TERRIBLE CUSOTMER SERVICE! The "professional" designer did a terrible job in planning my closet, without giving me room to open the wifi panel. I called at least 4 times to try and problem solve my closet issue and was passed from one person to another. I ended up removing a side panel and had to re-do the closet. The new designer came to my home 3 times, she failed to measure, the wrong items were delivered, the installer was rude, smelled like a smokestack and was unable to complete the job because items did not fit. After another month, they had a new installer who was not given handles to complete the job. I asked for some consideration, for the inconvenience and the failure for them to measure properly, order the correct materials, and were unable to install in a timely manner. I has taken at least 5 months for my closet to be re-configured and re-done at a cost I could've paid for an entire new closet and they were taking out 1/3 of my closet. I was not asking for a big discount, just some consideration for the inconvenience, the lack of professionalism and the inability to order correctly and they said NO. It took over 3 months to remove a side panel and order doors...this is their ONE job...closets! Why can't they get it right? They designed a closet that doesn't allow enough access to a wi-fi panel and now I have paid almost $10k to correct a mistake from the original design plan. I have BASIC white cabinets, nothing FANCY. When a company can't see that customer satisfaction should be a priority, then I feel obligated to tell others to research other closet companies. Do yourself a favor, read reviews, get a variety of quotes. This closet cost 3x what I paid for several closets in Florida. I would not recommend Closets by Design to anyone. read more

I got bids from 3 companies and Closets By Design came in first as the best value, plus I had 2 close friends who had recently used them and now had closets so beautiful they needed to show them off. Closets By Design sent Katie to see the space and discuss the possibilities. Then she measured, and right then, at our kitchen table, had a design. There was no hard sell, no "today only" deal, just a plan, and a very reasonable price. A few weeks later Darrin came out to install. He did a beautiful job; it was exactly as designed. She completed the designs and estimates on her first visit and we worked with her on financing. I'm giving a mixed review. My closet is great, they have to come back because part of it wasn't fabricated at the factory which is a bummer. Installation was great- the installer was awesome. The ordering process was ok except I made a change within 24 hours and removed once thing and instead of giving me the full credit of the change the sales person gave some lengthy excuse on why I didn't qualify to get the full amount of the change back. Seemed shady so while I like my closets I wouldn't use her again as a sale person. read more

Full disclosure, I didn't order any cabinets from them. However, I was unimpressed by the fact that their website advertises 55% (40+15%) off, and the scam is that the prices they give are marked up 55% so that they can give you prices that are on par with other companies. For reference I was quoted about 9-10k before discounts, and 4.5-5k after, and other companies quoted me 4.5-5k outright without discounts. Wasn't a fan of the designer who came to my house. She designed the closet based on her wants. She didn't measure my long dresses, didn't listen to anything I told her about why I was getting a new closet, and then 'gave' me all these extra shelves "just so I could do something with them" and then charged me for all the shelves.... shelves I didn't ask for. And when I kept telling her what I needed, she treated me like the things I asked for in my closet were stupid. Well... I'm also paying 5k for this so maybe that's for me to decide. If your job is to design a closet to me, it might do you good to actually listen to what I have to say. Then, she just turned sour when I mentioned I was having quotes from other closet companies. Seriously? Who doesn't get multiple quotes. If you've been in the business long enough, you'd think this would be something she'd figure out a good answer to, like, "Ok! I understand that. Let me tell you how we're superior... and I look forward to hearing from you. I'm sure you'll find we're better than the others after hearing from them." instead of this sour pouty attitude I got. Lastly, the whole drawing for my closet was done with paper, pen, and white-out. This is 2022. The other companies used software. Not to mention she walked into my house and walked around with shoes on, despite the fact that I took my own shoes off, and only discovered late she wore shoes into my bedroom. In contrast, the other people who came in asked me about shoes on or off immediately upon walking in. Based on my first interaction, I just had no interest in proceeding. read more

I've had California Closets and Easy Closets at other houses. Closets by Design is the best so far. Their system sits on the floor and fills up our 10' ceiling. I've used Closets by Design a few times in different houses being pretty happy with the process and outcomes. Unfortunately, this last time the closets were installed with damage to our wood floors. We had just removed the carpets and installed the wood floors prior to the closets being installed. 2 out of the 4 closets we identified damage to the floor within the closets. I sent pictures to the design consultant who stated she would follow-up but it has been over a month and followed up again last week with no response. My suggestion would be the final payment shouldn't be granted until the customer is fully satisfied. read more

Susan our designer came to our home and asked about what we needed, looked at our existing closet space and came up with a design that optimizes the space. She explained all the options and we went the classic collection with the premium package. She told us it would be a couple of months before installation. We live in an older building downtown and I was concerned about the need for an electrical outlet. I stopped by the office and met with Michael, sent him pictures of our garage area and when the installer arrived he did not need an electrical outlet so all was good. Fred was our installer and he did a wonderful job. He texted me that he was about 20 minutes away, arrived ahead of the scheduled start time and went to work. I designed a new walk in pantry and new deep shelving for my master bath linen closet. They had that flimsy white wire Lowe's shelving that is not functional. I am so so happy with the finished product!! This is the best money I have spent in a long time. It triples my storage and looks fabulous! The process does not come without a couple of hiccups. First it will take several months from ordering until install. The demand is way up since covid. Also after the install the electricity in my master bedroom was blown. They were very responsive and came back to allow me access to some wiring behind the system. It worked like a charm and my power was perfect again. read more

We had a great experience working with Closets by Design! We were able to have someone come out pretty quickly to help us design the closet. The installation team was punctual and did a great job while still finishing the installation much faster than anticipated. The total price was about half of the price we were quoted by competitors so they have a great value and run a lot of promotions. The only slight annoyance is that they don't patch the holes in your walls from the previous hanging rods or paint so we had to hire someone to come in afterwards to fix that - you can buy the backing they sell to cover it up but for us it was more cost effective to just have a painter come in afterwards. The experience started great- Nicole was amazing! She designed the closet, was friendly and professional but that is the only good thing I can share. Price was better than the competition and...you get what you pay for. One of the installers stole jewelry from my bedroom. I contacted the company and was told "if you think it's a big deal, then file a police report", which I did. Three months later, the sheriff informed me the company has not been cooperative or responsive to their multiple attempts to get the case addressed and therefore the report would be closed. I reviewed my Ring doorbell footage and can clearly see one of the installers get a backpack from the van, come in and 6 minutes later return the bag to the van, then returning to join the other installer. I also, specifically asked them to only use one bathroom which I pointed out upon their arrival and within an hour, the same installer was using a different bathroom. If you choose to use them, I suggest watching over them the ENTIRE time they are in your home. I also urge you to consider using Closet Factory, who I have since hired and they did a fantastic job! read more

UPDATE: The designer was very quick to address the original design issues and without charge. She showed genuine concern and I appreciate the prompt attention. Way to go! This is the second home where I've had my master bedroom closet done by Closets By Design. I absolutely loved the result on the first one, and am overall content with the second one although not as pleased. The design work on both maximized and organized the space well, and the quality and install were great both times. However, this second time something seems off with the design work as I have quite a bit too little hanging space and a rather big excess or shelving space. Not sure how that happened as they take measurements of existing hanging needs. And the second one was a LOT more expensive; the closet was a tad bigger and it's years after the first one but I felt the pricing model transparency was not clear; I would have appreciated a crystal clear pricing structure instead of the very high starting figure and all the "discounts" the designer threw in. I will say the communication throughout the process was proactive and excellent, and the timelines for deliverables were met. That was refreshing. I would use again but push harder for better pricing. read more

Ok, closets were more expensive than expected, but we really enjoyed working with the designer to get our systems (primary closet, pantry and mudroom) just right, the install was delayed a few months due to schedule/supplies, but went quickly once on-site and the final product looks amazing and is very functional (lots more storage than the wire system it replaced). We had cabinets and built-in desks installed by this company in our office. The laminate countertop was installed with a scratch and was 2 inches short on one side. They fixed it by using a Sharpie on the scratch and creating a 2" laminate filler. It looks ok, but not what we expected given the price we paid ($8500). After installation, we asked to have one small enhancement made. The salesperson said no problem and quoted us $300. We agreed. A week later they came back and said they cannot do the change for $300 - it would cost a lot more. I've never seen a company quote a price in writing and then decide they can't do it for that price. UPDATE (06/18/2021): The owner of the Denver franchise called me yesterday to personally apologize for our experience. He admitted that their sales process needs work. Sometimes the sales people quote prices without checking with the fabrication/installation team first. He will work to change that. He still was not able to honor the $300 quote. Instead he refunded me $300 in the hope we will consider using the company for a future project. It is nice to see a company work hard to fix their mistakes. read more

We needed a new closet set up and called Closets by Design. We were pleased to be contacted right away by Michelle and she was great. She met with us right away and helped us figure out what we really wanted. The closet was installed recently and we are very happy with the result. The installers were great people and did a good job with the installation. The only thing we could mention as an improvement is we believe the closet unit should be thoroughly cleaned by the installers before they leave. They left with a quick dusting and all the surfaces were actually very dirty. It took a lot of muscle power to get it clean. I just feel for the money we spent we deserve to be left with a clean unit. Other than that we would definitely recommend Michelle and Closets by Design. read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! If you choose to get a closet here, I hope you have home security or make sure to be home during that time. The contractor that installed our closet did it with no one home and once he finished, not only left my front door unlocked but WIDE open for ANYONE to walk right in while I'm at work (I knew this because of my home security). I called the salesperson to let them know and she was great by offering to go to my home and close it herself but I had already left work to do it myself. She also offered to give me another closet at cost that we were looking to do in the future. But why would I hire them again to install a second closet when something so easily avoidable (closing and locking the front door when finished) could have turned into a major safety problem? I called again and spoke with someone else about seeing if there was anything they could do to make me happy with THIS install and their offer was abysmal. I'm very disappointed with how this company executes their customer service and lost a customer right here for future closets. So, I guess I'd like to say thanks (not really) for providing your customer with zero respect to their home and created what could have been a major issue. I also apologize (not really) for assuming I would receive the best service for closets at your cost... Apparently this company doesn't value the customer being right. Instead, they blamed me for this. Major claps to you **Side note** I'm sure Dan J. will reply to this review as he has done in the past with other reviews. I just want to place a quote right here that he has mentioned on someone else's review: "We install hundreds of closets every month and we do not always get it right, but, we ALWAYS make it right." ...Unfortunately, they don't always make it right because that was not the end result with my experience. read more
