We went on Wednesday when they open, around 7pm, no wait. My husband and I ordered burgers, of course. He got Cloud 59 with italian crafted beer. Not good. I ordered burger, fries, and wings. However, the fries were completely forgotten. The order took forever to come out. The bun was bigger than the actual patty. At the risk of sounding a bit crazy, after several days in Italy, my wife and I needed something other than typical Italian fare. What happened next when encountering Cloud 59 was completly unexpected and a very plesant surprise. Not only did we find fantatistic food in the form of chicken, burgers and fries which I had little hope for, the burger and fries I had ranked amongst the very best I have ever had, anywhere. The charming and quaint atmosphere was perfect, with great service, and a passionate owner who is just an great guy all around. We were very fortunate to get to meet Alex, and learn about his business and journey due to it being late and in the "off" season. We spent an entire day out on a tour in Cinque Terra. It was beautiful!! We've been eating nothing but pasta the entire week that we were all craving a burger. I can't rave enough about the Mario burger... it was sooo good. They're huge.. I was so full from eating half the burger that I forced myself to finish the rest. There was no way I was going to toss it. We ordered organic lemonades and they took a while to bring them (which I didn't think anything of) Turns out Alessandro went to the store to buy lemons! Coming to Italy as an American - 4 days in I decided I needed a burger. Looked this place up and people said it reminded them of home so I went, and man they did not disappoint. Just about as American of a meal you can get here - minus the bacon, which is not the same as the thick but stuff we got at home. My family of 4 were enjoying Florence and the amazing Italian food but needed a break from our 2 week tour of Italy. We stumbled on Cloud 59 by accident and decided to give it a try. We each had 4 different burgers and they were all beyond amazing. Truly the best burger I've ever had and I try many-a-burgers in my hometown and my travels. The Tuscan beef was so much more tender and juicy than the beef we have in the states. The fries were even quite good. The owner/cook is exceptionally friendly with perfect English (to include a slight Boston accent) as he lived in the states per our conversation. Can't recommend this restaurant highly enough. I couldn't believe it. The cloud59 burger is easily one of the best burgers I've had in my life, it's up there with BRGR, Minetta Tavern Black Label Burger, and Bar Sardine in New York City, Hollywood Burger and Burger Lounge in Los Angeles; I truly would put it up there with any other burger place and I am a burger connoisseur. It blew my mind that it was in Florence Italy. I'm not sure I've ever had a truly great Hamburger overseas. I consider it something that United States does it better than anywhere else. Of course I expected the pasta, and pizza in Italy to be somewhat superior if not absolutely better... But what I found that was truly special was this burger at Cloud59. Perhaps it was in part because I was expecting so little, but I have to say I'm positive it rates among the best burgers I've ever had. If you are in Florence, and you love burgers such as I do. This place is worth the stop, worth going out of your way for, and worth spending your meal on. Three stars for a not so great experience. We ordered take out, which we thought was going to be quick. Mistake: it took over 90 minutes to get our food. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and think it was just a bad night, but they only had one employee running the register, bar and over 10 tables. She was walking back and forth all over the place, desperately trying to keep everybody happy, which was a hard task to accomplish. She looked extremely tired and over-worked. Nonetheless, she was kind and courteous and above all apologetic for how hectic everything was. The restaurant is hip and modern and the prices reasonable. Even when we waited for ever, they tried to compensate for the hiccup, gave me a glass of wine and some soft drinks. The food was good, and I suspect that fresh and hot it would've been even better. I doubt that I will eat again here, but I encourage you to give them a try. read more

I can not recommend this place enough. Everything was great. After a month of being here everyone in my group wanted a burger. Don't even try to go anywhere else like we did. This goes under my top five burgers ever. My friend had the vegetarian burger wicked good style and it was a solid 10/10 coming from a meat lover. I got the classic and added bacon and it was perfect. The mustard pickles and everything were obviously high quality and they sure know the perfect way to cook the meat. The other two I had from other places were overbooked and this was just juicy heaven. Everyone was in pure heaven and loved their burgers. The fries were just okay. My niece and I went two times because we were attended by a very nice lady. Burgers are ok and ok wine. But the second time the guy that was at the cashier was amazingly rude. After we payed the bill , for no reason he started yelling at mi niece because she went to look for the nice girl to give her the tip .
