I envisioned turning a small room in our home into a closet and couldn't be happier with the design! If you get lucky enough to have Viveca be your designer she was amazing! She even drew up some future plans (such as adding a little island with built-in drawers into the center of the room) for me. I told her I was on a strict budget and she was very mindful of that and never pushed for me to add-on anything (which I experienced with another company). The installation went smoothly and took about 2 hours with two men. They were flexible with my work schedule and even bumped up my installation date a month early due to an opening in the schedule and knowing I wanted this done ASAP :) I would highly recommend. read more

We had a very positive experience with Closets by Design recently. Our designer Sheryl took a lot of time measuring and asking questions so that the outcome would be just right...and it is. The installers (Neil, Todd and Elias) were also very tidy and professional. The only downside to the process is that it took about 2 months from the time we ordered to have it custom made and installed, however, we are very happy customers and the outcome was worth the wait! read more

I love my new closet! Everything was seamless, from the quote, to the design, to the installation. I would definitely use them again!

First and foremost I must say thank you to every person on the team that helped make this entire process seamless and memorable! Considering I had ZERO knowledge about what I wanted, I couldn't be happier with the finished product and my overall experience with this company. I have a small business I run out of my home with my son and I needed a space that would increase our productivity through design. I spend many hours at home and desperately needed an efficient office system. Annabell was our designer and she was absolutely phenomenal!! Her professionalism not only helped to decide what I needed to be 100% functional, she also spent the time to educate me in all aspects moving forward, ultimately alleviating my initial organization issues. The installers arrived early (being a US Navy veteran this meant so much to me!!) and were just as professional and courteous. My son and I were so excited when the project was complete we jumped right into work without missing a beat!! Nostalgia at its finest!!! What I liked best about the process is the follow up. I was not expecting a phone call at all and was pleasantly surprised when the office wanted to see how everything worked and if there was anything else they could assist with. I really must say this was one of the most respectful interactions I have had and I couldn't have been more nervous going into such a transformation. They take the time to ensure their clients are happy, educated and pleased from start to finish! Next up: my sons closest! Maybe he will actually put his clothes away!! :) Great work, great people... thank you so much! read more

This is my 3rd house I have put a closet in by Closets by Design! I love their design' the installers are great and the office manager is exceptional. Dea has been the designer of all 3 of my closets and she always comes up with a closset that is spectacular and she has always worked with in my budget! Love Closets by Design! I would totally recommend!!!! read more

I have to say that in a time when most field service experiences are typically mediocre, this was a really great experience! We hired these guys for a master closet install. The designer (Emily) came out and was great to work with. She knew what she was doing and quickly laid out a system that would work for us. She didn't try to oversell or add unnecessary add-ons, just what works. The company called with reminders two times before the scheduled install. The installers showed up on time, worked fast (it was snowing out), and did a good job. The lead installer (don't remember his name) was very friendly. Along the line they did forget to include one small piece of the closet (bridge) that was definitely included at the initial consultation, but wasn't included in the installers list. When I mentioned it, the installer said he was sure they would accommodate. Sure enough, a couple days later they had it scheduled to come out and install the last piece at no additional charge and no questions asked. My only knock would be that it takes quite awhile to get on the schedule, so if you are interested, plan on a couple months before you're going to have your project completed. Overall, I enjoyed working with this company. They have good communication, show up when they say they are going to, do what they say they are going to do, and follow up when it's complete. read more

I was torn between a four and five star rating, so let's say 4.5! I have used this company before and always found them to be competitively priced, professional and efficient so when I decided it was time to make my entry closet more useable I called them first. The designer was efficient but there seemed to be a bit of a breakdown between (just little things) between the design(er) and the first installer that came out. Still, it required a second visit and time at home to correct these little things. Had they been managed through the first time, my review would be five stars but stuff happens. Everyone was very pleasant to work with (especially the second install guys that came out!) and the follow up to insure my satisfaction has been exceptional. I'm very happy with the end product and would not hesitate to use Closets by Design again read more

Zero complaints! Installers showed up on time, were professional and courteous - and finished the job in about 3 hours! The finished product looks great - beyond happy with the results. Would definitely recommend - in fact I already have! read more

Had a great experience from A - Z...the consultant took tinge to review our needs and designed a solution that worked it great. The installation went smoothly and all involved were great to work with! read more

From start to finish, Closets By Design was fantastic. They were prompt in scheduling our initial consultation and arrived on time, which I always appreciate. The consultant was super knowledgeable and helped address the multiple areas which all had different needs. Once we placed our order, we did have to wait a few weeks, but given they are custom ordered, that's not much of a surprise. The truly remarkable installation crew blew me away with the customer service. They were friendly, extremely quick and made sure I was satisfied every step of the way. I'd highly recommend Closets By Design for all your custom needs. read more

Get a second/third quote. nice game of the 40% off plus act now for another 15%. However, when I looked for a second quote here is what I found: 1) a better quote 2) a better delivery date and 3) more experience. the sales rep here drew up a decent design. wasn't until a more exp guy at Affordable showed me how it could be more user efficient. we were happy. Closets by design got upset we shopped them and they actually raised their 'best' quote when we circled back to see the best they could do. Our rep at CBD had a full time job as a REMAX realtor and was a sweet woman. however, for something you want to look at in your closet, go elsewhere. read more

This is our third home we've had done by CBD. Their employees are excellent. Very professional and we LOVE our closets!

Detail oriented on design, and fast clean install with an excellent result. Only downfall was the shelf width for a narrow closet was mis-estimated then later we had to cancel once their install team corrected it. Nonetheless - at least they caught it ahead of time and let us know. read more

Terrible install. Poor quality job. Safety hazard!!! Paid almost $3K and then waited 3 months to get cabinets for a kids playroom. The cabinets were not centered around my window as I requested. They were installed crooked with lots of gaps. They scratched the paint off the walls around the perimeter of the install and installed the premium trim crooked and unfinished. WORST OF ALL, THEY DRILLED THROUGH AN ELECTRICAL WIRE AND IT CREATED A SHORT THAT DISABLED POWER TO A SECTION OF MY HOME! Looking at having to tear out the cabinets to repair the damage or to rewire the electrical around it. It may cost me thousands if Closets by Design doesn't step up and remedy this! Waiting to see if they take ownership and do the right thing read more

BUYER BEWARE!!! The sales rep was very nice. However, the units are overpriced for what you get - melamine (particleboard laminate with a thermally fused paper/resin coating). Even at 50% off list price, expect to pay $800-$900 for a very basic system in an 8 foot closet (everything is an extra charge $$$). Also we did not want to wait nearly 60 days for the install. So, we decided to cancel the contract. However, it was 9 days later which is where the problem starts. (No work was done, nothing was started). However, Closets by Design is withholding $672 for "current expenses". When I asked for a itemized listing of the expenses, this is what I received: Credit card processing fees: $112 Designer commission paid: $256 Office processing expenses: $40 Franchise royalties paid: $264 REALLY??? My husband and I are very pleased with the closets. They are exactly what we wanted. They are well made, sturdy and look good! Our designer made great use of the space. I thought I had a lot of clothes, now I am not so sure! It was a great deal, 2 closets for the price of 1! All of the staff we had contact with were pleasant, professional and responsive. Had a great experience with ClosetsbyDesign. The sales rep. was professional and on time. The install crew was professional, on-time, and cleaned up after the install. We had a master closet designed with drawers and shelving; Turned out great. I only gave it 4 stars because the cabinet doors that we chose were not in stock & we had to wait a few more days after the install. ClosetsbyDesign did install substitute drawers and cabinets in the mean time, which was nice. From the contract signing to install is about 60 days. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMLANY!!! I HAD THE WORST EXPERIENCE... I live in a town home that is only $940 ft I have three small closets that I wanted to be more accessible and organized so I called this company and had them come out and give me an estimate with 40% off and another 15% off of that. The total came out to be $3,500 and what I feel like the designer did was add 40% on and another 15% on to that. They booked me 4 months out because they were so busy, and when they finally came out to do the work and I saw the finished product it was a joke. I then tried to get a hold of a manager which that didn't happen and nobody got back with me I would not recommend this company to anybody. Don't waste your time or your money trust me. I should have been smarter and read the reviews first and gone with a different company or done it myself because I literally could have done a better job. I have never been more disappointed. This has happened right before Christmas and during the holidays and half of my closet is still on the floor because I have nowhere to put my stuff and the quality of what they put in is crap! I hope all you people that are wanting to get your closets designed get a better result than I did and you will if you don't use this company do your research first that's my advice! read more

Top quality product. I live in a very old house where nothing is square and everything is difficult... the designer did a great job anticipating potential issues and the installers did an outstanding job making everything fit perfectly. I'm looking for where I can get them to install more... :) read more

The designer (Cindy Dare) was able to understand my needs for organization within a relatively small master closet (as well as better storage in our basement). The gentlemen that completed the install were professional, courteous, and did a fabulous job. Love my closet - no more shoes covering the closet floor. Thank you! read more

I had a consult scheduled yesterday and no one showed up! Left work early and when I called to find out where she was they had no idea. Finally told me the consultant was sick and not coming. Very pleased with the whole process. Courtney came and took the time to measure and give us all our options. Installation was fast and professional. Friendly installers worked from their truck and installed quickly. I only have one issue. The hinges on the one cabinet were not level with each other - limiting us two or three slots we couldn't use. But we worked it out. I think it is beautiful and functional and I am already receiving compliments. I would recommend. read more

We had an excellent experience with Closets by Design. Our designer, Roxanne, was very thorough and listened carefully to our needs. While we had to wait about 6 weeks for the install - it took only one day to complete, and the two workers even cleaned up and vacuumed before they left! THe closet in our newly constructed home was very big, but not functional at all. Now it is gorgeous with tons of space. read more

So far I am very please with the product. The installers were pleasant and efficient. Clean- up was almost perfect. My only complaint is with the scheduling. I was told they would arrive Mon.morning between 9:30-10:30 and work most of the day and come back Tues morning to finish. They arrived at 10:30 and promptly announced that they had to leave at 1 to go to another job. I had a Dr. appt. Tues morning at 8:30 so I told them not to come until 10. They said they would be here at 9:30. My son took off work to help me out-- and someone didn't call until 10 to tell me they weren't coming until 11:40. It could all have been done in a day. Scheduling, clean-up plus a job well done are what I base my review on. read more

I am very happy with our finished product! We started out a little shaky with a newbie designer but owner Dan stepped in to make sure we were getting what we wanted before we started the install. He made up for all the unsure moments and gave us an even better design than we what we started with at the same cost. I am so grateful for owners like Dan who care about the customers above all else. And the installers were amazing! They knew exactly what they were doing, were extremely friendly and polite, and cleaned up completely. Kudos to the whole team! I will definitely be recommending them. read more

This is my second time using Closets By Design and I wasn't disappointed! My closet went from a crowded, small room to a clean, organized closet that I'll have for a lifetime. I gave it a 2 because the sales rep was on top of it most of the time but I ordered on 12/26/17 and did not get an install date until March. This is way too long and California Closets delivered much faster. Because the movers had already brought everything and we had no room to move stuff I could not have them install the garage cabinets, the office desk, and the mud room cabinet until the first week of April after the initial install in at the middle of March. I asked repeately to have the installs done BEFORE the movers arrived but they did not respond to this to this request saying there were too many installs. In my opinion, they did not have enough installers. At the install the first week of April, there were mistakes made. They did not have the drawer for the vanity, the drawer for my printer did not fit, they did not finish grouting around all of the shelves, and the installers scratched the new wood floors to install the desk. The sales rep came out a few days after the completion on April 5th and noted the things that needed to be fixed. She said it would take two weeks. I had to text the sales rep on May 9th-a good month after I was told it would take 2 weeks-- because no one had contacted me about a new date to finish the errors made. I did not hear back from the rep until May 16th after I texted. During the week of May 21st an installer showed up with a shelf but had no idea about the drawer for the vanity, the misfitted shelf for the printer nor was prepared to fix the wood floor scratches. The installers were able to do the grouting. That same day, I called and spoke to Selena who said they had not heard from the rep and there was confusion on the things that needed to be fixed even though I saw on the paper of the installer a shelf for the vanity, etc. Selena said they would reach out to talk with the rep that day and get back to me with install info. On June 1st I had not heard from anyone and called the office and texted the rep. I got a call from Gabriela who apologized and appreciated my patience. She said they would talk with the rep-Kristi that day and would call me back with install info. I also texted Kristi who said she would get back to me by the end of the day on June 1st. At 6:30pm ish on June 1st Kristi said that Selena would call me on June 4th with an install date. I said that I needed to know Saturday June 2nd of the install date and asked that the rep call the boss to get that date. She responded with no one works on Saturday so again I was put off after waiting several weeks for them to fix the errors. I told her if no one called me on Saturday,June 2nd that I would take this issue to social media which I have at 5:30 pm. They closed at 3pm. So I need other built-ins and have already gone to another vendor. I have lost trust in Closets by Design as they do not put customers first in my opinion. They took my money first but have been very unresponsive in fixing the errors. I have made two payments --one in April and one in May but the work is still not done. Poor customer service!!! I suggest that you take your business elsewhere as there is a real disconnect between the sales people and the people in the office. I find it interesting that you can only call the office people but the sales reps give you their cell phones and emails for texting or emailing but I not found it easy to get in touch with the office people unless I call. I think that there needs to be much improvement in the customer service arena especially in the amount of time it takes for an install and in the amount of time it takes to fix errors. Let's hope I hear from someone on Monday, June 4th. Respectfully submitted--Debbie Toups read more

This should be called Closets by Deception. We went through the "design" phase with the brochure photo of the design we wanted clearly stipulated. In fact, it sat in front of us the entire time. In other words, what we saw was what we expected because nothing was stated to the contrary. The brochure photo clearly showed crown molding and slanted shoe shelves, but the "representative" never stated that everything in the photo had to be requested at additional cost. What resulted is a cheap looking closet that looked nothing like the referenced photo. When I raised the matter, I was advised everything could be "fixed" at an additional cost. It took only 4 1/2 hours to install, when they repeatedly stated it would take two full days. Sadly, she could not measure the room correctly, and the install resulted in another set of measurements. Basic math is an apparent problem. And, one set of shelves was not level. It took a 1/4" shim to make it level. When asked what the product consisted "solid wood" was the answer when it's really cheap particle board. When I removed a shelf support to reset it the finish came off with it. Is that a sign of good quality? They don't account for outlets or junction boxes in the "design." "We always cover them up" was the statement I got when I raised the matter. I believe junction boxes must always be exposed for easy access. Don't trust these guys to be truthful. The product is cheap, pricing is deceptive and integrity is nonexistent. UPDATE I began noticing that some drawers pulled out at different lengths when they all are supposed to be fully extending drawers. I have four sets of drawers of 5 drawers each. So I measured them all from the front of the unit to where the drawer pulled out. It was a bit stunning to see the results: Unit 1: 1 @ 16"; 2 @ a 14 1/4"; 1 @ 12"; 1 @ 14". Unit 2: 1 @ 16 3/4"; 1 @ 15 1/2"; 1 @ 11 3/4"; 1 @ 14 3/4"; 1 @ 13 3/4; Unit 3: 2 @ 15 1/2"; 1 @ 14 1/2"; 1 @ 13"; 1 @ 10 1/4": Unit 4: 1 @ 12 1/2"; 2 @ 13"; 2 @ 15". So, the rating stands even though the owner has cried foul. You won't get a good product and as Susan V learned the expensive way they will take you for a ride. read more

The salesperson was engaging and very nice. I was given an install date 2 months from her initial visit. While that seemed ok at the time, it was a very long time to wait. I told myself that quality was worth waiting for. WRONG! The long awaited day came and the drawers did not close. The workmanship was horrible and the install was sloppy with big "L" brackets that were bent and visible. To the companies credit they remade the drawers so they fit the frame, put on better quality glides and gave me three extra shelves at no extra charge. They also replaced a built in hamper that reverberated and echoed everything you closed a drawer. I don't know if the issue was a bad design, poor quality or an installation issue. The problem was they sent back the same installer who was very nice but inexperienced. The drawers closed better but it was far from acceptable. The brackets were taken down and they patched the wall but it now needed to be painted. The third time they sent a more experienced installer and the drawers closed and looked fine. The owner was unavailable to come to the phone but the office staff is very nice. I've had closets installed In other houses and did not have the aggravation of this one. I don't know if the problem was poor quality manufacturing, poor installation or perhaps a combination of both. In the end it worked out fine but after three attempts. read more

I had Closets by Design and Closet Factory come out to do two different projects in our home this month. I am highly impressed with Closets by Design. Holly came out to design, by hand, a unit that fit a difficult to design space because of a wall that covers 1/3 of the closet. She was able to create 3 hanging areas, 5 shelves and 4 drawers, which created a lot more space than before. She was patient with showing me how the design would look by taking me back to the room and visually showing me in the space with her measuring tape when I had questions. She was very friendly, acknowledgeable, and friendly with my pestering child. Ben came out to install and was informative, friendly, and detailed in explaining what he would do and what he had to do when the project was completed. I found it extremely helpful that he gave me a paper at the beginning telling me of the reminders for before, during, and after the installation. He had to adjust the plans because of the wall and floor and knew exactly what needed to be done to help the unit sit level on the floor and against the walls. My floor slopes and the wall is concave on the back wall; both things I wasn't aware of. He was very professional. I received a courtesy text from Holly the day after installation asking how I liked the completed project, and a call from the company 2 days later asking the same thing and if I had any questions. Not once did this company talk bad about the other. They were top notch, treated me like a valued customer, and mailed me a warranty paper and the last invoice a week after installation. Compared to Closet Factory, who had nothing but bad things to say about Closets by design "bad reviews, poor design-screws showing, and terrible customer service", Closets by Design is the Nordstrom of these types of companies. They are superior with design, quality, customer service, and follow up when compared to Closet Factory. The comments made by the other company couldn't be farther from the truth. I had nothing but a great experience with Closets by Design. However, with Closet Factory I experienced bad customer service and no follow up. Customer service between CF and CbD is like night and day. If you are comparing the two companies, I highly suggest you use Closets by Design. They are excellent and will always receive my business and recommendation in the future. As for Closet Factory, I will be posting a review for them as well. read more

Yesterday I was five a wonderful presentation by Closet's by Design's Designer, Lara Lott Baker. The products are wonderful (I was interest in office furniture for my home) and Lara was personable, professional and knowledge about the products. Unfortunately, I was not able to afford what I wanted, even though she did her very best to try to help me but we just could not get the price low enough. It should be noted that I am 83, on Social Security and work a little job from home, so it was not Lara's inability to sell, but my inability to afford. I highly recommend Closet's by Design and Lara Lott Baker. read more
