a part of my routine that I'm on Christas Break now with my husband in Kansas (where he's from) and I've brought my ankle weights, light weights and loop bands just so I can get some classes in. Thank you, Gretchen and team for helping me be the best version of myself every day! Can't imagine what I'd do without the DS and my SOS training crew! (Only word of advice to newbies- the System DOES work! Don't skip out on any classes. As you can imagine, being a marathon runner, I favored all of the cardio classes. But it wasn't until I really started incorporating High & Tight as I prepared for my wedding that I noticed the chiseled arms that I'd always wanted. It's a well-rounded program that works wonders as long as you incorporate ALL of the classes).

It was my first time there but I got no introduction to the studio or space and didn't feel very welcomed. The class itself was ok - it's under infrared so I got a decent sweat but I'm not sure the workout itself was as hard as my sweat would lead you to believe (no second day soreness). The instructor said it was a old class layout they tried to revamp so I'd be willing to give it another shot but the overall format/moves felt like they were trying to do too much and less cohesive. Four stars mostly based on reputation alone as I've heard great things from others and think it may have been a one off experience.

Detailed pros and cons (price was the big one) for me laid out below. It was about a year ago that I left FE but i forgot to share this at the time; note that things may have changed since I left. PRO Unlike places like Club Pilates, the waitlist works pretty well but it wasn't difficult to regularly attend the same classes without even using waitlists. There were a few classes that worked really well with a 9-5 schedule. CON The cost was significant for me for a place you can't go to outside of scheduled classes. I totally get this is cheaper than one on one training and the quality is extremely high, but when friends and family asked me how much my training classes were, every single answer I gave was met with shock. While FE staff is very friendly and easy to talk to about membership, the absolute cheapest I could make work was the longest commitment. If you come from a two-income household this would be more reasonable, but as a one-income single person, it was not sustainable for me. There were weird moments for me personally, because there were specific "bring/tell your friends" promotional weeks, but all my friends are low-paid teachers and could never afford this. When I started to have some medical expenses and more recently a new car payment, there was no way I could keep paying for this (FYI they were very kind and willing to let me out of membership early). PRO This is a very high quality training experience with kind, personable trainers who are educated, tactful, and observant about who is in their class. For every class, the trainer prepares specific weights and routines that are personalized for every single person signed up. The equipment/space provided and sanitizing expectations are great, down to the number of weights, the individual stations, and the timers. CON There were more (simple things!) instructors could have done to create community. While people were never rude to me, many times when I went to a class with an instructor for the first time (new class time/new instructor for me) -- and this includes my very first class ever -- the instructors didn't facilitate/encourage introductions to the regulars, despite knowing I was new to that class. The class then felt very cliquey, because everyone else knew each other and had inside jokes. I'm an introvert and definitely struggled with that dynamic. CON Though I arrived appropriately early, many times I found I still would be the last one to class -- to the point where everyone else had almost finished warmups. That's supposed to be the point of including the warmup in the class time! I would then be behind the others the entire workout. It's not a competition, but it was difficult to not feel that way sometimes. CON I felt that the onboarding didn't fully click with me for the progression of the sequences in a class, or maybe that was my first class's instructor's fault. I did not understand at all the A then B then interval sequence back and forth, and was extremely confused as to what to do after each one for my first two-ish weeks. This rectified itself over time but I didn't even fully understand what I didn't understand. PRO There are supplemental (mostly paid) opportunities to take advantage of, from special classes to nutrition help to various video content pieces. PRO This is a small business, and the owner is very personable and easy to talk to about membership questions or concerns throughout your time there. Even though i didn't feel intentionally welcomed by the other classgoers, the instructors themselves were all very friendly and genuine.
