Excuse after excuse. This is just a sample of Richard's business practices.

I didn't want to do this but I feel I have to warn others. This business owner is dishonest. I retained him in February 2025. He actually came to our home to repair our grandfather clock. He said we needed some parts. He would source them and be in touch. We paid him $80 by Zelle. This is when it all got very strange. My bank contacted me weeks later and said The Watch Repair Guy never accepted my Zelle payment. I'd never heard of this before. After using Zelle ever since it first started. Once you send a payment, that's it. It's done. Apparently sometimes it requires the receiver to somehow accept the payment. According to Wells Fargo. Being an honest person I contacted Richard right away and notified him of the issue. I offered to send the money again or bring him cash. As I expect to pay for the services I receive. He said, not to worry. I can pay him when he finishes the job. He added that he's extremely busy and would be in touch. I'll add that every time I've ever communicated with Richard, he always says he's extremely busy and it's not a good time to talk, text or work. Well after months of not hearing back, I reached out again to follow up. Asking if he would indeed return to fix our clock, please? He never returned. He never called or texted back. It's now almost September 2025. I think we've waited long enough. This person told me multiple lies. I accept Zelle payment. I found the pieces for your clock. I will return. I will fix your clock. I will contact you back. Recently I was referred to a watch repair person. I texted them. Only to realize I had texted Richard again. After sending the text and seeing the number was already in my contacts. He first replied, I'm too busy to speak now. Then I told him who we are and were already expecting a call back from him. Months ago. Needless to say, we never heard back again. It's enough to make one feel crazy. If you enjoy wasting lots of your precious time, this is the guy for you. If you like being lied to and led on for many many months, you have found the right business. If you like feeling absolutely baffled and left wondering why you can't pay someone to finish what they've started, you'll enjoy working with Richard. I cannot understand what would make anyone operate their business this way. But you can go down to Bill's Ace Hardware in Concord and ask Richard yourself if you are genuinely curious.I prefer to get things done and keep it moving. Thank you Richard, it's been a valuable lesson.

Came to The Watch Repaid Guy, his name is Richard, to have a battery replaced and a link taken off my band. The battery exchange was so fast and seamless. He was not able to remove a link from the band due to it being the last link the hold on the clasp, but he explained that to me and I was very happy with the overall service and quickness. Took him less than 10 minutes and very reasonable pricing! Would recommend! He even set the correct time for me!

I want to echo the negative reviews. I've been coming here for several years, I've bought wall…read moreclocks from him as well two floor clocks and had floor and many wall clocks serviced by Joe, and on more than one occasion I've dealt with Joe's attitude. He seems entitled and tell you what he thinks is a fair price. Really? The last time was the last time. I'd left the mechanical guts of a clock with him to be repaired while the chassis was being fixed by a woodcraftsman. This was the poor victim of a shipping fiasco by someone who had no business selling clocks. At the same time I "sold" two wall clocks to Joe that in exchange he would credit $100 toward the repair of the clock in question. Well, after several months, the woodcraftsman could not get around to repairing the chassis due to illness so I told Joe to toss the mechanical guts. He indicated they were really beyond repair anyway. Because the first clock could not be fixed due to the aforementioned woodcraftsman, I bought another and asked Joe to tune it up. At the same time, I brought in another clock and asked if he was interested in it. At first he offered $50, then $75. I told him no and left, but he followed me to my car and then offered $100 toward the second repair. I accepted it only because I knew he already owed me $100 toward the first repair which never happened. So I'd get $200 off the repair of the second clock. But on the claim tag, he noted only the price minus $100, which I planned to bring up with him when I came to pick up the second clock. Well, to my surprise, he could not remember the other two clocks I'd left with him. He asked where were they and I said they were in his possession, how would I know where he put them? Then when I described them and he suddenly remembered, he made a comment about not charging me storage fees for the first clock he'd held onto while I was waiting for the chassis to be repaired implying as if him dismissing the other $100 he owed me would be in exchange for the storage fees. Really? I explained to him it was not my fault the woodcraftsman could not repair the chassis of the first clock and insisted he credit $200 toward the repair, which he declined and argued with he and made some comment about me quibbling over $100. Really? He had three clocks of mine that were worth much more than $200, and yet I let him have them because I knew he'd either fix them and send them to a new home or use them for parts. He had the nerve to insist that the first $100 credit could only be put toward the repair of the first clock. Really? So, I asked him to give me back the two clocks that I'd left with him previously. He no longer had them. He had no response, other than to honor the first $100 credit, but rescind his offer on the additional $100 and give me the third clock back in spite. I left with him shaking his head in disgust and reprimanding me? Really? What the heck is this guy's problem? As others have noted, he seems perpetually angry. And greedy! And when I questioned the repair of the second clock because the pendulum bob was sitting too high in the cabinet and there was too much thread of the rod exposed, he told me I should worry about more important things. Really? Who the heck does this guy think he is talking to customers like this? Instead, stop taking the cheaper and lazy route and fix the clock as it was meant to be fixed with the pendulum bob sitting in the right position. He charged me several hundred dollars for this shoddy repair! Disgraceful! If anyone should be disgusted, it is me. His customer service is deplorable. He gets too personal and treats you like a child. Shame on you, Joe! I'll be taking my business elsewhere from now on!

John helped us resize a watch very quickly and also changed the batteries right away. Everything…read morewas done with great quality, fast and at a fair price. They were polite and very helpful. I really liked that this is a local family business with an honest and friendly approach. I know what I am talking about because last time we went to another place near home for the same work on another watch and it was more expensive with worse service and quality. That is why I would rather drive ten minutes here and get the job done right.
