Old-town small business service is what you get here... you're greeted immediately and direct you to area that your looking for. It's stocked pretty well with assortment of things folks look for in a small hardware store just as if they knew you were coming. They make keys too even the electronic ones can be ordered. I bought 8 individual bolts and spacers for a table leg I was repairing. I only needed 2 spacers and bolts and tried to return the unused pieces. On the receipt, it says, " No returns/exchanges only on nut/bolt bulk items." The guy who helped us find the items was also the same guy I talked to when I tried to return the items. He said, " I know it doesn't say it anywhere when you walk in, but it does say it in the aisle. I've done business here before, but believe me, I will not spend any more money to support this local hardware store. I will gladly go to Lowes, and I'll also direct others to Lowes. I'm all for supporting the little guy over big corporations but not with return policies like this. read more

The gentleman that assisted me, suggested different ones, and we found just the right one. He also helped me pick out a lock for my scooter. I went to Lowes for mailbox numbers. I was waiting around for what seemed a very long time. Between needing help finding items and then finally flagging an associate down, I stood around about 20 minutes. I finally got so frustrated I looked to find a nearby hardware store, which this place is. I was immediately greeted by Jessica. She amazingly helped this new plant mom understand the basics of caring for a plant. She explained things so plainly that the newest plant parent (like me) will feel better about taking on this responsibility. Its obvious she is knowledgable in that area and enjoys teaching others. In addition the clerk at the register was just as friendly. I was so pleased with the layout and ease of navigating the front of the store. However, I didn't go past the aisle in front of the register so I can't give a thorough review of the store. But the two items I needed were easily accessible. I no longer plan on spending my money at Lowes or Home Depot. Clinton's Hardware is worth the commute for it's customer service! read more

I have been going to this store for years. Customer service is excellent. I needed a part for my air conditioner during a record heat wave. The guys at the store talked us through the process and explained safety measures we needed to take. Clinton Hardware had the part in the store, unlike the big box stores where it had to be ordered online. With their coaching and about $35 for the part we had a functioning air conditioner in about 15 minutes. read more

Hidden treasure-Clinton Hardware This store has that now lost small hometown feel, professional expertise and friendly customer service that box stores just can't provide. Clinton Hardware staff are very familiar with household maintenance issues, the products they sell, they will actually show or walk customers through how to use items before leaving the store and patiently give advice when you get home and call back with a question. My experiences have primarily been during the winter when local box stores have sold out of shovels, ice salt, space heaters and similar products or equipment. Hello, I've found my hardware store for both new & old items. Some things may cost a little more than say Lowe's or Home Depot but, the service you receive and this has the feeling of walking into that corner store. They have some items you don't see in the other stores. We roamed through the store purchased our stuff and will return definitely. And the lady up front at the counter took me back to the days of my grandmother in her politeness. I asked a question she wasn't sure of & told me "baby wait ah sec". This is a smallish hardware store that reminds me of the mom-and-pop hardware stores that used to be common in this area (before the national chain stores forced them out of business.) I go here to buy tools and supplies for my craft projects. This is the only place in a 20 mile radius that sells Dremel bits and a version of Magic Tool (a plastic substance you dip pliers into to prevent them from marring metal surfaces.) If an item is out of stock or is not regularly stocked, they will order it for you. I've also purchased non-craft items like garden and lawn care supplies. The store looks small, but there are lots of items crammed into it. So take your time and browse. read more

After stumbling through the larger stores looking for employees to help with parts, tools, paint, etc., it was a very rewarding experience to visit Clinton Hardware recently. I was greeted at the door and directed to the appropriate employee, to assist me with replacing an auto key and remote. David matched and configured the key quickly and efficiently. He provided a lot of information about the process and fully tested the key and remote before checkout. Jennifer handled the purchase and was friendly and accurate as well. The personal service I received that day made me decide to return because the store sells a lot of products that I can use and the prices are very reasonable. read more
