Worst service we have ever had anywhere. The waiter forgot to enter our food order and never apologized. We sat there for over an hour waiting. Waiter said it was because of a large party, but didn't remember if we ordered anything. He forgot he wrote down our order. The pub wasn't even busy. I was visiting Utah for my sisters wedding and we had her dinner rehearsal on Friday sept 27th at this restaurant. I ordered the salmon and the next morning at 3 am I woke up to being very sick from both ends. And for many many hours on the day of my sisters wedding. To top it off I wasn't the only one at the dinner rehearsal that got sick, I just got the worst of it!! My sister was very upset at this point so she emailed the restaurant and they totally dismissed what she said and didn't do much about this situation. We got an apology and they said that they checked everything and didn't see anything wrong. Well how do u check the day after if something went wrong!! Also the man that emailed my sister back said that food poisoning doesn't come for 48 hours after the poisoning but that is not true and anyone that has food poisoning knows this to be incorrect. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone accept maybe for the view. Staff was not very friendly and had little bit of an attitude. Many people from the party can contest to this. read more

Went with my family on a Saturday at around 5pm. We were sat very quickly but after the initial drink order we did not see our waitress again for over ten minutes. We ordered the wings first, which were ok, I ordered the Firebird Chicken. It was terrible, for a spicy dish it was very sweet and not spicy, even worse the pan fried noodles was just a semi-burned lump. It was like the cook had just dumped a prepackaged mass of noodles into a pan, didn't bother breaking it up and then just flipped it over like a pancake and cooked the other side. I couldn't even send it back because our waitress vanished again and didn't reappear for 20 mins. By that time I was to hungry and just ate what I could. The rest of my family did enjoy their dishes and said they were good. But between my terrible dish and the slow bad service I doubt I will ever want to go back. I had the prime rib flat bread, and it was the most amazing meal! From the Au juice, and the soft bread, with every topping, it was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend this for any occasion. I've been to this restaurant probably 6 times now. It's walking distance from my house so really convenient for dates. The food here is not good. And is extremely over priced for what you get. This most recent visit I ordered the calamari and it was almost inedible because of how chewy it was. I also ordered the steak and fries. The steak was bland and chewy. And the steak sat right on top of the fries and they were soggy. It really was terrible. And for a 40$ dish, you'd expect more than that. My date ordered a chicken Cesar salad and the chicken was so spicy he almost choked and had to send it back. And it tasted frozen on top of that! The pasta is also underwhelming. You can get better pasta at the Olive Garden. I will say the sushi is good! I would go back for that. I've gotten the butter cake dessert and it was good. The chocolate lava cake was dry! As far as service goes, it's always been good! However, This last time I dined, there was a large red lipstick stain on my water glass that was quite disgusting. They apologized and brought me a new glass. All in all, if you want good food, don't come here. But the bar side of the restaurant is worth going and enjoying the ambience and view. Maybe order a couple drinks and get a sushi roll. That's my best advice! read more

My family and I came in a couple of days ago for Mother's Day and our server Antonio was absolutely amazing. He knew we had been waiting for our reservation for quite some time (which wasn't an issue with us considering it was Mother's Day so obviously we knew it would be busy) The cliff is definitely our favorite spot in the valley for dining and drinks. Not only is the view incredible but so is the food and service. Considering how busy it was the service was fantastic. Food was very low grade, not fresh, not creative. But, we were willing to overlook the processed, poorly cooked and confusing menu, until they rudely kicked us out for staying 1.5 hours. We ate here last night with my parents on their last night with us on our road trip. They agreed that our dining experience was the perfect last evening together. We arrived shortly after 9 pm as the temperature was lowering, so we agreed to outdoor seating. The view, the lighting, and the ambience created an intimate and lovely setting to enjoy amazing food and conversation. My mom ordered the halibut which was perfectly grilled and served in an amazing reduction sauce. The table bread was actually worth eating, unlike most restaurants ' table bread. My daughter loved that our shared pasta dish wasn't too rich, but still quite flavorful. Our server Marc was both professional and engaging. As his last customers of the evening we enjoyed some talk about the region and the local food scene. Altogether, our experience was perfect and we'd go out of our way to return if our travels bring us back to the Salt Lake area. read more

Food and service are both meh. My husband and I showed up wanting a relaxing date night. We showed up and was told they couldn't seat us because it had been raining that day so they sent the majority of their staff home. We decided to wait for them to accommodate us anyway. The server we received treated us great despite the shortness in staff. However, because she was stretched so thin, we were waiting on her a lot. It was a management issue, not her. The food is a little overpriced for what you get. It's good but not THAT good. May come back and try again when they have full staff and a clear day to sit on the deck. read more

I went on Valentine's Day and it was a great atmosphere, we were really surprised with how nice it felt in there. My girlfriend had the sushi nachos and the steak pizza, both of which she really liked. I am gluten free and went with the hamburger on a GF bun, with sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries were INCREDIBLE, probably the best i've ever had. They are bigger wedges and the insides seem to be some kind of whipped sweet potato- so so good. Overall the hamburger was good, the bun was nice and toppings tasty, which helped make up for the otherwise unimpressive beef patties. Overall, nice little place that's worth checking out. read more

Sad thing about this place. Great food and great view but the service is terrible. Just Terrible service. I have been coming off and on for years. I live near here. Would come more often if service was better. Especially at the bar. The dining area is slightly better but still not up to par. Went Saturday 5/26/18 for brunch and was disappointed. Made reservations and asked for patio if possible. Arrived and was told no patio available even though it was half empty and stayed that way the whole time we were there. Benjamin our server was slow and awkward. Almost seemed afraid to come to the table and talk to us. Took 45 minutes for our food to come out and it was nice and cold. Maybe would have sent it back but didn't want to risk another 45 minutes and only saw Benjamin one more quick time before we were done so we really didn't have a chance even if we wanted to. Toast came out un-buttered and we were brought unusable frozen butter for it and our pancakes. Two stars because food had good flavor and would probably be real good if hot. Going to guess on the standard owners reply, off day, pride in quality, service and food, hope for another try. Sorry, won't be back, too many other choices and not worth the risk hoping it will be better next time. read more

LOVE the atmosphere and glad that the Cliff House is now open as the Cliff House Pub! I have had the sushi several times trying different rolls, however will not order sushi again. I have not tried any other food but the Flatbread and it was good, however food is a bit pricy. Also need more selection on the wine list, especially by the glass. Tonight was an amazing night being served by Janzen. Yes that's Janzen, exactly how it's spelled. Absolutely amazing service. Loved her aura and her willing to answer questions about certain meals. Our first visit to The Cliffs was on a Sunday where a brunch menu is served until 3pm. Even if you are hankering for lunch, they have a few lunch items (4-5) on the brunch menu. My husband ordered the grilled halibut fish tacos and a tall Blue Moon - he loved it! I ordered the Avocado Toast and a Bloody Mary- YUMMY!! Thick slices of wheat toast, poached eggs, tomato slices, prosciutto, arugula and shaved almonds is fabulous. The only reason I didn't give a five-star rating was due to slow service. I was looking forward to going to the Cliff after it reopened. Unfortunately the experience left much to be desired. The service was bad, our server was slow and not very friendly. The food was below average (I used to love the food there) and the prices are higher. When I spend $100 on a meal, I expect really, really delicious food. I really wanted to love this place because it's so close to my house, but I'll just head downtown next time. Like previous reviews have stated, the atmosphere and views are pretty much the only reason to go here. I'd love to try it again because I want to like it, but the prices make it hard to return without knowing if the food will be good. read more

This was the second time I've been and I will not be back. The first time I orderded the Cuban. It wasn't bad, but lacked texture and the traditional Cuban flavor. A traditional Cuban is typically a pressed sandwich with some crunch. This Cuban is served on a ciabatta and the "fried pickles", that might have redeemed it, were soggy as well. The mustard sauce really only added sweetness and not the tartness that I craved. I decided to come back today to give it a second chance. Not only did it take over 50 minutes to receive our food from the order time, but the food was cold and most people at the table got burnt food. I ordered the rueben. This tasted more like a smoked meat sandwich. Maybe it would be good with some good BBQ sauce, but not as a rueben. The bread was burnt on one side and soggy on the other. My nephew got pancakes that were burnt on one side and my mom also had crab cakes that were burnt. Overall not impressed by the prices vs the quality of food. Portions were also inconsistent from the last time and even from plate to plate. read more

Not even close to their previous list that included Trappistes Rochefort 8, or La Fin Du Monde, and other great labels you won't see outside of downtown Salt Lake. I liked finding good beers on the south side of the valley. Best beer now is Rogue's Dead Guy, which I like, but not at $9.00 against my card. They could have created something unique, an even better summer location -- instead it's just cheap and common. read more
