Met the family for an early Saturday lunch. It has been awhile since we were here last. What I do remember was the great service we received from our server. She was super friendly and interactive with our kiddos. Very complimentary of my sister in laws brand new baby. The food was delicious and very well prepared. I got the Rueben with curly fries and it was a tasty treat for sure. The kids got chicken tenders and mini corn dogs while my wife got a sandwich as well. Fun place and great meal couldn't ask for more.

Mess of Lake Perch with side French Onion Soup

We come to South Haven every year in the summer for vacation and Clementine's is always a must! There's something special about a restaurant that never changes. The tin ceilings, the wood work, the historic brick building, the line of people waiting outside, it's nostalgic! We always have to order the homemade onion rings. They are fried, delicious, and come in a 6" or 12" stack! I don't even like ranch and I like their house ranch it comes with! Another staple we always get is the Mess or Lake Perch. It's lighted dusted and pan-fried, it's perfect! We can't get perch out in Arizona so on our summer vacation to Michigan we love eating as much perch as we can! They cook it right, not overly battered. We also like the Walleye. It's potato crusted and pan fried. It's light and flaky. Clementine's is always worth the wait!

Onion rings and Diet Coke

I went in for the onion rings and Diet Coke, and they did not disappoint. I only made it through 1/4 of the tower, but it was worth it! There was a group of 4 next to me at the bar and we all laughed over each ordering the onion rings. Service was good, and ambiance was fun.

Which is better, 6" or 12"? 12, definitely 12.

Headed straight to Clementine's when we arrived in South Haven. Mid-afternoon lunch after fall color watching. Always a great experience. Great food, great service, lovely atmosphere in a sweet lakeside town.

I loved the French onion soup! It was defintely the best part of the meal. Super cheesy and flavorful. The onion ring stack was good but the rings had a very thick batter which I did not like. Overall pretty good, but I definitely recommended trying the soup. The service was pretty fast and there is plenty of seating inside the restaurant.

Hot honey chicken sandwich

There was a 20-30 min wait when we checked in with the host, which was to be expected for a Saturday. Once we were seated, we were greeted within a minute. Ordered drinks and the onion rings with ranch. They were delicious! Waiter was very attentive every time he walked by he asked if we needed another drink or anything else. I ordered the Jammin hot honey chicken sandwich and it was loaded with flavor. The bun did get a little soggy, so maybe get the slaw and other toppings on the side to prevent. It was busy so the restaurant was a little loud, but it doesn't bother me. I like the hustle.

Panko breaded butterfly shrimp with coleslaw and cocktail sauce. Most of the dinners have a piece of garlic toast included.

We are visiting family near Kalamazoo, Michigan and they wanted to take us out for dinner and were eager to go to Clementine's in South Haven. It's a bit of a drive and it was Friday, so they assured us, we didn't want to arrive after 4:30, or the wait starts to get long. They were right. We arrived around 4:45 and had to wait about 15 to 20 minutes. When we were seated our server, who was friendly and efficient so we had a good service, brought ice water and straws. She asked if we wanted any other beverages and I asked if they had raspberry lemonade. She smiled and said, "I have lemonade and raspberry syrup." So I ordered that. It was very good lemonade and didn't taste like a commercial brand to me. Our family said,"We have to order onion rings. You can get a half stack or a full stack, and for all of us, we'll order the full stack (stacked 12 inches high on a wooden dowel)." They are obviously homemade and they are battered, but they also make the correct preparation of pre-cooking the onion rings so they will hold together for each bite. Two people split the Fried perch platter and a bowl of onion soup for the side, with a second bowl of soup. One ordered the Fiesta Salad, with mixed greens, salsa and Mexican toppings and added the ground beef option. I had the Panko butterfly shrimp and coleslaw. Everything arrived in a timely manner and good temperatures for the hot and cold items. The restaurant is in the middle, more or less, of South Haven, so if you had to wait for awhile you could visit a lot of shops around the block and down the street. After dinner we made our way to the canal and beach area, set up folding chairs we brought and watched boats coming and going. We strolled down to the lighthouse and back to work off the delicious meal. I strongly recommend Clementine's is worth a visit for the food and your visit to the shoreline city by the lake.

Chicken wild rice soup

This was a nice restaurant with a good amount of seating room inside. As an appetizer, I got the creamy chicken wild rice soup: it was indeed creamy and hearty (with a lot of vegetables), but too salty. Good thing my mom had hot water at the table we could add - the flavor was good after adding hot water. For my entree, I got the potato-crusted walleye: the walleye had a nice crunchy exterior and wasn't overly greasy or heavy. It tasted fresh and it was a good size fillet. They also provided good tartar sauce to add a little tang. But this was also on the salty side. The broccoli medley I got as my side was great. They provided a generous amount of vegetables (also snow peas and red pepper) that were steamed. The cheesy garlic toast on the side was solid. I also tried some of the lake perch: it had really well seasoned breading, but this was also too salty. I'm hoping this was just the chef being heavy-handed with the salt shaker that day. I was in between 3 and 4 stars, but based on the overall experience, I'm going to round up.

Soup and wrap

We came in for a lunch around noon and had a great experience! Very interesting and unique interior decor and great service! The food was delicious, we got the cream of broccoli soup, turkey wrap, and chicken tenders with curly fries. Everything was cooked well and very good!

Always great place. You can tell by the number of people waiting. They also hire a large enough staff.

Really good food. Their lake perch was excellent. We also had a large salad that was way above average. Would certainly go back

Another restaurant in SH catering to low end, fried food aficionados. Decent for families but not memorable food (and not worth the wait).

The food is hot and you are called to the window to get your order. The burrito was kind of pricey, decent size and just ok. It's served with a few chips. The chili cheese dogs had liquid white cheese, homemade chili with beans. The hot dog was hot inside (normally I've been getting cold inside at other places) however the chili just didn't thrill me. Okkkkkkkk I'm a chili dog snob so it was just my personal preference. Both meals came with a 20 oz pop. The menu is VERY small and limited but if the food is good you don't need a lot of items. Plus the husband & wife are doing everything alone. I really really hope they succeed in this business. I give them so much credit for trying and chasing their dream. We probably will not go back because we weren't thrilled. There have been a lot of positive comments on our local social pages. I've heard their shakes are amazing - give the place a try

Wasn't a huge fan of the food provided. The sliders were extremely dry as were the kids chicken…read moretenders. Another issue I had was the entire online ordering service. My wife had ordered the food through the QR code provided on the sign, after placing the order it listed they would bring our food to the car; during the order it even asked for our location? Instead we received zero confirmation that the order was ready, as it sat outside waiting to be picked up. We were expected to rummage through a pile of orders/bags in order to find our name on the ticket; not too practical. Definitely wouldn't waste money here, especially when they market themselves to be something they aren't.
