Two employees total, checking everyone in, verifying insurance, and doing all the lab work. The waits are long.

I went to this location off of Durango & Flamingo for my 1st time today. I am one of those people…read morewho dreads lab work for my fear of needles and I can't even put into words the anxiety I suffer when having to have blood drawn. After having just left my morning Dr appointment where they had already drawn blood from me and taken 5 tubes from my right arm, I headed over to Quest for more blood to be drawn only 30 minutes after leaving my first appointment because Mondays are my only days off work so I wanted to get as much done medically as I could. Also, I had already been fasting this morning so I said might as well get it all done. I had NO IDEA WHAT SO EVER that after having just given 5 tubes prior to walking into Quest that I would be giving another TEN TUBES of blood. And we aren't talking the small tubes either. So you can only imagine the anxiety I was feeling while sitting there trying to play it cool inside. I'm SO THANKFUL to have been lucky enough to sit in Laurens chair for this appointment. LAUREN IS THE BEST when it came to my experience there today. Her calm and kind demeanor was so soothing through the entire experience from start to finish. She could probably clearly see I was extremely nervous. She treated me like I was her own family member. She was so gentle and patient. When I asked her to draw the blood from my left arm since I was still taped up on my right arm from the blood drawn 30 min prior to walking in to Quest she was like "sure no problem" but during our 10 tube blood draw my vein stopped producing blood after like 5 tubes, and so we switched to the other arm which was already stuck 30 min prior from my 1st medical appointment. I hid the fear of getting stuck again in the same vein because the 1st girl that stuck me at my prior appt had really hurt me, but Lauren showed no concern as to her ability to successfully draw blood again going slightly above the prior needle prick. I looked away as I always do when they slide the needle in and honestly, I was scared AF at even the thought of going in that vein for the 2nd time today. I poop you not, Lauren was able to insert the needle without me even feeling the slightest prick. I couldn't believe it. Everything about Lauren was a god send. Quest Diagnostics should thank their lucky stars to have Lauren in their practice. Seriously, they are lucky to have her. And for everyone else's sake, you should hope you are lucky to sit in Laurens chair as well. She truly is something so special and so different than all the rest. In my head I adopted her right then and there as my universal sister and I'll specifically request Lauren be the one I see each and every time I schedule an appointment here. Thank you Lauren for your kind and compassionate demeanor and for making me feel so respected and cared for today. You're the breath of fresh air I've needed in Vegas's less than par medical care. The Oakey location is very far, add traffic and the road work, it's a bad commute. I made my annual appointment, via telephone. I made my appt with Quest too, except it wasn't ordered, I didn't find out, until I called back, because the new doctor wanted to establish the relationship first. So, I cancelled my Quest appt. Hubby was the one who told me to call SMA again, since he, too, got conflicting information regarding blood work. I was getting text messages reminding me about my appointment. YOu can also check in via the text message, too. The parking lot was not bad. Yesterday afternoon, 4 pm, was my appointment. I was advised to get there at 3:45 pm. If this visit results in another appointment referral, there is a charge, otherwise this is a well check and is a covered service. The inside, like the waiting room, was not bad, either. Security Guard present. Lots of staff wearing masks. I checked in with the nice lady at the counter. I sat in the waiting room, not long, before I was called back. My vitals (weight, BP, pulse, temp, etc.) were taken after I answered all of the nurse's questions. Everything looked good. The provider came in and she went over a few things in my history. Has to backtrack on the old system to check out a few things, because the new system doesn't go back five years. Checked my breathing. Also ordered blood work and scheduled next year's appointment too. Suggested a couple of Vaccines. I've never had the Flu vaccine, but I am not sickness-prone either. Reiterated the role of diet and exercise. Told her that everything has been scheduled, OB/Gyn & Cardiologist- both in April. And also reminded me of a Vision appt, which I told her was this past October.

There are a good amount of chairs on the perimeter of the waiting room, but they do fill quickly. The entrance is tucked around the corner against the wall. When you walk in, go straight to the kiosk to check-in with your photo ID and insurance card. I've seen elders struggle with the technology and the front desk will still send them back to the kiosk. If they push enough, MAYBE they'll manually check them in or assist with the kiosk. Once in the back, I've never come across a mean or unprofessional phlebotomist. I'm a hard stick and all have been great, sometimes even switching to a butterfly needle when I have a lot of samples to accrue. It's my go-to place, especially because it's near my home. As long as you know the entrance and to use the kiosk, all will flow fine. Have your order paperwork ready always! That's every location, but I've had incidents where my doctor's office said they sent it in and LabCorp wasn't able to see it on their side so better safe than sorry.

When I first walked in, I handed the front desk lady my paperwork and was told I needed to fill out the registration. I asked where to do that, and apparently the registration was on an upright iPad near the front. Silly me for missing it. A lot of the people in the waiting room noticed how rude the interaction felt, and several people even commented to me about it afterward. I honestly tried to give grace because she may have been stressed or overwhelmed, and I know healthcare can be difficult. But the reason I'm writing this review is because of Dana, the blonde phlebotomist in the back. She was absolutely wonderful. I hadn't had much water that morning because of an earlier appointment, so finding a vein was a little difficult, but Dana stayed patient, calm, kind, and professional the entire time. She talked with me, joked around a little to help me relax, asked how my day was going, and truly made the whole experience better. Dana has such a beautiful soul and gave me one of the best experiences I've ever had getting blood drawn. Employees like her deserve recognition because they genuinely make a difference in people's days. So while the front experience may not have been ideal, Dana completely turned it around for me. God bless you, Dana -- thank you for your kindness and for making my day better.

Not only that, but she disguised it as if this was a service offered by my doctor's office (unrelated practice on the same floor). She TOLD me, that she would PULL MY PERSONAL CONTACT INFORMATION FROM MY CHART without ANY prior consent, in order to set up a consultation with her. Absolutely disgusted, because who KNOWS how many unsuspecting patients she's done this to already. Grateful she chose to give her sales pitch to the wrong one on the morning of 08/06/26. The LABCORP manager was informed and has NOT followed up with me, or offered any resolution or apology. From my understanding, the tech is still actively employed. The location was reported to the US Dept of Health & Human Services & OCR regarding violating HIPAA.
