Overall I do love my closet system. The consultant who designed it was AMAZING. As for the installation, they left dents in my wall where I need to patch with drywall then paint and left a pile of saw dust in my yard that I had to clean up so I wouldn't get a letter from my HOA. I did call and they told me to email pictures. I emailed pictures and have yet to hear back. With the amount of money I paid just clean up after someone and fix damages in my house is unreal. No partial refund was offered for the trouble, not even a sorry. This won't do anything either but had to share. read more

my design specialist Dawn was fabulous and patient in taking the time to understand my goals and needs to provide the products that would meet both the functional yet value in closet organization that I wanted to achieve. the install had a few bumps but the end products are beautiful and brings me joy. Closets by Design is is not worth your business and money. No customer service after the sale. We had a problem with the design and install. I called seven days straight with no call back. Kara my sales person and Eric were no longer with the company, Bridget or James never called back, They sent a man to fix their mistakes without making an appointment. My experience with Closet by Design has been very frustrating. Since February, they have made 5 appointments with me to install redesigned doors and make some repairs. Each time, on the day of the appointment, during the time window, they have called to say that something was wrong with the materials or measurements or delivery. Obviously, they do not check actual orders until they are loading it on the truck even though I have asked that they do so BEFORE calling me to schedule service. They do not care that I have malfunctioning push door openers, misplaced hinges that need removal and doors that scrape the surface beneath. They do not care that they are wasting my time. They do not care about customer service. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! They scheduled installation for 2 days which we took off we did all the tear down, repairs, painting expecting to have complete laundry room cabinets. I never received a call that the doors weren't in stock and 0 ETA on when they would ever come in, but they hung stuff anyway. Along with the doors, a drawer is missing as well as a shelf. The countertop cabinet came in at 45inches (ok we aren't 8ft tall who would think that's normal) because they didn't look at the original drawing done on paper. The installer cut it to the correct size (35inches), but subsequently hung the top row of cabinets with the bottom sitting at 69inches. At 5'7 I can't even touch the bottom shelf of those cabinets and the drawings state height of 60 inches. They want full payment upon starting installation but my guess is they are close to going broke. If your only installing cabinets why would you come with half the product and expect full payment which means you will never hear from them again. If the supply chain is so bad then push back installs before people tear out their original cabinets. ZERO communication from this company at any point after the initial sale they never even did final measurements to ensure these were correct. Agree with other comments IKEA has better quality but below is what we are left with no ETA On ever having it completed. I guess I'll have to hire another place to have the doors built at this point. We also had a sink and still need to reinstall one but the designer didn't leave room for it so part of one of the cabinets below will have to be taken out (by us of course) read more

After setting an appointment a designer arrived on time and with our imput of wants and needs designed 3 great closets. On installation day 2 crews arrived also on time and installed the closets in timely manner. The entire process from design to install was done very professionally. The project we contracted for has been a disaster from design to install to getting problems fixed and many issues resolved. They were very quick to take our money but they never return phone calls or respond to emails. The designer was fired, the initial installer who made a mess which he could not fix was fired and the install manager quit after lying to us. We began this project in October of 2021 and as of July 11 we still have an unacceptable and unusable "custom" office. read more

ZERO STARS Just like everyone else, I do not recommend using this vendor. There is little to no communication between Sales, CAD and production which seems to result in regular mistakes in what is built or not built. My install was set for December 5 and here we are on February 13, still trying to complete the job. They were just here and 4 of the shelves don't fit and will have to be brought over tomorrow. Ridiculous! My salesperson Rose, pretty much extracted herself from the relationship early on (and I think she should have stayed on top of things start to finish Based on what I've read, I'm likely only getting attention because I still owe them $8,000. Kiana and Shelby are really nice and easy to work with and the installers are nice, too, but this company really needs to get it together. Company does not deliver as promised. They do not show up for scheduled appointments. When they did show up- they did not have the materials. Installation was not performed correctly and needed to be re-done. Manager lied repeatedly about materials being available/ timing . Seems CBD pays money to remove their bad reviews. This is the worst company ever. Debbie and Gil who own the franchise do not care about customer service. All they care about is their bottom line. From creepy o stall guys, 20 phone calls, no response, bad Installation with zero call backs and follow up. Cannot fill out my BBB complaint fast enough. Even twine of the sales staff had to quit in the middle of my job because of lack of support from the "higher ups". It's not a huge company so you know they know how horrible they are. PHOENIX, AZ LOCATION: STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! WHERE DO I START? I designed a unit for my online boutique - THIS WAS TO BE THE FACE OF MY BUISNESS!!! This was back in April 2022. The designer scheduled me out for June 2022 for installation! Upon their late arrival, the installers came to install the unit. Prior to the completion, I walked into a nightmare, IT WAS NOT MY DESIGN IN SIZE OR FEATURE! It was a Friday at 4:30pm, so I had to wait over a holiday weekend to speak to someone about the issues. I was told by the installers, that the designer was no longer with the company, and there had been many issues similar to mine. When I contacted the office on that Tuesday, the receptionists were rude and I was given the run around. The sales manager Jackie, never got back to me EVER!!! I finally got a call from the installer's manager Eric. I was basically left to work with the design I did not pay for. We made a few design changes and scheduled another install. The install was started but once again, incomplete. A drawer was ordered to be installed within three weeks. It is now JULY, I call, and yes Eric is no longer with the company!!!!! I speak to a new manager, James Baker, who stated to me that the drawer had been in and he would schedule to have it installed along with some molding that was comped to me. The morning of the install date, I heard NOTHING! I called and discovered it was not scheduled or installers didn't have it on their schedule, even though I was given a reminder call over the weekend. This unit is for my business so each time I have an installer come, I have to shut down and lose money. They finally show up 4 hours later and the drawer is the wrong size!!!! They also installed my other two drawers with damage and extra holes they tried to patch out without letting me know. It is JULY 19, and now I am waiting on drawers again. They also brought me used dirty shelves that are marked up that they failed to install the first time. I have tried constantly to get the contact for the owner of the company and no one will give me his contact. James states he will have him call me!!!!p read more

After 3 tries my closet is not complete. Twice material was cut wrong. Things are missing or poorly installed. Installers left without completing the install and said someone will call you. I don't hear from anyone unless I repeatedly email and call and I now finally have a "service appointment" to complete my closet. IF that appointment is successful my install will be a 4 week process. I absolutely do not recommend you buy a closet system from Closets by Design. read more

At the beginning I felt as if they weren't as communicative as I would have liked, however they guys worked hard and did a great job. There was a wrong measurement in a cabinet and they didn't argue or try to negotiate again, they made the change and then trimmed out the closet. We ordered garage cabinets and they are put together really well. But my designer forgot to take into her design that the cupboards would open right up into the garage track, so they were not able to install the doors on two very large cupboards. Disappointing. Then they wanted to offer me 15% off to do my closet. Why would I when you didn't get the measurements right in a garage. read more

We had our garage and master closet done the past two days and the work was excellent. My only frustration was that our designer told us that CBD does not do floating garage shelves. ...but our installer said they do. We now have to look for another company to install a couple of shelves as CBD wants WAY too much for such a small job. I've already found another company that can do the exact work for 66% less. Our installer was Terron (hope I got it right) and his work is excellent. He is also a very nice young man. He had a partner the second day, but his name escapes me. read more

We love our new closet! We just moved into a new house with a HUGE closet and all it had were some shelves and hanger bars. A real waste. I called Closets By Design and was visited by Acacia. She was so fun to work with in our design and she seemed to actually have a passion for organization. I thought that was just something you saw on those design shows, but she's the real deal! They were willing to work around my budget and still got me everything I needed to make my closet feel like something out of a magazine. I reccomend calling these guys before even thinking of calling another company or performing some hoakey DIY from Home Depot. read more

Our closet system turned out really nice, however our salesperson over promised when she said that we would need to take all of the baseboards off in the closet and the installer would replace them in the areas that were left showing with the new baseboards that we purchased. We had a great experience with Closets by Design. They installed beautiful, heavy-duty cabinets in our garage. They are much sturdier than I expected. Bonus! The only draw back...they had one guy doing the installation. He arrived at our house around 9 in the morning and left at 7:45 that evening. It was too much work for one person, that's for sure. I've been waiting 4 1/2 months for closet installations and Erik the Manger called this morning to cancel. His closet installers didn't show up. Erik couldn't even give me a new installation date and who know when he'll call me back. I feel if I have to be affected by closet installations so should every customer. My closets should be installed tomorrow morning. I've call their office twice but the manager and owner won't be there today and who knows when they will be in the office. Our design consultant, Hilary, came out and we told her what we were wanting and she took the measurements, drew diagrams and told us what they could do. We just recently moved here and took advantage of a special offer that we found in a magazine. The installation went great and we love the look and color of our shelves. My new closet is beautiful. Giving 4 stars because it took over 3 months lead time between ordering and giving a 50% down deposit to installation. My designer was informed, but I didn't like that she had to call her "boss" to get approval to "give me an additional discount". It felt like I was buying a used car. However, the final product is worth the wait and I love the customized solution I got for my Master Closet. Install went well, but took 2 days and a return visit for missing accessories and pole brackets. I don't like that I also never got a follow up call from my original consultant once the order was placed with her. This project was expensive for a small master closet ($7k) and it has been a disruptive experience as I was responsible for emptying my closet, demo of old closet fixtures and shelves, painting and patching PRIOR to the install - it took a lot of coordination and my guest bedroom was my temporary closet for a month until the new install. I also paid out of pocket another $1k for the demo, patching and paint job. Like I have stated, I love my new closet but want to share that it was a big project that took over 3 months to complete. I had no idea what to expect so I am sharing so future customers can be prepared and manage expectations. read more

Worked with Ira in early January to design 3 closets. Appt on January 30 to build the closets. Didn't have all the materials with. As of march 10th, still waiting for them to come back to finish the closets. Update April 2017 - finally have the finished drawers in my closet. Didn't get the jewelry organizer I paid for. Additional shelves I asked for didn't fit in the portion of the closet I was planning. Still very disappointed. read more

Your installer was very nice and professional. She did a good job but I am a little disappointed with the final product. I don't like that the doors bang when closing them and there is nowhere to put cork tags to silence them since the doors barely make it to the shelf when closing. I tried but nothing I tried worked. For the money the Reach in Closet costs the doors should not close with a bang! I also did not know there would be so many position holes in the closet since your pictures on the website are taken straight on you don't see the holes. I can live with that but the door banging is a problem. read more

And so I called around and Closets by Design was able to cut the cost in half for us with the same design. Signed contract with 50% of the cost due up front ( no problem) with an install date 2 months later. The consultation lasted nearly 3 hours for a the smaller master bedroom closet. Install was a complete cluster!! The measurements the consultant took were an entire foot off which meant less organizational space. The install crew apologized over and over while the consultant couldn't be bothered to address the issue. Closet had to be re-measured and new materials delivered which took another three hours. The owner Mr. Gil Santos was less than helpful, arrogant and rude! In the end the I received a credit for the shortage which didn't happen immediately or without a major battle with the office manager and consultant that lasted more than two weeks with multiple emails, calls and text. This was absolutely the WORST customer service, service after the sale and customer satisfaction EVER!!! Space solutions delivered a much better customer experience and delivered the agreed design on a different project. Please don't waste your time or money with closets by design horrible experience on top of having to live with a design that didn't align to the design agreed in the contract. Let me start by saying the install work was good. There was two major problems we had with these people. Very poor customer service, they will never return your call. We made the mistake of using a credit card for the initial down payment but ask them not to use it for the total cost, that we wanted to pay cash when the job was complete. So we ask them not to use the card they had on file. When the installers told us that the jewelry drawer inserts were on back order and it was noted on the invoice that they owed the inserts, we made the mistake of signing.The next day they used the card that we ask them not to use, and as far as the inserts are concerned I guess they feel we don't deserve them. Its been about seven months and we have called several times and they never return the calls. The designer never came to see the completed work or asked was it done to our approval. We live in a new development and you would think that she would try to get more business as neighbors would come all the time to see our new closet and pantry, but I guess she couldn't care less.
