I've been providing IT services for Kane and Kerper's office for over 13 years now. The staff is…read morenice, the Doctors are nice and they always pay their bills. They recently upgraded their Pano to a 3D CT and when I asked the doctor about anticipated storage requirements for the 3D he told me the expected number of 3D scans was going to be much lower than I expected. and I said "You're not going to scan everyone?" he said "Hell, no!" "CT scans product more radiation than simple x-rays and we don't want to expose our patients to any more radiation than absolutely necessary." I didn't consider that, but it opened up my eyes to the thoughtfulness that the Doctors pay attention to when treating their patients. These aren't the things people talk about or look for in reviews so I thought people should know.

For context: I have avoided the dentist for years (regrettably and stupidly) and decided to finally come in to get an exam, to which they made me aware of the many cavities I had. The estimated services as well as my first examination, were definitely pricy, even with insurance. After the initial consultation, it made sense to me to hold off to try and save up for all the work I needed done. Once I eventually came in, Dr. Kane proceeded to interrogate me on why I did not schedule an appointment sooner, basically telling me I need to get my finances in order to get the work I needed done (which all makes total sense!). I explained that I am only working part-time at the moment since I am also going to school, so saving up takes a little longer than it would if I was only working--Dr. Kane was not satisfied with this response and continued to pry + lecture me. Although his intent seemed good, the delivery felt invasive. I did not appreciate him prying into my financial status, then proceeding to lecture me on finances/getting dental work done and then telling me I need to get my parents involved to help me pay; he even had the front desk give me a HIPAA form for my parents to sign and offered to call them personally. I understand the intention with wanting to help but Dr. Kane made me feel ashamed for taking a few months to get the funds needed for very expensive dental work. I am uncomfortable with making my parents fork over money for my self-inflicted issues, yet Dr. Kane was very insistent on getting them involved. I liked the practice up until this point. I don't deserve nor appreciate being shamed for not having an extra couple thousand dollars on hand! Additionally (and unrelated the previous experience), the front office has the tendency to call upwards of 5 times, with voicemails and texts to follow in one day just to confirm an appointment. I think a single call, with a single voicemail would suffice.

I have been a loyal patient of Avra Dental since it opened and have referred many family members…read moreover the years, but my experience has drastically changed since the departure of Dr. Jabaiti. The lack of communication regarding his exit was alarming; not only were we unaware of his departure, but the office also transitioned his patients to Dr. Malinoff without any prior notice. Reluctantly, my family and I chose to stay, hoping the quality of care would remain at the high standard set by Dr. Jabaiti. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The front office staff has become increasingly rude and unprofessional. They lack transparency and have consistently failed to inform patients about significant changes. On multiple occasions, I have found myself on the phone only to have staff members hang up on me without explanation. Moreover, since Dr. Malinoff took over, I have faced numerous issues with insurance billing. Under Dr. Jabaiti's care, I never experienced any insurance denials, but now, treatments are being denied left and right. After contacting my insurance, I learned that Avra Dental was not submitting the necessary documentation for approval. Despite my persistence, the front office insisted that everything was submitted correctly. It took months of back-and-forth before they finally sent the right information, resulting in an eventual approval. The rudeness of the staff has made each interaction a struggle. We tolerated this behavior because Dr. Jabaiti was an exceptional dentist, but now it feels like the office is in complete disarray. To make matters worse, I was recently informed that they are no longer in contract with my insurance, and with appointments looming for myself and family members, this left us scrambling to find a new dentist. There was no prior notice about this change, forcing us to rush and find alternatives. When I called my insurance to clarify, they explained that Avra Dental chose to stop accepting my insurance, despite the fact that they were still in-network. After persistent emails, I finally received my dental records to facilitate the transition to a new provider. However, for a family member's treatment, they had to go through multiple temporaries, and the assistants did not do a proper job. One temporary fell off in just one day! In summary, Avra Dental has become a source of stress rather than care. Save yourself the hassle and seek a dental office that values communication and patient care.

Each time I told him that yes I had seen the endodontist who said I did not need a root canal. The third time. I told him I let him know it was the third time he asked me . He shot back with "I can't remember everything about all my patients". Not exactly what a patient really wants to hear. Maybe he should look at patients charts before he sees them. Then he criticized my crowns and said he couldn't believe that they all weren't the same exact color. I tried to explain they were done over the years and then he sent one of his assistance to go get pictures of her boyfriend's crowns he did. . In my opinion, they were so white they were offputting and looked fake. I'm a senior so that really wouldn't work at my age. It would really look fake for me. my first year with this Dentist he did a deep cleaning but It did not feel like a deep cleaning and not because he gave me numbing shots and I did not see any change in my gums.,and then a couple of periodontal cleanings I think his hygienist did one of those. I have since found a new Dentist, and his periodontal cleanings are far superior to this dentists. I could see a change in my gums the next day, following the treatment and by the time I had my second one with the new Dentist. my gums weren't red or inflamed anywhere in my mouth. The Auburn Hair office manager, I believe her name is Betsy was so nice on my first appt.. The first time I was there she came back to mybdentist chair to explain what all would be covered by my dental insurance. But at another visit when I needed a referral for a procedure she grabbed a form and staple something to it, and literally slammed it down on the countertop and said emphatically with emphasis on the word"I" would have to take care of it. That turned out to not be true. She was wrong, but what I couldn't understand was the extreme rudeness, the manner in which she spoke to me, and to literally slam something down on the countertop was shocking. She may still be there, but there's something off balance wrong with this woman . This Dentist , after my first year there, stopped taking my insurance. It was a blessing in disguise because I now have a much better Dentist that I'm very happy with him and his staff and he Is closer to where I live.

As someone with significant dental anxiety and past dental trauma, I am always incredibly nervous walking through the door. From the very first phone call this morning, I was treated with genuine kindness and compassion. They were calm, patient, comforting, and took the time to make sure I felt safe throughout the entire procedure. They never made me feel rushed or judged, and their kindness helped ease a fear I've carried for years. What could have been a terrifying experience ended up being one of the most positive dental visits I've ever had. I'm so grateful for this experience and this office. I never had that problem to any significant degree prior. We're talking... big time. For months, actually. I've had others suggest that perhaps their instruments were not being properly sanitized. I can't say that's true or untrue. What I do know is: when I went in again to get my front teeth fixed, they were confused apparently, and tried to make a mold of my upper, left side molars instead. I let them know, well, fine, just a mix-up. Okay. So they did the mold on my upper front teeth, left it too long, and when they pulled it out, it really hurt and ended up breaking more of my front right incisor. That really upset me. That they have, typically (at least the 3 times I was there) an advertisement in their waiting room for a "chance to win a vacation if you give us a positive review" speaks volumes of their actual competence. That means a lot of the positive reviews here on Yelp. People just hoping to win something. It's pretty shameful. I would recommend finding an actual dentist who knows what they're doing and doesn't try to bribe you into giving them a good review here. I'd give them 0 stars if I could.
