He did just that and while he ended up coming a bit later than estimated, he kept me in the loop and arrived when he said he would. Edward was polite and straightforward about the price and was done in less than an hour. I was impressed and had them (Edward again) come back three days later for some non-urgent work. He identified some issues, but never told me what the required repairs would be. Then he told me that the repairs would cost us 75% of the cost of a new unit. He said that the AC unit needed to be replaced and possibly the air handler and even the water heater. This last recommendation made me skeptical. I asked for a quote on the repairs and separately on the cost of replacement. He said that replacement would require another 90 minute appointment; which I was not ready to commit too. I was expecting a quote and detailed listing of the repairs. We never received this quote. Based on the technician's description of the issues, my husband and I were able consider some potential repairs on our own. We made the repairs on our own (coil cleaning, capacitor replacement) and everything seems to be functioning well so far. My concern was that AllTech immediately jumps to a recommendation of replacement if a unit is older than 10 years. We never received a quote on the cost of repair. The repairs my husband and I made required roughly $30 worth of parts. I wish that AllTech would have provided the quote for repairs and not immediately jumped to the cost of an entirely new AC system. Also suggesting to replace the air handler and water heater was excessive.

We first used them for an issue with our AC because they are 5 minutes from our house. The tech was pretty straight-forward about diagnosing and repairing the broken motor. The only weird thing was the dude went around our house when we weren't looking putting their A Action stickers on several of our appliances, as if they were the ones that installed all of them. I had to go peel all of the ugly stickers off of things like our washing and drying machines and plumbing fixtures. The first experience was fine, so when the AC was on the fritz a year later we called them again for a repair. The tech comes out and says the motor capacitor is broken. He quotes us $500 to replace it with a "high-performance" capacitor. Then when the work is done, bills us for $900. "Well, the $500 was just for the parts. The final bill includes diagnosis and labor." For a 45-minute visit. I checked online after and we could have had the same generic part delivered to our house 3 days later from a local supplier for $55. I get that there is a premium for having the part on the truck to fix it right then and there, but a 1,000% markup for a stock part that I can replace myself is over the top. We called them again for an estimate on a new plumbing installation. We get told estimates are free. The tech shows up and looks over the work that needs done. Then he says we owe him $100 before he leaves. "I thought the estimate was free?" "It's for the diagnosis, not the estimate." Then they never even got back to us with a quote for the project. We'll look elsewhere from now on. We've worked with other licensed techs in this area for less money that are just as professional and responsive and don't change prices on you after the fact.

Had a leak in basement bathroom ceiling. I cut out the drywall ceiling, identified the joint where…read morethe pipe was leaking, determined a third floor toilet was the source of the water, set up a bucket, and then called swiftpro. Tyson came out and quickly determined the leak was not coming from the joint but rather from somewhere above. So now there was a mystery leak hidden behind the walls somewhere between the third floor and the basement. He suspected the pipe to be behind and certain section of wall on the middle floor and thought maybe a nail could be the culprit and checked to see if we had anything nailed to the wall, we didn't. So he had to pick a section of wall to cut behind to check and on his first try found the pipe and showed me exactly where the previous owner put a nail through the toilet drain pipe. I was originally concerned we'd have to open many walls and ceilings to find it and I'm still wondering how he found it so quickly. He also answered a ton of my questions.

We proceeded to replace the existing unit because it was near its end of life and replacing the compressor would not be cost effective in the long term. It was $150. I bought it and installed it myself in literally less than 5 minutes. I feel like I almost got ripped off. And now I'm wondering what else have they overcharged me for. Seriously. $150 labor for 5 minutes of work? Don't they have a conscience?
