Finding this place is almost as hard as climbing up the wall for the first time. It's waaaay in the back of a business zone so keep an eye out for the signs that guide you towards the door. Once inside, you will be able to rent/buy any equipment that will get you (safely) up the walls. It had been a long time since I climbed so I did take the quick belay course $6 and was climbing up the wall in no time. If you just want to climb on the shorter walls (called bouldering) you will not need to have a harness or take the class. You will need to buy a day pass $10 or some other membership. Shoe rental is $4 and I skipped that as I did it in a pair of vibram five fingers shoes. The only other cost for rope climbing is for a harness ($4). So, for either $20 or 24 you can find yourself climbing up one of the various walls, each with its own unique challenge. Some of the walls are really difficult and some are just difficult enough that you will feel really proud of yourself if you can reach the top. And pay no attention to those around you that scale the walls like spiders, they were just like you once. The vibe is really chill and people are friendly and able to offer advice if you need it. I recommend taking breaks every once in a while so that your arms can rest and watch other climbers. My best tip is to use your legs, they are much stronger than your arms and will really get you up the wall. Climbing is very challenging and I really find it both frustrating and rewarding. I really want to be selfish about this place because I love it so much. But.... people need to know how awesome Climbtime is. They have the option of using a harness or just boulder climb. (Sorry climbing experts if I am using the wrong terms). They do provide shoes for anyone that needs them and uses sanitary spray after every use. The staff there is very friendly and want everyone to have a great time. The actual walls of the hand and foot holds are awesome! They have "lines" for beginners and experts. They change them up regularly but right now it is pretty sweet. They have lines for us short people too! I absolutely love this place but it does get crowded some days and just have to bare with it. The patrons there are very friendly just be nice and respectful of the crash mats. Price is pretty affordable too! read more

There aren't many places to climb/boulder in Cincinnati and climb time is the only place I've actually felt comfortable. Yes, the other places are newer looking but this place has such a homey feel to it. CTOBA is where I fell in love with bouldering. I've found a good community that push me to climb my hardest. The front desk staff are always super nice and encouraging. They always greet me with a smile and they know my name! I feel like that's incredibly important. I struggle with moderate to severe social anxiety and the fact that I can climb here by myself with minimal fear says a lot. :) read more

This is really such a great place to climb. They have a non-judgement vibe, but tons of great climbers participate! I've came here several times in the last year, and I really enjoy simply bouldering. I could not afford to come here often (being 15 for drop in rate, includes shoes). But once or twice a month is great! They do offer package deals if you plan on coming more often, or have your own shoes. Also, do not be afraid driving back... There are a lot of semis and it is kind of secluded, but it's not as sketchy as it can look! read more

A decent bouldering gym. Technically, one can top-rope there, but there isn't much point as the ropes span only one wall and the walls are fairly short. There is no leading. Most of the routes are too difficult for children or beginners, which sometimes makes it nice -- no competing with boyscouts for ropes -- but it still gets crowded. If you're used to slab or vertical or mildly overhung routes it will destroy your ego completely. Can you say overhang? Oh. my. abs. In some places they have crash pads as cushy as a moon walk; in others there are only small mattress-like pads that you have to drag around; in some places no pads are used. They have surprisingly few problems because of it. It is INCREDIBLY chalky. I fear for my lungs when I go there. And as far as I can tell, any teenager is permitted to set routes. The routes can be a bit wacky, but occasionally someone will get it right. Warning for the shy: the popular thing to do there is sit in couches in between climbs and watch the other climbers. People are pretty nice, though. Even the 13-year-olds who climb circles around me are good for encouragement and beta. read more

Would definitely look at other rock climbing facilities before coming back here. Process was quite confusing, environment was chaotic, and everything seemed to cost extra. I came for a child's birthday party--the biggest frustration is that you have to provide your own belayers, and if people are not trained they are required to pay $15+ to be trained for 5 minutes. One person in our group took longer to catch on to the knot tying and the employee gave up on him, told him she didn't feel comfortable certifying him to belay, yet still charged $15 for the incomplete training. I am confused how you could come and climb without bringing a partner to belay... Dress warm--this place is freezing, especially right after opening. read more

CT has crazy tall bouldering walls and brutal inclines. This place will make you strong fast. There's almost always a free wall or two if you just walk around the middle boulder, since people seem to cluster together. highballing with large crash pads is too much fun not to go! This place sets routes for strength as well as fun, but you'll get worn the F out FAST. they also sell shoes and gear, plus their day passes are the cheapest around. I love it. p.s. when you're heading up Kenwood Rd. there will be a small 1 story, orange/red brick office park area just after a fire-station. Yes, come here for bouldering. Visited from out of town. Staff was uber friendly. Explained bouldering safety and then set me loose. Had a pretty good go of it. Only able to send one or two routes out of the hundred or so there. Others had much more success. Incline/overhang started at 30, 45, 60+... Friendly atmosphere. Would return. read more

Not worth it, as a climbing gym, for various reasons: 1) The walls are SLICK. This is a result of painting over them several, several times. Nowhere will you climb, in reality, are surfaces as slick as these. They permit no purchase, whatsoever, and make a lot of the climbing hazardous. This makes chimney and crack climbing far less effective, permissible, or even intriguing to try. In short, it severely hampers natural climbing skill. 2) Their belay method. What moron sanctioned this belay method? They mandate that you use 'their' belay method, when in reality it's far more dangerous than the uber-effective SAS method. Their method of belay causes your center of gravity to be _over_ the belay device, easily causing you to be off balance and less able to safely belay your partner. In addition, this cause your face to be perilously close to the active belay rope, encouraging bizarre friction burns. Third, the body posture makes it non-ergonomic, causing spinal contortion to be able to _attempt_ to compensate for the off-set center of balance and keep an eye on the climber. 3) Staff are culturally insensitive. Apparently if you have a 'unique' name, they're surprised and don't know how to process this. They treated me like I was a non-English speaking immigrant with a low IQ. Worse? They did it _twice_. 4) Lots of spaces that are incomplete. It feels unfinished, and not in an effective 'neo-industrial' manner. 5) Underheated. The place is frigid, despite it being indoors. Really poor insulating and really ineffective heating. . .or they're just trying to be cheap on the heating. Poor heating does not inspire paying clients to stick around for long or want to return. 6) No lockers. Cubbies, which make any of your belongings free & up for grabs. Can we say easy field day for theft? Seriously, if you want to learn to wall (or even rock) climb, bypass this place and help put them out of business. Crappy climbing facilities don't deserve to subjugate you to a crappy introduction or crappy long-term experience. I write this, despite my initial walk-through that suggested that this would be a decent place. It's not. read more

We had a great time at CT last weekend. We learned to top-rope climb and attempted bouldering, but definitely want to go back soon to try again. Location: It's in the very back of a warehouse complex. The sign is hard to see from the road so you may have to turn around and backtrack to get there. Google maps and Apple maps will not take you directly there. Atmosphere: We came earlier in the day (around 11am). I would recommend coming at this time if you would like it to be quiet and are taking a certification class with one of the employees. There were only two people on staff and when it started getting busy they were scrambling to try and help customers learn how to climb and get them checked in for their equipment rental. It was freezing in there as well. I would recommend long sleeves. Climbing class: The class takes about 30 minutes and you learn how to properly tie the rope to your harness as well as the proper lingo to communicate with your partner. I think it's a great couples exercise because you MUST communicate whether you are climbing, coming down, or about to fall. It takes a lot of trust in your partner as well. What I didn't like is they just taught us the top rope climbing, but didn't explain anything about recommendations of routes or what is best for beginners or people trying to advance. Once the class was over, they basically just let us do our own thing, but there was no explanation of bouldering. They were happy to take our money and teach us how to climb and tell us how they are "primarily a bouldering" location, but no explanation of what bouldering is or why people do it. So we basically just watched others do it and asked questions until we had the guts to try it ourselves. There were advantages to just letting us venture on our own and we felt really confident by the time we left. Also, once the class was done we had the option to stay all day if we wanted to, but bouldering was pretty exhausting. The other nice thing is that now we are "certified" so we don't have to pay to learn how to do any of the climbing. We just pay for our use of the gym. Overall, I would definitely come back and really enjoyed the work out from bouldering. read more

Such a great time! I used to come here as a child for b-day parties and it was so much fun. They allow you to order food in, so great for a pizza party. They offer belaying and bouldering. They offer great day rates and shoe and harness rental. They also offer belaying lessons. The space is clean and offers restrooms and cubbies for your gear while you climb. Climb time is where I learned to climb, and have kept coming back ever since. The bouldering is pretty diverse in terms of height and route variety. The top roping is minimal and mainly used for teaching belay and parties. If you have climbed a decent amount in the past, it isn't worth your time. That is not really a problem though as this is primarily a BOULDERING gym. What really keeps me coming back is the exceptional staff and friendly environment. This is the kind of place that gets to know their regulars and calls them by name. The regulars are all super friendly and happy to talk to you or help you out if you need. All in all, this is a fantastic example of what a climbing gym should be. You don't need a state of the art facility. You only need a couple walls, plastic, and great people. read more

First time there - we had my daughter's 8th birthday party. The staff was very accommodating and helpful with the kids (we had 8 kids that were 8 or younger). You could tell it wasn't really a "kid friendly" gym but I think Patty and her crew went out of their way to show us the ropes, explain the rules and have a fun party for all. If you're having a group and want a place to eat/sit I would recommend reserving a table ($20 but well worth it) and if you have young kids go early in the day - we did a Sunday 1pm - 3pm and it was perfect. The big kids were filtering in as we were finishing up and it was getting pretty busy. I would definitely recommend Climb Time for a young climbing fans birthday party or group. read more

As a beginner, I enjoy the set up there. price is right and a good value if you like bouldering. i would only go during the day because of the chalk dust when it is busy. A box fan with a filter duct taped to it would take a lot of the chalk out of the air. That isnt expensive. I am surprised how chalky it is there. Absentee owner, I would guess. read more

Climb Time is a gym that I used to enjoy going to; however, the recent staff changes have had a extremely negative effect on the entire environment of the gym. First off, There are only a couple of setters who are actually experienced enough to be setting for a variety of skill levels. The head setter of the gym, in my opinion should not be the head setter. It is my opinion that the head setter of a gym should be able to climb above V5 CONSISTENTLY. Second, there are a couple of good staff members that really care about the gym, but it is my impression that the gym owner couldn't care less. Simple maintenance could be done to the gym to stop the ceiling from leaking during heavy rain storms, new holds could be ordered more often to keep up with competition in the growing climbing gym community. Some pluses about the gym is the training area, the few setters that actually know what they are doing, and if you have kids its a fine place to take your kids for their first time climbing or for a birthday party (which in my opinion is what the gym owner cares about the most because of the money parties bring in). Overall, I think the gym is in trouble right now with recent staff changes, a lack of good leadership skills by the head setter, the owner not doing simple maintenance updates- that could EASILY help the gym. Like I said earlier I liked climbing at climb time a lot in the past few years, but I have seen it go down hill considerably recently. read more

My family and I have been to climb time on several occasions and had a great time. A couple times were just for fun and the last time was January 2015 for my son birthday part. The price is right and the gym is the perfect environment for a bunch of boys( ranging in age from 5 to 11 years old) who like to have fun. The owners and staff have over 20 years of climbing experience and the belayers that were provided in the cost of the party made the kids feel safe and the parents feel comfortable. I'm very surprised at some of the recent posts on yelp regarding this establishment. I found the process very easy but we followed the directions to the letter. I guess if you didn't do that it might get a little chaotic but that would happen anywhere. Yes the gym is cold ( if you aren't climbing). My kids never once complained about the temperature. All in all this is a great place to go with your family and to have a birthday party. We will be back!!!!! read more
