My first bagel since being back in Jersey and the bagel itself was pretty good (crispy on the outside and soft and chewy inside) along w the scallion cream cheese. The things that dropped the rating down a bit was being overcharged for the bagel (posted it said $3.25 or something to that effect yet I was charged $4.65) in addition to the entire staff having zero personality and looking close to miserable. read more

I used to order from Clifton Bagels all the time, but after a bad experience, I won't be going back. I received the wrong sandwich and when I called, they told me that's how it's made--even though I ordered from their listed ingredients online. They refused to replace it unless I came in person, and I even overheard the employee complaining about me while I was still on the call. I was polite the whole time, but the customer service was really disappointing. Sad to say I can't recommend them anymore. read more

The bagels here are like NY Deli bagels...they're perfect! I feel like I've gone through the Lincoln Tunnel and stood on line at one of the best NY Bagel shops.. these are crisp on the outside and soft inside. My favorite is poppy seed with scallion cream cheese. You know they're good if I drive past two closer bagel shops to come to Clifton Bagels. They are quick and polite so it is pleasant to come shopping here. read more

Ah, nothing like being punched in the face by the odor of decades' worth of bacon sizzling to a charred petrifaction on the greasy grill when you enter a place with "BAGELS" in its name... always a sign that bagels are not the main emphasis. And that, fellow Yelpers, is so true here. But if you're stranded in Clifton and have a craving, this shall be your oasis, so check your order carefully before leaving (short attention spans reign supreme here). The bagels are OK, meaning they don't lose too much in transit from wherever they are cooked. The portions of nova are on the small side. The pickles... well, the pickles are good. So there, I said something nice. Coffee is average. This place does offer optimism: optimism that someone else will open a real bagel shop next door & give Cliftonites food they deserve. But before that, you must suffer. read more

I didn't try any bagels or breakfast from this place in over 8+ years when I worked near there. I was in the mood for a cheesesteak for lunch and was at the staples next door. They had a chicken cheesesteak "Philly" style. Bread was good and the taste of the chicken was not bad. However, I was highly disappointed in this "Philly" chicken cheesesteak. It was huge chunks/cuts of chicken instead of it being a shredded or chopped style. It was not super enjoyable. I rated them 3 stars and not lower because overall it didn't taste bad. I don't recommend getting this sandwich if you're expecting a Philly style. No where near a "Philly" read more

On my quest to try every bagel shop in NJ, I dropped by Clifton Bagels on Black Friday after an early trip to the Target right next door. Grabbed my usual: whole wheat everything with taylor ham, egg, and cheese with SPK and a dozen bagels and some cream cheese for the rest of my family at home. Service was great. Quick and prompt. It was pretty empty given the day, so I got what I needed in the time I expected. My sandwich was OK...I thought the bagel was a little dry and they'd forgotten the SPK on it. I usually give a spot a second and third chance before making any final, long-standing judgement so I will most likely head back to order another sandwich and give it a try. read more

Nice local bagel spot supported by Cliftoners. I ordered a bagel with butter and coffee. They mistakenly gave me the bagel with cream cheese. They immediately made another one with butter after I returned mine. Nothing foo Fu but good bagel spot if you know what you want. read more

This place used to be great and now it took a major nose dive....the owners have zero manners or personality. The workers have become unorganized due to owners constant micromanaging. Way too many other and better places to bother with this place go elsewhere. read more

We are in a pandemic!! The county might shut down for the second time!! I called them 27 times to put an order in so, I could just pick up my food. I go in there and looked at their phone, and it was off the hook. I saw about 6 people in there waiting to order, or get their food. I told one of the workers that I have been trying to put an order in and no one was picking up the phone. She replied, we are not taking phone orders. Mam, it is Sunday morning we are in a pandemic. Why do I have to wait on line to put my order in and wait for the food? Wouldn't it be easier to order my food over the phone? I ordered my food and decided to wait outside. 15 minutes later my food was ready and the phone was still off the hook. ‍ read more

Visited at the wrong time; Sunday around 11am. Be prepared for a wait. This place is small with a couple of tables. The staff is scrambling around and can get confused with the order at times. Food is good though! I got home fries and strawberry cream cheese on a bagel. A little over $7. Strawberry cream cheese on a bagel was more than egg and cheese on a bagel. Don't think I would come back. read more

Don't ever order from here unless you can wait 2 hours with multiple calls telling you it's on its way.

If you are looking for something in the morning on the go, and you are nearby, this place definitely works. They take orders quickly at the counter and will give your order of coffee while you wait for the rest of your order. I have to say that they do make me a pretty good "light and sweet" coffee. As for the bagels, they taste are not anything special, but when it's the morning and I'm in a rush to get to work, they taste good enough. I've gotten a couple of their sandwiches, with my favorite on-the-go being a Taylor ham, egg & cheese. There are actually times in the morning when there is a longer line, and it can get annoying if you are in a rush. It seems that when it's busy at the grill, your order will take much longer than it should be. However, you should be fine if you just get something such as a bagel with cream cheese, since that will not use the grill. What I can suggest is that if you seem to be always coming in when there is a longer line, call ahead a few minutes before you get there and your wait-time will be non-existent when you actually get there. Staff is very friendly and there are a few tables you can sit at if you have time in the morning to actually relax, read the paper, and eat. read more

Rating on the whole wheat everything with vegetable cream cheese... Toasted, served on a plate, veggie cream cheese was exceptional, fresh and loaded with veggies. Coffee was good, service was fine, no issues with this place despite the experience of others who may have had a former, less apt employee. Is it the best bagel I've ever had? Well, no, but it was great, and considering what your choices are on rt3 working here or shopping, I'm sure you'd agree, it is a good choice for this shopping center. Absolute garbage. Placed a very simple order of two bacon egg and cheese bagels. One on a wheat. One plain. Instead, I received two bacon and cheese bagels. One on a wheat. Can't say anything good about my experience here. Messed up my order to go & blamed me about it when I got home & my wife called about a missing item in our order. When we called to talk to a manager - their response was "no one here is in charge". As for the bagel that made it into the bag - just not good. Hate when they can't spread cream cheese on a bagel properly at a bagel store. Both the inside & outside of the bagel were way too hard. Lastly, the cashier told me $5 even but visibly only rang in $3. Just can't bring myself to go back to an establishment ran this way. read more

First time trying this place as I was in the area. I should have checked the reviews beforehand. I paid almost $4 for an everything bagel with egg cheese and bacon and ketchup. They forgot the ketchup as usual since no one listens anymore. The bagel I got looked more like a poppy seed bagel since that was the majority of what was on it. Very little cheese bacon and egg as seen in the pictures. Kinda pathetic . I'll give 2 stars since I feel sorry for the workers there. The Asian owner who was there with his head down looking at "the numbers" probably tells them to be "stingy" when making sandwiches. read more

This place is my go to for a simple all around good BLT. You would think such a simple sandwich can't be done wrong. Well Yelpers, I agree BUT most places I have tried in the neighborhood are most definitely not up to par. This place has it on lock down. Not to mention their coffee is so satisfying. It has quite a few tables inside, so eating in is a nice option. My only concern with this place is that the staff is constantly recycled.... Wth....makes me wonder if the owner is too difficult to work for which would be a kill switch for me.... but until then I will continue enjoying their BLTs..... BTW.... They normally close by 4 pm and they do have a wide selection on their menu. read more

I walked in and the place was in complete chaos. There were crowds of people waiting for their food. I observed that even people sitting at the tables didn't even have their food. I should of taken that as a sign to leave. Many people were disgruntled because they were waiting for over 15-20 minutes for their food. We orders a bagel with cream cheese and an bacon, egg and cheese. At most it should only take 10 minutes to prepare. After 20 minutes we noticed people who ordered ahead of us did not receive their food yet. We ended up walking out after failed attempts to get the cashiers attention. read more

I get to be first! We tried this place for lunch today because it was close by. The bagels were quite good, but it's really the deli food that's so noteworthy. It's about 2/3 (I was going to say half, but that's not quite accurate) the price of any other deli in the area, and the food is really great. Lunch specials, range from $4 to $6. I chose a chicken gyros sandwich with a side of pasta salad for $5. Delivery is also free. read more
