The manager in this store is horrible! Her customer service is the worst. 10 out of 10 I would not recommend this location. I just had a pair of Ugg boots that had one small spot that a person ... normal person would not even pay attention to, and she did not accept them! When I told her about the pair in the window that didn't even stand up... she had no response. The pair inthe window were worn down too to bottom! I brought in a large box of clothes to sell and they only bought 3 items. A pair of 6 yr old shoes from Target, a purse that wasn't designor and a top. I had Banana Republic, Loft, Chico, Gap, Vineyard Vines, etc. Nothing was stained or pilled as I would never try and sell items not in great shape. I think it's funny that the one pair of shoes they bought were six years old and from Target even though they were barely worn. Was told they passed because of stains, loose threads and some junior sizes. Meanwhile, I saw a few stained items hanging on their racks. Cashiers were friendly though so that's a plus I guess. Just won't waste my time trying to sell them anything again. read more

My overall experience was very friendly and upbeat with a warm greeting when I walked in, came in for some sportswear and walked out with some travel wear. Beware there was no hesitation coming at all from Hannah, who stepped right up to the plate and offered me plenty of suggestions with a warm hello. Vanessa recognized my need for assistance as well. I do not recommend clothes mentor. My true star rating is 0. When you call clothes mentor, their staff say things like - oh yes, we do take seniors' clothing - lies, lies, lies...they also don't tell you that they do not take clothing w/ shoulder pads etc.,etc.,etc...they did not check all of my items...the staff pretend to be so very helpful, but they are not...you all are absolutely, truly misleading people and because of that, cm is absolutely a joke... read more

These folks have been great when purchasing my items. I got very fair prices for all of my clothing and jewelry items, and they took all of the things I brought without hesitation. Brittany the store manager has been very helpful and asked me to bring in more items to sell. I appreciate her looking at my items quickly and giving me very reasonable payment for everything. I have sold clothes at three other Clothes Mentor locations and have never run into this rule before so I thought I would let others know: they will not accept your items to sell unless they are in a tote. If you bring your items in in a bag, they have totes there that you can rent for the duration of them looking through your items for $1.99 each. I went into the store ready to shop, but I have to admit, this took the wind out of my sails and the fun out of my trip. I live forty minutes from the store so couldn't just run home and get a tote and was not about to go purchase one to sell used clothes in. read more

I went to consign some clothes today (Saturday 5/16/20 at 12:30) and I have visited this location multiple times before and had no big issues. I made sure to check the website to see if they were open and accepting clothes before I drove up to Buford, as I do not live nearby. Once getting there and carrying my 3 large bags of clothes in, the girl working there asked me if I had an appointment. I wash shocked their website didn't mention an appointment was needed. Luckily I was able to schedule one 30 minutes later at 1:00. As I am leaving, she tells me I can't have my items in bags and need to use a hard sided bin/tub. Once again, I was shocked this information was not on the website. I ran to Target to wait out the 30 minutes, bought a plastic bin I planned to reuse on other things later, and returned to consign my clothes for my appointment. I handed over the clothes and they tell me they'll text me when my clothes are ready to be picked up. An hour and a half later (around 2:30), I go back to the store and tell the girl I am waiting to pick up my items. The nice worker asked the manager in front of me if she could go ahead and key my items in since I am there and the ticket she was working on was not there at that time. The manager says "First come, first serve, so no." She could care less that I was there waiting. I walk around the shop for a bit, with no sign of my items being ready so I leave and decide to come back again. Since I first dropped off the items, I went back 2 hours and 40 minutes later (around 3:40), still with no text saying anything was ready. I stand and wait to be addressed as I am looked at and ignored multiple times for at least 5 minutes while the cashiers (the manager being one of them) stood and rang up other people. Even after they finished checking everyone out, nobody greeted or approached me. I had to initiate communication after they saw me waiting. I asked the girl if my items were ready and told her I'd been waiting 3 hours. She said "It's up to 24 hours of processing time but I can ask my manager if you can have your items back." At this point I am starting to feel my blood pressure rise. Why in the visits prior did NO ONE tell me it was a 24 hour processing time?? I explain the situation to the manager and get my items back. I did not get the manager's name but she was a younger blonde haired lady. She gives me two $5 coupons and apologizes and asks me to please come back another time. I do not ever plan on returning here. The staff is not trained well and the lack of communication here about store policies is a problem. I wasted 3 hours here for nothing and the coupons and apologies from the manager were too little too late. I do not recommend this place at all as a consignment shop. They really could care less about your efforts and time. read more

I confirmed online that the call store was open on Sunday. I ride on Sunday only to be told they were short staffed and don't take items on Sunday. That was two weeks ago. I arrive today to drop off my items and the young lady asked me if I had them in durable trash bags. I said yes. I brought the first one in and they were staring at me as I was bringing it in. I knew there was an issue. They wanted me to provide bins or larger non-plastic bags for the items. If this is the requirement , then this needs to be on the website and made very clear to the customer BEFORE they arrive. I felt like they just don't want to take a lot of clothes because perhaps they are at max inventory or maybe only from certain people. Who knows... I've come to this place before and the attitude of the workers is disgusting. But I thought I would give them another try. I won't be back. This week I got a flyer from Clothes Mentor telling me to clean out my closet for "cash on the spot" - the flyer, listed sandals, short sleeve, tops, summer dresses, jeans, etc. I was hesitant to go since it's very near the mall of Georgia and the area is always super busy, but I took a chance and took 9 items over as a test run - among the times was a semi-formal dress (tags attached), two work dresses and a sundress, and a new pair of nice Chico's jeans with tags attached. The items were all of well-known, high-quality brands and all were in new or as new condition. Even though they say on their mailer, that appointment is never necessary, when you get there, they have you leave the clothes and then require you to come back to get their decision. So after going to the trouble of going there twice, the teenage girl at the counter told me they were "passing" on everything. I heard another very young woman working th here was telling another woman the same. I was told that they already had enough dresses and pants; they also had enough jeans and formal wear. The whole thing with a giant waste of time. I don't know why they want to waste peoples time is by selling out these mailers, but I suggest you that you don't bother with Clothes Mentor. There are so many other resellers nearby and online that won't waste your time. read more

I recently found this store on Instagram and was so excited to go in and check it out. I really wanted to love it from the items they post on Instagram. When I arrived they weren't entirely busy but no one seemed to care I was in the store. The buying process went fairly quickly and the store was organized. When I found a few of the items from Instagram I noticed they were extremely worn. The photos had great color but were obviously using filters. They bought a few designer shorts and shoes from me and I only made $11. I have made much more from Plato's in the past. Overall I want it to be a great store so I will probably try again. But their buying needs some help. They had some cheap clothes from Amazon, Fashion Ten, and Kohl's on the racks and were extremely over priced. read more

I needed to sell some clothes, so I called ahead because I saw an appointment was required on their website. They said no appointment needed but to make sure to put items in a container. I had them in trash bags (neatly on hangers, so like a garment bag) already, so I had to stop and buy boxes to put them in. I dropped them off and was told to come back in a few hours. I got the text that my stuff was ready, drove back to get it, and was told they didn't even look at my stuff because they were in trash bags, even though it was in the boxes. I only kept the bags on because they were freshly cleaned and wanted them to stay that way. She said I could "try again" tomorrow because they stopped buying at 3 PM and by that time it was 4. I am aggravated that I already had to go out of my way not only to buy the boxes, but also wasted gas and time because it was a 47 minute drive each way. Such a disappointment. read more

I have been coming to this store since moving to Georgia, and have sold and purchased clothes at this location. Over the years, I have sold things with the tags on them, several shoes that have never been worn, handbags, and very pricey great quality JCrew jewelry that I paid a good amount of money for. I get the concept of making some extra cash from your new or gently used clothing, jewelry, shoes, and handbags. I think a lot of people are leaving out of here feeling disgusted and ripped off like myself. While you can definitely find some great things here, I just feel that there needs to be changes made to the option of selling, and how much the customer gets or something, because people are seriously being cheated. I think when you bring in a very small buy, you can really see that you are basically getting pennies for your things when you know how much you initially paid for them. I will definitely look into other options for selling my things as I just don't have the money to throw away when it comes to selling to stores like this. I also wish instead of the customer having to ask how much they're getting for each individual item, the cashier should also print out a receipt with how much the customer is getting for each item, for the customer to keep; and not just have the customer sign it, and quickly take it back. Just like with any transaction you make, a person should be given a receipt when they are doing business with you whether selling or buying. That way it does not look and feel so deceitful. read more

I took around twenty pairs of very gently worn brand name and designer shoes to this store all of which were in the shoe boxes that I bought them in. They told us they could only process three boxes at a time, but I could go get a large box and put them in it and they would look at them. I thought was a very strange rule but I went to a nearby post office, got a large box, and took the shoes back in. After waiting 45 mins I told them I had to go pick up my daughter and would have to come back. I called about an hour later to see if they were finished and they wouldn't give me any information at all about my shoes, just said I needed to come back to the store. When i came back I was told they could not accept any of my shoes "because they had been worn." I thought this was a consignment store?!? One pair of designer shoes had never even been worn because I bought them for my daughter and they were too small. Another pair of $200 Ecco boots had only been worn indoors a couple of times and looked brand new. These were very nice shoes that Plato's Closet said were "too high end" for their stores. I hadn't been to this store for several years because the last time I was there they offered me $60 for a pair of like-new designer shoes that retailed for $1K+. Ummmm... no thank you, I passed on that offer and ended up selling them online for $350. I recently decided to give them another chance and took in a few boxes of very gently worn/like new high quality clothing (Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Sak's, Bloomingdales brands). The young woman who greeted me told me it would take about 30 minutes for them to go through my items. I decided to wait and have a look around as they sorted through my stuff. While browsing I noticed that most of the items were from mall stores like H&M, Old Navy, Zara, Loft, Ann Taylor, and department store brands from Kohl's, JCP, Macy's, etc. Nothing at all wrong with those stores/brands, but they were priced fairly high. I can get cheaper prices at those places when they're having a sale and get items brand new! The other thing I noticed was that many of the items on the racks looked very dated and had extreme wear, pilling, fading, stains, or other issues. As I flipped through the racks I felt very confident that my clothing would be accepted since everything was in excellent condition and from high-end department stores. Imagine my surprise when the young woman told me they were passing on all but a few items. She told me, in a very polite way, that my items didn't suit their clientele. Translation: my middle aged woman styles were too mature for their young customers, lol! I mistakenly thought Clothes Mentor was for women of all ages, unlike Plato's Closet which is definitely for high schoolers and college students. I totally understand and wasn't at all offended, but I won't be back to shop or sell. read more

I took my things into the store waited for almost 3 hours and after that long wait, they took nothing. My clothing is very nice and expensive. The girls who are checking in the things are very slow and also clueless about what is trendy clothing. During my wait, I did look around the store and its priced too high and stains were on the clothing. After that horrible experience, I decided to stop by another shop on my way home and I'm very glad I did! They took most of my clothing and could not believe that the other shop didn't take anything. Honestly, don't waste a minute at this place. Take your things to a shop who knows what they are doing and has great customer service!. I shop there everyone once in awhile and they usually have some very good sales. I actually got asked to fill out an application and I went in for an interview. I would have rather gotten a rejection letter or email than nothing. I found that kind of interesting that I didn't hear anything back. The gals who work there are usually pretty nice. They will ask if they can assist you or get you a basket if your hands are full. Some of them sometimes just banter behind the counter and you wonder if you are bothering them shopping. I used to have such good experiences here. Last year I went into the store one night and the employees were AMAZING. I even wrote down their names I was so impressed: Rachel, Sharmane, and Abby. I'm not sure if any of them are still employed there, but I haven't seen any of them since. I've been in a few times since then and I've been treated so horribly. The girls are rude and dismissive. They rarely accept any of your clothes when you try to sell it and are very impatient. They act like it is such a hard task to explain why they aren't taking your clothes. I really don't know what has changed in the past year, but it just has not been the same. I will not be returning until the staff knows how to communicate and maybe they have a more diversified staff. Very disappointing. read more

Terrible customer Service. I told the young lady I had never been there before and all I wanted to know was, what they were willing to offer me before I filled anything out. No need to go through all that, if I am not interested in what your willing to buy my 3 items for, I said. Her reply was that, before they could do anything, they had to make sure the items weren't stolen, so as to protect themselves, as well as the customers. I was shocked that she would say that, implying that someone is guilty until proven otherwise, but I had nothing to hide. Even so, I reluctantly, put down the 3 clothing items down where she told me to. (At that time, there were no other items on the floor.) After providing I.D. and signing this that and the other, the girl proceeds to look over at all the other items now on the floor next to mine, (all placed there after mine), and tells me that it would be, at least, 45 minutes. Wait, what? ! I told her, no thank you, and that if she had told me that in the beginning, it would have saved everyone their time. I hate that I was treated like a common criminal and made to provide all that info for nothing. Just donate to GoodWill on Financial Drive, Buford, Ga. and save yourself some time and being insulted by the clothing police. read more

This week I had my first encounter with Clothes Menor in Buford, GA. I wish someone writing a thesis in psychology could have been a fly on the wall. I am very intuitive, and precieve this very young manager, and the young staff in general, to be age biased. I at first visited Plato's Closet in Duluth. I was told that they were seeking teen styles and I was directed to Clothes Mentor for items like I have. I am 70 years old, but look 50 because I'm pretty fit. I have snow white hair. I dress in pretty high end clothing. I had about 35 items, all freshly ironed and on hangers. I had some shoes and purses. Only two items were a 1x, the rest were in a medium or large range. I had a $95 purse with a shoulder strap, never used real leather, by Clarks. She found one tiny scratched area on the underside of the bag, and she declined it. She said they aren't taking shoulder bags. I about laughed my guts out, because that was all that was hanging all over the place, and my stylish bag looked better than any of them. Women my age, often do not wear sleeveless, teeny-bopper tops. I love to wear quarter length sleeve shirts (had a few long sleeve items, that were actually summer items, such as light weight linen.) In reference to the whole batch, I was told "we don't take long sleeves." At one point she removed a pair of immaculately ironed cropped pants from the hanger. When she discounted those, she plopped them in a waded up fashion back across the pants hanger like yesterday's trash. The manager's skills of diplomacy need work. A diplomat is a person that knows how to basically tell someone to "go to hell" (figuratively speaking), so that they enjoy the trip. These girls are just so young. I guess they can't help but be clueless. But, wow, they are a monumental waste of my valuable time. read more

Dont do any business with them: buying or selling!! Id rather donate or give away to someone in need. I decided to finally try and let go of some clothes to make money and because I won't be able to have three fully stocked walk in closets when I move. I decided to try and get rid of some stuff that I still wanted to keep with the dream of being able to wear that size again. I ended up bringing in 6 huge bags full of clothes that I nicely folded and seperated. 85% of the clothes still had tags on it and 95% had never even been worn. Hadn't been to Clothes Mentor before but wanted to try somewhere besides Platos Closet to get more $ if I were to part with these items. I brought in these brands: Armani, Bebe, express, free people, loft, urban outfitters, and a little bit of abercrombie, forever21, Charlotte russe, wetseal. When I arrived the girl informed me that they didn't take any of those brands specifically except the loft. I honestly didn't want to leave my clothes for these young girls who had poor customer service to go through. They all had no fashion sense, didn't represent the stores style, and seemed like a group of kids who were friends and only had jobs there because one of their moms owned it. They sloppily through all my stuff around throwing my never worn bebe chiffon blouses stuffed up against sequenced items and stuffed my hanging bag of House of Black and White cocktail dresses in with the jeans etc. At the end it was exactly what my bf and I thought these girls were doing.. they picked out items for themselves. They picked out a $140 hippie looking free people embroidered top, Forever 21 cut off Jean shorts that were super hoochie short so I never wore them and still had a $27.50 tag on them, and my $225 black pea coat that I never wore but once because my private school only let us wear that as a winter coat. All three items out of about 70 were all three specific brands that they told me they would not buy ahead of time. And what did they offer me??.. $8.00!!! Oh and they said they wouldn't take any items over 2 years old.. all three were from when I was in highschool.. I'm 24 now. I had tons of clothes from the loft brought in a sweater and shirt in 6 different colors each all with tags on it from last year. The employees are clearly only shopping for themselves. Were tearing up my stuff, lowballing me, basically trying to steal from me for their closet, and were all trying on clothes and not paying attention or helping customers! My boyfriend didn't even want to leave my stuff with them knowing the items value, condition, and after seeing the girls behavior. If the owner cared about their business and making it successful then they would hire employees that follow the guidelines, have knowledge of fashion, represented the stores fashion style, and had some bit of passion or common sense when it comes to customer service. To care enough about their job to strive and represent themselves as if the stores success depended on their quality assurance and success. Only business I've ever walked into and immediately felt this way about. Went by Platos after and they even tried to offer way more and wanted more. A few customers and employees at Platos had nothing but negative things to say about Clothes Mentor mall of ga location as well. It's not just about the money and selection offered. It was night and day difference between the staffs attitudes, professionalism, and how they represented the business. With clothes mentor.. my boyfriend and I both never felt so uncomfortable and out of place in any business we've ever stepped foot in. I felt bad so I let them go through what I had brought. Side note: my boyfriend even commented on the condition and quality of the items they had to sell. Junky, outdated, stains on clothes, rips, tacky purses, pit stained shirts. I took a basket of very fashionable quality clothing items and shoes to this store (Sperry's, Nine West, Ann Taylor, Gap, Old Navy, etc.) After reviewing them I was told there was NOTHING they would purchase. However, there are items for sale in their store that are stained, too worn to purchase and outdated. Never wasting my time here again. Their buyers need an education on style :) read more

Do not waste your time trying to sell your clothes here - this is the third time I've taken in piles of women's clothes in perfect condition - all from Macy's, Kohls (only Dana Buchman), Jjill, Chicos, and other name brands. I am very generous with items that i donate to charity so I only select barely worn, clean, perfect condition, stylish, recent clothing to consign. But, clothes mentor rejects 90% of it for the third time in the past two years. A big part of the problem is the little Chicas who select the clothing - they are all size 0 and about age 18. Wander around while you wait for them to sort your clothes - the racks are FILLED with cheap items from Target, Old Navy and other low end retailers. And, so much if it is mishapen, worn, snagged and smelly. Total ridiculous waste of time - for selling AND for buying. read more

Whoever is doing the hiring may want to consider employing people who actually have a sense for fashion. The young ladies who currently work there now spend more time sifting through items that they want for themselves. They are constantly in the dressing rooms, which maximize the waiting time for actual customers. I've also noticed that during the last few times that I've sold some items there, they appear to be a little biased when it comes to a certain group of people offering them next to nothing in $$$. read more
