We've tried a competitor in the area, and they just simply weren't as good (left early, needed to be micro-managed, and ultimately just didn't perform great). Dust and uncleared surfaces throughout my apartment. Never using them again. (PS: I was debating about including this part, but I am disgusted by the fact that they ran my dishwasher WITHOUT SOAP, and then put the dishes and silverware back into the cabinets. The ladies are so nice and take feedback super well (I'm particular and have asked for specific things, they're crazy accomodative!) They are quick but thorough, love when then come, my home is sparkling by the time they leave. I have changed the parts of the review after speaking with the owner twice. While our today's experience was very bad other experiences with this business have been better. We scheduled an appointment for 3 hours X 2 people = 6 working hours of deep cleaning for 1 unit (about 2000 sf feet). This has been an average cleaning time for me for all other services that we have taken from Clean PoPo and others. Just to note that we are 2 adults with no pets or kids and we keep our house in museum condition and hence this wasn't a unique day that we needed unusually lot of work with more than double the usual cleaning. Cleaning crew was 20 minutes late, they have been late before. Owner maintains that that have a window of 1 hour and it is explicitly mentioned on the website. I recommend that they notify in advance if they are running late. I understand the 1-hour window. Crew told me before starting that it will take 9 man hours to clean the place instead of 6. I agreed and told them to try their best. I am a perfectionist when it comes to cleaning and didn't want to settle for less. Our cleaning crew took 9 man hours to clean less than 1400 sq feet today which is 2/3 of the unit with some imperfections. When I called owner to settle the bill, he insisted that I continue paying for the service and it is a per hour service. I paid 320 (including tips) and at this rate I had to pay another 150 to get the whole unit cleaned. 470 for 2000 sq feet is very steep and I can't afford it and I had no idea that I will be asked to pay such high amount for cleaning either from my past experiences from them or any estimates provided by them this time. Owner called me twice after this review and he was in violent disagreement. I understand that he cares for his business. I request him to take this feedback that quality and quantity of service are factors in a per hour business. Ultimately his customers want their living areas cleaned for some predictable money and they can't pay very high expectations. I almost know that owner will refute this. I am not the only one who will ask for predictable amount for good quality cleaning and hence there will be more opinions like this in future. read more

Three women showed up early to the appointment and wound up finishing in an hour. They did an good (not great) job; the counter still had some crumbs on it and there were dust bunnies under my dining room table but they got behind & under furniture and my rugs looked great. As the day went on we realized that things had been moved (typical cleaning service stuff) but the cupboards had been rearranged. Maybe a day later I found an almond in my bathroom on one of the shelves. I found this odd but didn't want to jump to conclusions. The following day we find that a package of cookies was opened with three cookies missing... they were in the same cabinet as the almonds. I asked Ian about this and his response was, "I just wanted to let you know i spoke to my cleaning ladies to remind them they are not to touch any food at our customers as it is unacceptable and I wanted to let you know if anything was not there it must have been by accident (maybe they threw it out un-intentionally)." I'm not sure how someone throws away three cookies from a full package of cookies.. which just makes me believe that this company is untrustworthy. If they are willing to go through my cabinets and eat my food, what else do they feel they can take of mine? read more

Update review warranted! Clean Popo was receptive to my initial reaction to the lackluster $180 3 hour service that I paid for a few weeks ago. As such, they did in the end offer to come back for free. Many of the things that I requested be done were better taken care of this time around (living room was better mopped, the foyer was mopped..I guess they brought better equipment this time). All in all, I do appreciate the fact that they don't try to rush to finish everything within their 2/3 hour time slot. I've never complained about Tami & her team's professionalism and kindness- that has always remained the same. My housemates and I would re consider having them return, provided, there's an understanding that details just can't forgoed given the premium paid for the service. Currently, I would recommend the service to others, hoping no one has the same experience the first time around! read more

I requested bi-weekly service. I was told that they do an initial cleaning for $60 per hour with a 2-hour minimum. Now, I have had bi-weekly service for 5 years and few different services who have used Green products or I have provided products anywhere from $65-$75 per cleaning. A response of we don't know a price for a 750 sq. ft. apartment until we see it is unacceptable. If this is your business, you know what the price is. Also, I don't need an "initial cleaning." You'd be walking into a pretty clean home that needs bi-weekly maintenance. Nothing more. read more

I just sat down to write this review immediately after Tami and her team left. I have never seen my apartment look so clean. As a mom of a 9 month old, my apartment is almost always in shambles. I wanted to cry when I saw how amazing the apartment looked today. It hasn't looked this clean in a very, very long time. We have so many toys, I never know where to begin. They really went the extra mile and the whole experience made my day- maybe even my year so far! The very deep cleaning was affordable for about 3 hours of work. I was able to book online easily and they responded quickly to my questions and answered the phone both times I called. The team was on time and very friendly when they arrived. I wish Yelp would add half stars. Clean Popo is a solid 4.5 stars in my opinion. I have used them numerous times after being pretty disappointed with another cleaning team in hoboken. Things I love: Booking an appointment is so easy. Go online pick a time and wait for confirmation email. They arrive on time (within their window)!! I have zero time so if I schedule a cleaning I expect them to arrive when I asked, not 2 hours later or earlier which is what I struggled with with other companies. This makes planning my day around them easy. They actually clean. This may sound like a given but I hate when I hire someone to flea and get home only to find it looks nice in the big picture but move something and you realize that area was never touched. Customer service if quick to respond or if they have any issues they reach out to you right away. Things I don't love They are kind of expensive. I have a small place and it is kind of expensive but I do like that it is more that one person cleaning for the 2 hours so I know everything is getting scrubbed. I normally just pick and choose when I want them so it's always the expensive price. I want to get them monthly so I am hoping it may be a little less. I just had the best cleaning they have ever done in my place. Like I said before, I have used them numerous times, this time was by far the best. I have tried several other cleaning services in the Jersey city area that left me unimpressed until finally finding Clean Popo. I was very impressed with the amount of detail and cleanliness that this service provided my home. Speak with Ian he is very professional and fair in price. The first time cleaning was longer than 2 hours and it was to be expected since its the first time they are cleaning your home. But it was a great deep cleaning. Usualy my hubby is ocd and can always find something missing after a cleaning service. These ladies did not miss a thing. There was a big change I noticed. We had Marisol and Patty as our cleaners and they did a spectacular job! This was our first time using cleaners and we were a little anxious. However, Marisol put me at ease immediately - she explained the paying process, tipping process, how long the cleaning would take, etc. I left them to do their good work and returned to a shiny, sparkling apartment that smelled really good. I am writing this review rather late but why not! I had been using Clean Popo for 3 years almost for occasional cleaning. I never had any complaints as I was home always during the service. Also, Tammy and Marisol were always great, quick and super thorough! However, things began to get worse with time. Seems Ian does not really care for his business or retaining customers as much. I had them come in for a move-out cleaning. I told Ian I had moved out 2 days ago and needed the bathroom and fridge mostly cleaned for the new owners. So I needed two women for a maximum of 1 hour. He insisted on sending four women. They arrived on time but one of them was just standing around doing nothing and another was on the phone most of the time! I did more work than the one just standing around!! Also, I told them I did not need deep cleaning as I had cleaned the apartment already. I just needed the floors wiped and bathroom and fridge cleaned and the trash taken out. But the women spent two hours doing things that need not be done and not listening to me. In the end I was charged a hefty sum for work I didn't need and worse I pay $60 an hour for two hours ($120) for a teenager who just stood there!! I was furious. Ian apologized and offered to take a mere $45 off the bill which made no sense to me. But he never did!! What is worse is that I gave them the benefit of the doubt and hired them for my business to clean a home on behalf of an out-of-town seller (I am a realtor). But on the day of the final walkthrough, I arrived early to inspect and was mortified to see the home as is!! I called Ian and he says he forgot!! I had to scrub the home myself with cleaning supplies I had in my car. I don't understand how this man runs this business so callously. Second time I am using Nick and his team for tenant move in / out cleaning. Nick responds to all my emails and requests right away. They use BONA for hardwood floors which is all i use! The cleaning quality was much worse than expected. They cleaned only shelves in the fridge, walls were left dirty. Surfaces of kitchen cabinets weren't cleaned at all. Not all the windows were washed. I asked to wash spots on the walls - a lot of them weren't even touched. I had to spend 2 more hours myself cleaning the apartment to more or less acceptable level. But after 2 weeks of waiting , and receiving no calls from them I had no choice but to put this review out there. On the cleaning day , Oct 22nd, two ladies turned up 45 minutes late. They took an hour more for my 2 bed 2 bath apartment than was agreed. On top of that , my credit card was charged ~20% more than the all inclusive hourly rate quoted to me. Nick, the Clean Popo manager, takes calls at practically all hours. We texted late at night around 8pm to get a quote and his was by far the best price! And what's better is that the quality is top notch! First time for our first apartment! We moved in after 3 guys moved out and it was just gross! We had cloutty brown grout on the tiles of our shower. The windows were dusted in years of dust. The cieling fans and crystals we had hanging from our 8' tall cieling were just as dusty! Saida and Josie, our two clean popo reps, were so reassuring. Both had ALL cleaning supplies needed and even brought a ladder I asked for to get the crystals and ceiling fan cleaned. Funny, Quality work, and effective time managers. We had a 900 squ ft apartment, 5 dirty windows, 2 light fixtures, a gross bathroom, and a stove that needed a good scrubbing. I've been using Clean Popo for the past year or so now and have always been impressed with the services! The cleaning crew is always polite and meticulous with my living space. I have a dog who sheds tremendously, and somehow, the team always gets his hair out of every nook and cranny. I would definitely give this cleaning service negative stars. The cleaners that were sent were talking to entire time and went through everything very fast. I contacted the owner to tell him about my unhappiness with all of the following items. These were just the start of the items which were not cleaned. I basically had to clean my entire apartment over again once the cleaning service left. The following items are just some items which were not cleaned to my expectations: -I just got done swiffering one of the bathroom floors and it seemed as if the floor had not been cleaned at all. Behind the toilet was not touched in either of the bathrooms. -The molding around the entire apartment still contained dust. I understand that the molding which is covered by furniture would not have been cleaned, however I did expect that the exposed molding be cleaned. -The top of mirrors, vanitys, and bathroom mirror lights were not cleaned/dusted -I re-vaccumed the rugs and the wood floor as there were many areas which were missed. -The glass coffee table looked dusty with fingerprints all over. The bottom of the glass was also not touched I would never use this service again. The company did offer to come back and finish the cleaning, however by that point i had obviously gone back and cleaned it myself. The manager of my building in Hoboken setup Clean Popo to clean my small 1br 824 sqft apartment. I feel like the owner of Clean Popo ripped me off completely. Before moving to Hoboken to a 824 sqft apartment, I lived in a 4,000 sqft house and paid another company $200 per week to have it cleaned (including taxes, tip, etc). I figured there's no way I would be charged more than that to have my tiny apartment in Hoboken cleaned, so I didn't even bother to ask the price. Well between me not asking what they charge and my building (the W) being one of the most expensive buildings in town, the owner of Clean Popo figured he can rip me off by charging me as much as possible... and I was charged $321 the first week. Yes, my apartment was extra dirty and they spent a total of 5 hours here... but according to their web site and on Yelp they charge $60 per hour the first week... so I was overcharged by $21. Because I didn't complain about them charging me $321 the first week, they must have figured they can keep increasing what they charge me. The second week, they came for ONLY 3 HOURS and I was charged $356.86. So instead of charging me $60 per hour the first week, they charged me $64.20 per hour... and instead of reducing their fee to a fixed weekly rate the second week, they nearly doubled what they charged me to $118.67 per hour!!! To make matters worse... the third week they NEVER CAME AT ALL on Sunday because it was Easter, yet I was charged $128.40 because I refused to accept service when they randomly showed up at my apartment Saturday morning at 8AM without my permission, when I was trying to fall asleep after working the previous night!!! I am going to file complaints with my bank, Square, the BBB, attorney general, and I'll be informing Mayor Zimmer's office, after I spread the word about what happened to me on Twitter and Facebook. read more

They were on time, friendly and worked extremely hard in the challenging situation they were presented with when they arrived. (My apartment had not been professionally cleaned in quite some time.) I post this review in hope for: 1) Helping the business to improve. 2) Helping the customers like me to have a more realistic expectation when using a clearing service. I never use a cleaning service and no one has any good recommendations so that i looked it up in the internet. And Clean Popo's reviews were pretty good. I called and setup an appoint on Sunday afternoon 2PM, told them my house was just renovated and the contractors left dirt and paint that need to be cleaned. I was assured that a strong team would be sent. The crew showed up on Time and it's a 3 people crew led by Tammy. They took a look and tell me it would take them 2 hours to clean. I tell them the stuff to pay attention and then left. two hours later I got a call telling me that it's almost done. I went back right away. I was happy at the first glance as some of the stuff I mentioned are cleaned. But then I noticed the paint on my newly renovated bath room floor. Tammy said her scrub couldn't get them out. I squad down and use my finger nail to scratch one drop of the paint off. Then she complaint she would sit and clean it with her nails for the whole day. I said, they need to be cleaned or I will have to do so myself. my house was empty so that I had to borrow some flat screw drivers from m neighbor and give them to tammy to clean it without using her nails. I would give a 4 stars rating if the story ends here. I was doing some other stuff in the house waiting for them to finish. Tammy seems to be in a hurry to left and rush the crew out after I checked two of the bathrooms that finally had the paint cleaned, didn't get a chance to look at my first floor as it's still wet with the cleaning. I even paid them tips. But after I finish my other works in the house and go over the first floor. I can see the paint still on my kitchen floor. I was upset, but it's already 6:30 in the evening. I don't think I can call them back. So I ended up sit on the kitchen floor myself with the screw driver and a broom that I can find to clean the paint myself. It took me 2 hours without the proper tools. It really beat the purpose of hiring a cleaning crew if I still have to do the work myself. In summary, Clean Popo need to look into how to clean paint on different kind of floor materials. A customer should always review every single spot of the areas that need to be cleaned and don't assume the cleaning crew would be proactively to clean them like yourself. read more

My first experience with the company was decent, but I'm not pleased with my second appointment. Booked two cleaners for two hours like last time. They arrived maybe 7 minutes after their 30-minute arrival window and were distressed to find that they had to walk up to the 3rd floor. This was the first not-so-great sign for me. Throughout the service, one lady was a little nosy and asked me what several things were in my apartment (lamps, snacks, etc.). After one and a half hour of cleaning, they packed their supplies, grabbed their purses and were ready to leave, saying they were "done." I was both surprised and confused as to why they would leave 30 minutes early -- that's a quarter of the two-hour service I paid for. They said they could stay longer if there's additional work I want them to do. I immediately pointed out a few additional areas to clean. Next I found that my dining table was still greasy so I asked one lady to help clean it. She told me she had already cleaned it (yes I know, but it isn't clean and therein lies the problem), then she reluctantly came over, wiped it with a washcloth and questioned what I had put on the table because it couldn't be cleaned. She even called me over to demonstrate to me how the grease wasn't coming off. I told her it's just regular kitchen grease, which prompted her to bring out the degreaser. I found this whole exchange to be unpleasant and unnecessary. Next I went into the kitchen to see whether the exhaust fan has been cleaned. The other lady said "yes I degreased it," which was pretty rude. As for the overall quality of the cleaning, I would call it average. I don't think there was a lot of attention to detail. For example, my kilim rug was left looking wrinkled after it was vacuumed; I think most would have straighten it up after cleaning. Lastly, while I'm not happy with this second appointment, I do want to emphasize that the two ladies who came the first time were good. I remember feeling happy walking around my freshly cleaned apartment last time. I feel my two-star rating for the company is fair given the inconsistency in quality, and I really hope that this will be addressed because I do find the pricing to be more favorable than other companies. -------- Ok, editing my review to change from 2-star to 1-star. I had three sprigs of basil that I've put in a cup of water hoping to root. One sprig had grown a lot of roots and the other two are fresh cuts with no roots. The sprig with the roots is missing. They were all there this morning when I changed the water. Are you freaking kidding me? Makes me wonder what else might be missing. read more

Paid $120 for 3 awesome cleaners, Alize, Marisol, and Erica (apt is about 1300 sq. ft. 2 bed/2 bath/den). They did a fantastic job and didn't drag it out just to earn more $.
