After not feeling great after picking up our newly groomed pup we decided to try out Canine Design in Clinton after planning a trip down to the outlet mall. After that first visit we both agreed that this was head and shoulders above any other groomers we had utilized and felt very comfortable with bringing our pup here. He was always very well taken care of and happy upon pickup, not to mention clean and groomed! Now almost a year and a half later we now have two double doodles and frequent Canine Design every few months. Both dogs have had zero issues there and the staff is very attentive and caring during every visit. I would recommend Canine Design to anyone looking to get their pups groomed and will continue to visit as long as we are in Connecticut.

There was no way I could get my cat nor would I want to get myself into that vehicle. He happily accepted my check for $70 for doing absolutely nothing. Unfortunately the manager, Jack, who is supposed to be there to help, educate and make sure the creatures have a safe place to call home, was not helpful at all. Not sure whether he was having a bad day, but his comments to my son were unacceptable. Instead of educating my 12 YEAR OLD about how to hold and care for this gecko he was criticizing him and saying things like "there's no way I'm letting you take this" and "that was a train wreck" without an age appropriate explanation. Then I called to speak adult to adult and he pretended not to hear me. Jack, if you want the pet for yourself, buy it. If you are having an off day, take the day off. Please, please, please do not take it out on kids, that is unnecessary and inappropriate. there's no need to be rude to children, if you don't like your job, go get a different one. We previously went to another groomer and they did trim our pups grinch feet and them left her nails long...but Canine Clipper clipped her nails appropriately and trimmed up her grinch feet so she isn't sliding on every hard floor. The staff is very nice, but I was not pleased with the care provided my dog. I'm sure they're fine…read morewith a normal dog, but my dog has special needs that I felt were not taken care of. Maybe the problem lies in their definition of a "walk" and mine. I asked that the daily 30 minute activity be a walk, which they charge $25.00 for. If my dog doesn't have at least one "walk" per day, his digestive system shuts down. I walk him 3 miles per day to keep him regular, but expected at least one walk, on leash, to minimize the affects on him. I also expected a stress response but when they sent me a picture of him on day 2, I knew he was in trouble. Joe, the GM, called me after I sent an email discussing my disappointment and we had a productive conversation, and I had decided not to do this review. But then Robin, the owner called, to justify that they did nothing wrong and actually tried to blame it on my dog. That changed it for me. I'm sure if you have a dog with no special needs that they are fine, but beware if you have a dog that isn't normal. Make sure you talk to Joe so he understands what you expect from the visit and you may have a better outcome than mine.
