I stopped in on 2 successive days last week as I was trying to kill time until Gayle was finished with her business. I suppose if you're on a laptop or smart phone all the time, having a physical clock (either analog or digital) might be considered a waste of time. However, I like the physical "feel" of time that a clock provides, along with the various design considerations. Clocks Etc. has a nice selection, all nicely displayed and at various price points. I came away with a nice Bulova travel clock and another "radio antennae" desk clock (one for each day). Both were good values and getting to my choice was half the fun. My only quibble is that store staff tended to hover a bit, but that just might be potential shoplifting vigilance. read more

I recently took an expensive watch into Clocks Etc. I had been told by a jeweler that the cost to fix this watch was going to be $500. After learning that Scott, founder of Clocks Etc also provides watch repairs, I asked him to take a look. Five minutes later the watch was working and on my wrist...no charge. A nice shop that contains actual clock-making expertise. The inventory goes up and down with the seasons but generally there's a lot to choose from. From large wooden grandfather clocks to small electronic clock doo-dads. Located just a few seconds away from La Chataigne bakery and a coffee shop just across the lot as well. So one can much, sip and clockify. Repairs take a long time in my experience. read more

Over the past year I have brought two watches in for repair and am very happy with the results and service.

I was introduced to this store via their booth at the Lafayette Art & Wine Festival. I spun the wheel and won a set of Melamine coasters from their shop, for free and I love them! When I went to go claim my free gift I took time to look around the store and fell in love. The items they sell are extremely unique and are great gift items! The variety of clocks is incredible. I am planning on saving up for one of their Kit-Cat clocks, I have always one and I am excited that I found a store that sells them. I also came back a second time to introduce my friend to this store because she was looking to buy a gift for someone. Cool! Sure, a store dedicated entirely (well, nearly) to clocks is just the sort of elcetric thing that is characteristc of Lafayette. I've been here 3 years and didn't go in until recently. I've been looking for the ideal clock for my kitchen. They have a huge range, and nothing they had *quite* struck me as my style, but still, lots of options. I dragged my girlfriend here and she loved it too. I'm sure I'll go back and eventually find the ideal clock. read more

I went to Clock, Inc. for the first time today for a watch repair. I spent a few minutes looking around and found a cool water fountain candle to purchase. When I went back to the counter I was told my watch could not be repaired. No problem, I can try somewhere else, right? Then I noticed the watch spring bar was removed and now broken. I asked what happened and explained the watch spring bar was not broken when I brought it in, just the strap was broken and needing repair. The guy came out and said that when he tried to put the spring bar back, it broke. I asked if he could repair it or replace it and he was immediately defensive. He said he could look around to find one but the strap was broken so it didn't matter. I thanked him and asked for a new spring bar, since he broke mine. He laughed and said "what, so you can hang it on the wall?". I asked him why he was being mean to me. In my eyes, he broke a part of my watch that was not broken when I brought it in and I just asked him to fix or replace it. I told him I didn't like how he was treating me. I gathered my even more broken watch to leave. On my way out I said that I was disappointed with how I was being treated and he said "Geez... goooodddbbbyyyyyeeee". I am so sad that I went in to support a local small business and was treated with such disrespect. Caution ~ customer service here is not good. The owner is not a nice man. read more

This review is from Nov 2015. Since zero stars are not allowed I must choose one. My experience with this shop is not good. I took a clock in on January 2015 for a repair and just received it back on November 01, 2015. Throughout the 10 month process I was not kept informed of the progress. I had to call repeatedly only to be told that it was being worked on. My initial estimate for repair was not what I ended up paying because of poor communication from this shop. When I questioned as to why it took so long I was told that there were thousands of clocks to repair. Had I known this from the beginning I would have sought out a different shop. On my way out after letting the shop know of my displeasure I was told that they have many happy customers, suggesting that I was wrong about my impression. These are the facts.....judge for yourself. Updated in March 2017 The clock no longer runs. The pendulum does not swing even after a manual start. What a lousy repair facility. Considering that I paid an enormous amount for the original repair and on top of that a complete service on the mechanism the clock should have lasted longer than 15 months. DON'T use them for repairs. There are much better shops in the area. read more

This store clocks!! I discovered this little gem way back in high school, and just about forgot about it until walking downtown the other day. It was great back then, and it's even better now! They really have expanded the store upon just selling clocks and added lots of cool ect... I was totally blown away with how much quirkey-artsy, cool stuff they had. I felt as if I walked into some little store out of a dream...so many cool things and actually equipped with some quite reasonable prices. Just discovered this shop a week before Christmas. Our friend, I, introduced us to it. They have clocks of every shape and size from miniature clocks to various sizes of Grandfather clocks. They have those cute kit-kat clocks with the rolling eyes and pendulm tails, lots and lots of small wall clocks with a variety of designs--loved the painted cats; several EXTRA LARGE wall clocks (which would be fun to have as a chronic myopic being) and more and more, They also had several fountains with little waterfalls......hey I never knew I wanted one! Suitable for indoor or outdoor? They also had miniature trees (6" to 24" ). I bought a 12" tree that had little bulbs with branches delicately laced with :"snow." The staff was warm and cheery. It's a fun fun shop to visit and buy the clock of your dreams. Actually the clock of my dreams would be one of their grandfather clocks but luckily we don't have the room or money for one. My late dad would have loved this shop. We had clocks in every room in the house I grew up in. They all had different times----the point was to have a clock in every room nor the right time.... :D read more

I've had a note to myself to check out the full store in Lafayette for about a year. My husband and I saw the Clocks, Etc. booth at Walnut Creek's 2013 Cat Festival. (I think) and I've had Scott's business card in my purse since then with a reminder of all the great gift ideas they had on display in their booth. The store must be even more awesome! More than just clocks, they sell home and garden accessories, and also offer engraving services. I have looked online at their selection a few times and have fallen in love with a singing stuffed cow. I need to see the adorable cow ("Bessy Mae") in person, so I need to make the short trip to Lafayette. She'd make a great gift (note: free gift wrapping available). My favorite: The whimsical Black Kitty clock ($65) is right up my alley. The only clock in my home right now is actually a Black Cat clock *(as in the fireworks brand). We LOVE this store. We had a beautiful grandfather clock on layaway for a VERY long time. The layaway was free and they let us choose the terms. This was amazing for us because we could not have afforded such a beautiful clock otherwise. Back in late March, we finally paid off the clock and they delivered it to our home. They did a wonderful job setting it up in our home. While they were there, I showed them my anniversary clock that had been broken for some time. They said they could fix it for me and took it with them. A couple of weeks later, I got a call that my clock was ready. I was delighted. I was very pregnant at the time and about to deliver any day. They held on to the clock for me until June when I was finally able to make the drive from Bay Point to Lafayette. They also have a great collection of unique gifts. I am a professional organizer and I specialize in organizing peoples moves. My clients have a very large Howard Miller Grandfather clock which needed to be packed for their move. I am happy to report that Scott and Wendy came out to my client's home, in the evening, and expertly took the weights, chains and pendulum apart, and carefully packed them. After the move they came to the new residence and put the clock back together again. They were well organized, careful, courteous and professional. Found this place while walking off our Father's Day lunch at Yankee Pier. Awesome, magical place tucked away in back of the same shopping mall featuring FedEx, Chow and Cold Stone Creamery. They had something for everybody. The whirligig lawn ornaments fascinated me. Fortunately for my wallet, I didn't have a lawn. My niece wanted a singing stuffed toy. My mom bought a musical Christmas ornament. My sister is planning to put a clock on layaway. read more

My husband and I wanted a large wall Clock for a wall with 10' Ceilings in our Great Room. We found 2 beautiful 4' round Howard Miller Clocks but couldn't decide which would look better in the space. Wendy and Scott drove out to our house tonight with both clocks. It was Obvious which the winner was once we Could see it in the wall. Once we Made Our decision, Scott hung it on the wall for us also. I call that Concierge service at It's finest. They do have a good selection of clocks and the staff are friendly. Their repair service is extremely lacking. I took one watch there for a battery replacement. Battery was replaced for a good price but stopped again a week later. Repair was completed due to a "stopped movement." Now it has stopped again 3 months later. Never had a problem with the watch before... I also took a pocketwatch there for a total overhaul. They said 8-10 weeks. IT HAS BEEN 8-10 MONTHS AND I STILL DO NOT HAVE IT!!! I will not be returning. Scott and Wendy have been the proprietors for many years and an absolute delight to work with. Their selection in clocks serve every need whether it be design or price point. On Monday, 4/1/14, I visited Clocks etc in order to buy a small battery clock movement. The lady on duty told me that they never sell parts seperately but I would have to bring in the complete clock and have it repaired at, I assume, a considerably higher price than the $9.00 price I eventually found elsewhere. The repair job is a no brainer that practically anybody could do in 5 to 10 minutes. Incidentally Amazon carries a large selection of battery clock movements. This sort of store policy does not encourage people to shop locally. I for one will never patranize this store again. . read more

If you need your cuckoo clock fixed, take it here! You may not see your clock for a while, but that is the nature of the beast. We bought our clock in the Black Forrest so it was really special to us, and when it stopped working we were really sad about it. It didn't keep perfect time when we had it, but now that it was over hauled here, it is keeping the best time it ever has!! You must however be patient with the length of time it takes for the repair though, and trust Scott, because he knows what he is doing. I'm sure it depends how much work you need done, but we didn't get the clock back for 13 months, so like I said, keep this in mind when you bring it in. We are happy though that she is back in the house delighting us with her song and cuckoo chime. read more

The owner repaired my grandfather clock with a new movement. In turn he replaced my chains with generic non brass chains and took my brass chains. I did not like his deception. He keeps clocks for 2-3 mos. at a time. I asked him to also repair a regulator clock that needed a new movement and he gave me 50 excuses why it was not worth repairing. I later found a clock repair place that put a new movement in my regulator clock and have not Had a problem since. The owner of clocks etc. might know about repairing clocks but he is less than honest. I would not recommend him ever! read more

They do good work but didn't do it in a timely fashion. I had repairs done to an 1860s French carriage clock. They originally told me three months it took six and they gave me updates only when I called them they missed two deadlines that they gave me. It would have been nice had they given me periodic updates instead of leaving me in the dark. It ended up being about $100.00 more than originally estimated but as I said they did good work and the clock now looks and sounds great and works well. If you have them do work for you insist on periodic uptakes and reasonable timeframes and cost estimates! While I understand that they are extremely busy hold them to their deadlines, they need to finish one project before taking on more! read more

I was treated poorly by Clocks etc and am totally dissatisfied by the quality of service. I associate so many memories as a child to the ticking and chiming of my family clock. I had the clock shipped to CA from the east and was looking forward to sending it forth into the future with my children. That is all gone now because not only did Clocks etc take 4 months to repair the clock they did not clearly describe what their recommendations on repairs would mean. The charge to replace the clock movement was more than I could afford so they recommended a battery powered movement. What they did not tell me was that the clock would no longer make a tick tock sound nor would it ever chime again. My grandfather clock was returned to me no better than any silent wall clock. I am forever heart broken. read more
