Love this bar for an after work happy hour. So much space to accommodate large teams and the prices were decent especially during the happy hour from 4-6pm on weekdays. Food was decent, loved the fries! They allowed us to multiple cards down and everyone had a great time. It was trivia night when we went so we didn't entertain ourselves with the board games but it was nice to know they were there in case people got bored. read more

I like the decor and the fun games everywhere. The service was odd. We were seated in a back area (around 5 o'clock) and warned that there was to be a party in that space at 9. We promised to be long gone by then. After we got our drinks, a different server came up and told us we had to move. Ok, no biggie. We ate, then could not find our server to close out our check. My husband ended up just paying at the bar. I have eaten an inordinate amount of bar snacks in my day. Both of our choices were 'meh'. Disclaimer: I only come to Clinton Hall for the Trivia! Trivia is fun and pretty well hosted here! I usually get here 15-20 mins before 7pm to claim a table since they can get full depending on the week. Food and drinks are pretty standard bar food and drink options. I came here for a holiday work event. The service could've been much better. For the work event we had platters of popcorn chicken, fries and sliders. I didn't like the fried or aka popcorn chicken too much. Even my colleagues all stated the same. However, the fries were great though. I didn't try their cocktails as I don't drink alcohol, but I did try their mocktails. The mocktails were great one was with cucumbers and the other strawberries. Came here for trivia night with colleagues and it was overall a good time. There was about 10 of us, so I was ordering for the table, which included the Jenga Mozzarella Sticks ($16), Nachos el Grande ($16) and a Fry-Cuterie Plate ($30), which consisted of a sampling of all of the fried food. Everything tasted great, but who doesn't like fried food anyways? I've also had some of their cocktails, which included the Espresso Martini ($15), which I ended up ordering three of these, and the Summer Old Fashioned ($15). This is a smallish beer hall located on the east side in the 50s. They have an area up front for parties and they have a tv in this section. They have other tvs through out the place. There is a pretty good beer selection here. Fun place to come with a group to catch a game or just to hang out. They also have board games for us to play. Some are jenga, connect four and others. I always forget how great Clinton Hall is for casual gatherings of indeterminate numbers of people, where folks can come and go as they please. The bar food is everything I want in an American bar, and you can't go wrong with the delicious Nachos, served on a platter so huge it easily feeds 4-5. The drinks run from ~$6 for beers, to ~$10 for wine, to ~$17 for cocktails. And of course, geriatric millennials like me get to unleash our inner pre-2000 kid, when we played with analogue things like board games, skee ball, Jenga, and rubik's cubes. If you want some unique food with some fun games too, come to Clinton Hall. I went to the Midtown East location and I had a burger I've never tried before. Fondue Burger! It's an unconventional Cheeseburger that is on a pretzel bun with molten fondue cheese and French fries. I was in heaven . That fondue cheese was so flavorful and really elevated the burger along with the Crispy fries. Great place to go with a group as they have board games like Connect 4, Jenga etc. read more

Great spot with lots of board/card games and a good selection of beers. Also, can't beat 50cent wings on Football Sundays - but would be better if they actually put the football games on the TVs. First Impressions: WTF?? How have I never been here before?? Delicious bar food AND games?? Found out about this spot from a friend that lives close by at the Tongan Embassy... so glad we came here. The tables are "family style" or picnic style so you can spread out your games to play while you eat. We ordered a ton of food and played Jenga. It was like being at home... except this place is wayyyy bigger than my apartment lol. Also plenty of TVs if you wanna watch the game or whatever too. The Noms: Food was typical bar food fare. Still really good. We ordered a few orders each of wings (spicy and well coated with sauce), waffle fries drizzled with a cheese sauce (that as gone very quickly and a childhood favorite!), mozz sticks (a bit too dense for me, but I liked the breading) and a few chicken burgers with regular fries. When you're eating with a few Tongans... you know there has to be a LOT of food on the table. The food was all super good, really homey and comfort food feeling... which is expected with all the salty, fatty, fried foods we ordered. I felt full but energized to keep playing board games for a few hours. It was really fun. Also ordered a few drinks too. Can't remember the names, but they were good as well. In Conclusion: This spot was so fun and the food was good. Plenty of things to keep you entertained. Though I went with a group of friends, I think this would be a fun date night spot too. Great place for a super chill and casual night of games and burgers with friends! Although slightly loud, it was manageable to get a whole table to ourselves and there are so many available card games and jenga bricks to play with. If you come between the hours 3-7pm, there's a happy hour menu with $6 drafts and $8 Korean fried tenders, buffalo cauliflowers and fries. Pretty worth it! For food, I really enjoyed the classic burger with fries! They have a secret sauce that gives the burger that special flavor. I'll preface this by saying that this place came highly recommended by a friend, especially the grilled cheese and tomato soup. So while I was on vacation from Hawaii, I told my family I needed to find this place and try it. Finally found this place at 3pm after walking a half mile from the subway. The ambiance was actually more upbeat than I thought it would be. Wasn't too crowded so we got a table right away. The girl (who we'll keep anonymous, for now) told us they have a brunch menu and that we can view the menu via QR. So they have an ALL-DAY menu which the grilled cheese dish is on. Unfortunately, she said it wasn't available till 4pm on their DINNER MENU. Strike 1. So we ordered a couple of burgers and drinks. Nothing special, I could've had regular burgers in Hawaii, so I was a little more agitated. 3:35pm, I asked the girl if the kitchen can make an exception and order the grilled cheese dish early since we traveled from Hawaii. Without asking, she said no. But at 3:50, another girl brought us the ALL DAY menu. So I asked the girl if we can order it now, she said sure, and we're so lucky that it's the LAST ONE! *scratches head. So after almost an hour of being, I was finally going to get the grilled cheese donut that they hang over a pot of tomato soup. Not to mention, it was the last one! Now she brings it to the table, it looks amazing! Then she BANGS the plate down on the table and half the donut falls into the soup. STRIKE 2! After starting at it, she asks if we want her to take it back and have them redo it. I said sure. We waited an hour. What's another 15 minutes. It finally comes out AGAIN, and it's on a separate dish NEXT to the pot of soup. She says they did it to prevent it from falling again. So I said isn't that the whole presentation? She said she didn't want another accident. STRIKE 3. Btw, it wasn't great and the tomato soup was COLD. To top off the horrible experience, after the check came, I held it at the table while I went to the restroom. When I got back I was confronted by the girl and asked if she did something wrong to deserve a $6 tip. I reiterated that I traveled from Hawaii for the grilled cheese dish and she dropped it. But she still didn't think she did anything wrong. I want about to let this experience ruin my vacation. Onto the next!!! Dave & Busters is a MUCH better choice btw LOL! read more

Recently organized a work event here. They were not the most responsive, but the event did end up working out without many issues so that was good. The area we got for 15 people was a bit small and not secluded in a private room like I had expected, but that was fine. Our server was not the best as he messed up my order when I ordered a #3 Silence of the Jams he brought me a #2. When I tried to tell him it didn't taste like a sour he assured me that he got my order right but I persisted and he realized that he was wrong. What's worse is that he apparently did the exact same thing to another person in my party as well, bringing a #2 when my colleague asked for a #3. The food was actually surprisingly good. We were doing a luncheon here and the place was empty most of the time. The tables are bolted down so we were separated into 3 groups. The menu has a variety to pick from but not a lot. I went for the oddball Fondue Burger with bacon as an add-on. The Fondue Burger came in a cool presentation with the fondue in a small pot and the burger with a hole in the bun with fries poking out. It was surprisingly good, the cheese was more like the cheddar you use on a Philly Cheese Steak, crispy nongreasy fries, and a toasted pretzel bun. I cut my burger in half and dipped it, pouring the fondue on top would have created a mess. One drawback though was the skimpy bacon, not worth the extra $4. I don't drink so I didn't do any of the beers specialty beers they have on hand. read more

Stumbled upon this place and so glad we did! Fun atmosphere with all the games at the tables (as well as skee ball and a toy claw machine). Delicious food, good prices, and friendly service. And free postcards if you want to tell a friend about the place! When I left my first job way back when, the group of people that started working with me and I had a reunion here. It just opened back then and it was the best location because it was close to everyone's new/ current job. This place is where you can casually grab drinks and play board games. We didn't play games then, but we ate a bunch of food. I remember I really adored the soft pretzels. I went here recently with someone and this time we played games. Two rounds of guess who and two rounds of that thing where you roll balls up into holes. The drinks here overall are above average compared to a normal dive bar. The staff is nice and it is a good place to casually hang out with people. If you are a competitive person like I am, I would not recommend this place for a first date. I can see how people would go here after work for happy hour and to bond since it is located close to all these banks, law firms, and other "midtown uniform" like firms. read more

I live in the neighborhood and walk by Clinton Hall often. I decided to take my parents who were visiting here for a quick lunch before we headed to a broadway show. When we got there, the place was empty besides a party of about 24 in the back that had people periodically trickling in. We arrived around 1:20 PM and ordered shortly after. The drinks were cold and great and it was off to a great start! However, as time went on, it was close to 2:15 PM when we finally got our food. I ordered the Avocado Toast Benedict which is marketed to have poached eggs and a hollandaise sauce. When the plate arrived, it was cold and the eggs were fried, not poached and there was no hollandaise. I sent back the dish and said I did not have time to wait for another dish and ended up picking off of my parents' plates. I never had a meal of my own nor was I offered anything. Our waiter was very nice but not once did a manager come over to speak with us nor apologize. Also, the bartender lurked around our table and did not say one word to us but had no issue listening to us talk amongst ourselves regarding the issue. We were not offered anything and paid close to $100 for an incomplete and inconsiderate meal. Our waiter was sweet and handed us a $10 off card, if we decide to come back but like why would we???? If they cannot handle having their restaurant open while also hosting an event, that is not my problem. It was ridiculous to be served the dish that I was given and it was insulting to think that they tried to pass that off as their dish on the menu. It is an absolute shame because the drinks are good and the place is cute but their customer service is HORRIBLE. read more

Awesome happy hour spot with lots of energy and music. Younger crowd here for sure when I visited with corworkers one Thurs night. I came around 5:30pm to grab a table and this place was already pretty packed. They didn't have all the cocktails on the happy hour menu so I opted for my second choice - margarita. Then proceeded to drink several more beers throughout the course of happy hour. We also took advantage of the happy hour apps but also ordered from their regular menu for apps. The chips and guac was good, chicken quesadilla was good, the pretzel was good, and the buffalo cauliflower was also very good. We visited this place after watching one of those network shows where the guy visits weird places or places that serve unusual foods. By coincidence we were in the area. When we entered, the restaurant was jammed packed due to a major sporting event on tv. There wasn't that big of a problem finding a seat however, we were sharing a table with another group. The tables are picnic style, rectangular and very long with bench style seats. Sharing was not an issue. This locale was full of excitement and energy; a great place to watch sports. As far as the food goes...unique and captivating. Starting with buffalo cauliflower (really good and recommended) moving to the fondue burger (burger with the center cut out with fries and a pot of cheese that can be poured into the center of the burger - not as good as I hoped). While I am still yearning to dabble in their famed food menu, I happened to arrive late to a colleague's last day(ish) post-work drinks (...Elite event), so missed out on the food the table had ordered. Either way, they do have a damn fine craft beer menu, with about 20 different offerings, ranging from pretty local/small to imports. Service can seemingly vary between server and the amount of fellow patrons (was a Monday night), so sometimes 'ordering in advance' is a good idea. The atmosphere is also pretty fun - long tables, but with plenty of board games and oversize Jenga blocks (note: this could prove to be a hazard if you're situated close to the action and your drinking patrons get ballsy their architectural decisions). Solid craft beer selection, enticing menu, decently-sized that you don't have blitz through rows of bar-hoarders to get a drink, and within reasonable proximity from work.
