my regular cleaning person had surgery and recommend this company. I tried getting an estimate, but the "boy" on the phone said he charged $90/hr... I repeated what he said and he became defensive... started to mansplain how an hourly charge is calculated... "well I send 3 GIRLS (they are young women, don't ever call a young woman a girl, I am confident you did not like being referred to as the boy earlier in this review) out. So I guess it is $30 dollars an hour if you want to look at it that way, but they don't get paid $30 an hour, a lot more goes into that..." I stopped him from mansplaining more... I know how it breaks down and companies come up with their hourly charge dude. so I am laughing a bit, as this is ridiculous... I really don't want to support a company that calls the workers a belittling name... it is a tough job and the people who actually do the cleaning work very hard... they are the ones who place the value on your services, so treat the right... and i am still astonished how a simple paraphrase for clarification of your own words caused you to have a meltdown... thanks, but no... I'll find a replacement that treats their employees with respect... read more

They come on time. You tell them what you want them to do. They do it well. They leave. Your house is clean.

I had called and specificially asked for a deep cleaning since my home was new and there was dry-wall and construction dust everywhere. I was told 4 cleaners would come for 2-3 hours. 3 cleaners came and they were almost in and out in an hour had I not been there to point out all of the areas that were missed. To be fair, the women told me that they did not know it was supposed to be a deep cleaning. They were also very sweet and lovely. So there was a miscommunication. But I take issue when services are committed to at the time of booking and those services aren't provided. It also put me in a very awkward position to have to explain to the cleaners what I had asked their boss for. They should have had that understanding coming in. For quick weekly cleanings, this company is probably fine. But I likely wouldn't use them again given that I like my home to be cleaned thoroughly. They have the talent, were just too rushed to do a great job. Again that's a reflection of management, poor communication and scheduling, not a question of work ethic. We've been using them for bi-weekly cleaning for about the past six months and so far they have done an excellent job. A crew of 3 cleans the house very quickly and thoroughly. On the few occasions where we had some feedback they quickly addressed it and were very responsive to our needs. We tried a couple other cleaning services before them and were disappointed with the service and quality of cleaning. So far for the price and quality we would highly recommend. read more

I was shocked to read the previous review. I had them here this week as a Groupon coupon, and they did the best job of any cleaner I have ever had. The kitchen and bathrooms were spotless and the hardwood floors were not just sprayed and swifter end, they were mopped, dried, then a spray which gave them a little shine. I had told them my priorities and they did a great job. The woman with the billing problem....did she not notice they had not billed, did she really expect to not pay for services rendered...did she think, billing error in her favor...did she offer to work with them on a payment plan? I really think this was a sour exchange and no one was gonna shine, I look forward to having them back....after my long time person "retired" I had a hard time finding someone I liked as well...but I will be sticking with this service. read more

Terrible business operators. Typical "Montclair Special" on pricing. Owner told my wife $100 an hour, which is already ridiculous, then after 1.5 hours one maid put me on phone with owner and he says they're done and it's $200. I said they've only been here 1.5 hrs, should be $150. He says yeah but I sent four ladies. I said we didn't ask you for four ladies, we usually have two for four hours and pay $150 plus tip. He says well it's $200. So fine I said I'll pay them but won't be calling back. Some people are short sighted and have no idea how to run a business like this guy. He easily could have had an easy home to clean for his crew every two weeks,, but greed and poor business skills lost him this customer. Gave two stars only because the crew wasn't bad, just the owner is dishonest and, frankly, stupid. read more

This company is great! Jack's staff has been cleaning my office for many years, and has always done a wonderful job, so I thought that it was high time to ask him to come to my home. As always, they are great. They are very quiet while working and just decide amonst themselves who will tackle each area. I can't say enough about their great service. I rented out a large 3 bedroom unit in my Montclair home, but previous tenant and cleaner had left a mess, and I was in a pinch to get it properly cleaned. Desperate, I asked my realtor and the new tenant's realtor to recommend a service because I live out of state. Each, separately recommended Rest & Relax, and offered references - one a large church in upscale Upper Montclair, the other in South End, the predominately black middle class part of town with lovely homes. All the references raved about the detailed cleaning they received every week. Much to my surprise when I called him, apologizing profusely for my time line, R & R owner was very accommodating. He sent in one of his new crews. My new tenant, a rather particular type, was astonished when she saw the PERFECT JOB they did. The price was very reasonable. I would definitely use Rest & Relax again if they are available, and I recommend them without reservation. read more

The first time they came, though very costly, they were thorough. The second time, the fee was lower but not thorough. Some kitchen surfaces not even wiped. The best part was that one of them put their hand through a decorative rice paper window while dusting - never said a word; management never called to apologize. read more

Used Rest & Relax Cleaning Service for the first time a few days before the holidays and just set them up to come in every 2 weeks! I have a one bedroom condo and travel a lot for work so not a lot to clean I but couldn't keep up with the dust which seemed to accumulate everyday. The team from Rest & Relax not only left my place dust free but my stainless steel was shiny, my windows clear and my bathroom spotless and smelling great! I have used this service on and off for 4 years (as I can afford it-as often as weekly, as infrequently as every few months). The owner and his staff are always accommodating and helpful. I have highest praise for the management office. For the cleaning, I was always satisfied with the crews and what they did. However, if your standards for clean are on the OCD side of things, you may not be fully satisfied. I would be very clear to the company about the standard you expect before you complain. If you want clean bathrooms, kitchen and floors that are done to a good standard, I highly recommend this company. read more

This is by far the worst company I've ever worked with. We had problem after problem with them. First it was billing problems. They neglected to explain their billing practices, then forgot to charge us for 3 months of cleanings. When they realized it they wanted to charge us over $800 at once. They would promise to call to schedule cleanings. I wouldn't hear from them until they showed up at my door, often at completely inconvenient times like when I needed to leave or when ne of my kids was napping. The final straw came when they were over an hour late for a cleaning. I called to reschedule because I needed to get my son down for a nap and the owner started yelling at me that I was the most "not understanding" client he had. When I tried to argue that him being late does not make me not understanding he just started screaming "shut up" at me repeatedly at the top of his lungs. I have never been treated that way as a customer. Obviously I fired them after that. And, if I was really "not understanding" I probably would have fired them after the first incident. Instead, I paid for the privelage of having each cleaning be a total headache. I would definitely recommend avoiding these guys. Since I stopped working with them, I've heard from other people in the area that they've had similar bad experiences. And, on top of all that, the cleanings we're just mediocre. read more
