Christmas all year long
PJ C.

I had heard about this place from my wife for decades but never had any reason to go to Appleton until we ventured here for the Mile of Music event. While walking the main drag we made a detour into Cleo's. Wow what an eyeful! Great fun! We really loved the vibe. The bartenders were very friendly and quick. One of our group tried their famous Dirty Snowball which they liked alot. I tried the Jingle Juice and it was very tasty. The prices were not too bad considering what most bars are charging these days for something other than rail drinks. A must stop in Appleton!

Girls getaway weekend for Appleton's Octoberfest! We stopped by here Saturday night and what an absolutely fun night! Who couldn't have fun when there are Christmas lights and decorations everywhere along with patrons signing together songs playing in the bar The staff was so friendly and the service was amazingly fast considering how many people were there. Most of us had the dirty snowball and it was delicious What a wonderful place, Cleo's was the cherry on top of a fantastically fun weekend! Check it out!!

Love Cleo's! Great Old Fashions! Was one of my favorite "happy hours" when I was in college. Now, I go for the great drinks and the nostalgia of the "good old days". Not much has changed except there are a lot less decorations on the wall. (It has gone from extreme to maybe a little less extreme.... But still very interesting)! You got to check this place out! The best place to get a cocktail on College Avenue and the decorations are pretty funny.

Festive bar!

It feels like its Xmas time and how can one not be happy about that! How about large reasonable drinks. Oh, and what about happy and talkative patrons. Yes, and attentive bartenders that don't keep you waiting. Clean and updated retrostyle bar. Dirty snowballs are popular here. Lots of beer on tap. Full bar. Did I mention the large servings. Cash discount or pay 4% more to cover credit card fee. You are welcome.

Went on a whim due to being in area while traveling...it did not disappoint...loved the lights and vibe...and the bartender was super friendly and fun...would return if ever back in area

I absolutely loved Cleo's. I loved all the Christmas decorations and lighting. I loved the patrons who were so happy and friendly as I was from out of state and it was my first visit. The bartenders were fantastic and I met some of the Texans supportive team while I was there. Very friendly, great drinks, and I love the doorman.

If you love Christmas, this is your place. There's no shortage of twinkling lights and nutcrackers here. Stop in for their signature snowball cocktail. It wasn't the greatest drink I've ever had but worth a try. I think it's actually a frozen White Russian. The service was nothing great and I think they're all about their regular customers but no one was rude, just inattentive to strangers. Not cozy enough for me to want to stay longer but definitely worth a look see inside.

Cleo's is a cool pub in Appletown downtown, where the inside is always Christmas themed all year. They have Christmas lights everywhere, so the ambiance is dark with Christmas lights. Cleo's has a nice selection of beers and liquor drinks. Cleo's is definitely a cool pub to enjoy a drink or two with some friends or your significant other!

Last night I thought I hallucinated, because it looked like I had died under a Christmas Tree. But then I realized I was just in Cleo's Tavern! If Santa threw up in a bar, this is what it would look like. Does a Christmas Bar make any sense? NO! But that is all the more reason to check it out! Good bartender;!excellent variety of Old Fashions! I loved the Brandy O.F. made sweet, but the regular Whiskey Sour was also good! Park Rudoloh right out front, and get in here for some loud fun!!

Who doesn't love this place. Fun decor and friendly staff. Our bartender super great and shared good conversation with us including history of the place. Hard to say which drink is better - dirty snowball of a brandy old fashion. I'll take two of each.

Cleos is a great place to stop in while in Appleton Wisconsin! It is a Santa themed bar. It is filled with lights, decorations, and good energy! They have great drink options. Try the Dirty Snow ball!

This place was just down the street from my hotel and based on the yelp reviews, we just had to check it out. A Christmas themed bar? Yes, please! It's small, so I can see it getting crowded quickly, but at around 9 on a Thursday night we were able to find seats at the bar pretty easily. You can tell the place has a good crowd of regulars and a fun staff who know each other. Drinks were good. My specialty martini was $8, so not too pricey, and the bartender chatted with us a bit, sharing the history of the place. Definitely a must see when you're in Appleton.

The…read moremoment we opened the door, the creak of the original wooden floors greeted us alongside the cheerful hum of a bustling kitchen. Laughter rang from somewhere behind the counter, a sound that immediately set the tone for a visit rooted in hospitality and heart. Kailin welcomed us with a smile that matched the inviting aroma wafting from the kitchen. After guiding us to our table, we settled into the comfort of the cozy dining room, accompanied by the subtle percussion of footsteps on those charming old floors. Within moments, our server appeared, effortlessly balancing warmth and efficiency as they presented a glass of fresh-brewed iced tea, beads of condensation catching the afternoon light, and a steaming mug of coffee rich with the scent of roasted beans. We began our lunch with a bowl of tomato cream soup. It arrived piping hot, its vibrant color promising comfort. The first spoonful delivered on that promise: velvety and rich, with a gentle heat balanced by a quiet sweetness, each bite coating the palate in layers of flavor. Before we could fully finish savoring the soup, our empanadas made their entrance. Today's lineup included cheese and quinoa, chicken and cheese, and beef. The empanadas were a feast for the senses--golden, flaky crusts that crunched delicately beneath the fork, releasing steam fragrant with seasoned fillings. Each bite was a perfect contrast of textures: the crisp pastry giving way to molten, well-seasoned centers. The trio of sauces elevated the experience--the truffle aioli luxuriously earthy, the tomato cream sauce echoing the soup's comforting warmth, and a third option adding a playful zip. From the first creak of the floorboards to the last satisfying bite, the meal at Author's was a five-star journey. It wasn't just service; it was service from the heart, guided by intuition and a genuine love for the craft. In a world of transactional dining, Author's stands apart as an experience where every sensory detail is curated with care.

The rarity time off we snuck over here and could not have been more impressed! Very much a unique place in Appleton but takes you to a big city like NYC or Portland. The vibes, decor, overall environment was welcoming. Food was delicious! We got BYO omelette and Cheese risotto cake with braised beef short ribs. Both were cooked to perfection and flavors aplenty. Not overly salted which many places can be. The perfect portion size that we didn't even need to take anything to go. Honestly impressed. Even more cool is they try to source ingredients locally when they can so it's helping our community. Very excited to have found this place and will be back for more! We did try some of their specialty drinks and will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu whenever we get the chance. We came back for a second visit fairly quickly because we kept thinking about the food! We got some breakfast bowls and added protein to it. Again, this place did not disappoint in the slightest! Happy eating!

Established in 1993, Bazil's has that classic old-school pub personality that you just don't manufacture. Dark wood, vintage bar vibes, a relaxed atmosphere and a massive beer selection that gives you plenty of reasons to hang around for a while. And honestly, the beer selection is the star of the show. Bazil's is known for having one of the biggest craft beer selections on College Avenue, and it's easy to see why people make this place a destination. Whether you already know exactly what you want or you're standing there thinking, "Okay...what the hell am I drinking today?" there's plenty to explore. But what I appreciate most is that they don't overcomplicate things. Good basic pub food. Cold beer. Comfortable surroundings. No need to dress it up with a paragraph of adjectives and culinary buzzwords. I went with the burger and fries, and it was exactly what I wanted from an old-school neighborhood pub: simple, satisfying comfort food that pairs perfectly with a cold beer. And then there's the fish tank. Seriously. That thing deserves its own Yelp review. There's something ridiculously relaxing about sitting at the bar, having a cold beer in front of you and watching the fish cruise around behind the glass. It adds this weirdly peaceful element to a classic pub environment. Bazil's is the kind of place you don't necessarily go to "experience." You go to hang out. And sometimes those are the places you end up remembering most. Brews. Views. Food. Repeat.
