I found this business/gentleman through yelp to see if he was capable of fixing my clock and it first it seemed like he was knowledgeable in what he was doing. He had the clock for over three months and when he returned at the clock it literally worked for about 10 hours before it started stopping. He says his work is guaranteed for a year but when I called about the issue, he came over only once and fiddled around with the clock for approximately 5-10 minutes and said call him if that doesn't fix it. Well of course what ever he did to "fix" the clock did not solve the problem and now the chimes are not even working. I just think this was way above his current ability to repair this clock. It's unfortunate. He just didn't say that upfront and trying instead tried to act like he was all knowledgeable ..too bad. Would not recommend, does not stand behind his work/words .. I've called him three times now about the clock stopping and the chimes not working and he's never returned my calls. Time to move on I believe...you have been warned! read more

As a bonus, most of his work is done on your premises. That might not sound important, but with antique clocks, getting them running well each time they are transported can be a bit of an ordeal. The other clock he did have to take with him, but brought it back well and happy. No, it's is not inexpensive. Jonathan is wonderful . We have had our grandfather clock in our family for over 150 years and it needed some attention : It was not winding the weights up properly and the moonphase was not working . Also the chimes were not working correctly . He came out and personally disassembled our clock and a few weeks later reassembled it . Everything now works perfectly including the moonphase . We have a Seth Thomas mantle clock my mother bought my father for their first Christmas. 65 years later it needed help. I tried a place in San Leandro with a grumpy clockmaker who kept it for four months and didn't really fix it. Found Jonathan on Yelp. He came to the house. Saw he had to take the clock to fix it. Gave an estimate (which was also the final cost). Brought it back as promised. He is friendly, knowledgeable, and competent. Though the clock probably cost more to fix than to buy a new one, it is (as Jonathan said) "an old friend." Highly recommended. read more

We have a very old grandfather clock that has been in my husband's family for many years. It was shipped from the east coast several years ago in need of some challenging repairs. We took it to a clock "repair" shop in Livermore that turned into a miserable experience (he kept the clock for 2 years, basically did poor quality work and charged us $800 and it never worked properly). I inherited a grandfather clock from my grandparents which was shipped to me with all of the insides taken out and in a box. I knew that the clock had been in my family since the 20's and was excited about the prospect of having it in my own home ringing on the hour like in my grandparents' house for as long as i can remember. However, I opened the box and realized quickly that I probably shouldn't touch anything and that i needed help putting the pieces back together again by a professional. After scouring yelp for clock repair shops and making a few calls I stumbled upon Jonathan who was willing to drive out to my house and help me. After taking a look at all of the pieces and realizing that my grandfather was a "mr. fix-it" he recommended that I have some work done on the clock so that it would run properly and sound the way it should (it sounded pretty sickly...). So the initial visit was free and a week or so later (after a bit of phone tag) he drove out again and put my lovely clock back together again. Jonathan showed me how the clock worked and gave me some tips to make sure the clock will stay running for many years to come. We have a 120 year old Grandfather clock that needed attention, as it would stop ticking for an unknown reason without any pattern. We knew NOT to contact Danville Clock from all of the poor reviews. We contacted Tick Tock in Walnut Creek, based on the yelp reviews, and a young man came to our home and basically told us that our clock needed a complete rebuild and that he had never seen such a complicated clock before. (Our clock was rebuilt 6 years ago and the workings still look brand new). Hmmm... Not a good response. We then contacted Canyon Mobile Clock Services (next on the yelp review list), and Jonathan came to our home with a small cigar box of tiny old tools. He studied our old clock, and tinkered here and there, and lubricated here and there, and after a couple of hours, he said, "Fixed. Call me if the problem recurs."
