It's not gourmet food, but it does taste good and the ingredients are solid, for the price and convenience, it can't be beat.

Build your own burger!…read more My friend used to go to school in Fort Collins and so she really wanted to go back to this place when she was in town. You get to create your own burger or try one of their own signature burgers. Parking is street parking or you can try and park in one of the lots in the surrounding areas. We were seated right away and placed our drink orders too. Next was the fun part! My friend taught me all about the build your own burger and how we get to choose our toppings and burger and bread. But I could also have picked a signature burger off the menu. I did a classic cheeseburger with Parmesan garlic fries. I chose a single 1/3 pound beef for the patty, with a brioche bun, with American cheese, and bacon aïoli sauce. I didn't realize the bacon aïoli sauce was gonna be spicy, it had a little kick to it so I had to scrape the rest of it off, but the rest of the burger was great! The fries were nice and crisp and had plenty of Parmesan cheese and garlic. I always hate it when they skimp out on the toppings for the fries. I thought it was a little pricey, and looking at their signature burgers, I definitely could've picked one of those and it would've been cheaper. But that's on me for not looking ahead. I think if I'm back on that side of town, I would definitely try going again.

Literally the best place for dinner in Fort Collins, it rivals some Michelin spots I've been to…read more One of the best dressings on a simple starter salad I've ever had; I ate it like chips. Fresh, quality ingredients, nothing too fancy, just incredible cooking technique for a reasonable "nice dinner" price. The ambiance is small and humble, but still feels like a nice night out. Service is great, and they all look like they've been chosen from a casting agency for a small town restaurant drama. Warning if you have a vertical ID: even if you can legally drink, they might not take it and WILL lecture you.

They seemed short handed as it took until 15 minutes later for us to be able to let someone know we were there for our reservation. We were then seated in a side room of sorts. Our server came and welcomed us and snagged our drink order while we looked over the menu. A while later he returned with our beverages and took our food order. I chose to enjoy a glass of Sparkling Rosé by Gruet out of New Mexico. Lovely. The decor is an interesting mix of things. Odds and ends that come together to be their vibe. They have lots of great plants throughout the building as well. Our food arrived and we enjoyed it thoroughly. I chose to get the shrimp and grits. I added on a side of their collard greens. Those were delicious. the shrimp was well seasoned and grilled on top of some lovely, cheesy poblano grits. Two basted eggs crowned grits with a crispy tortilla strip garnish. My friend gave me her slice of focaccia toast. That was hearty. Being that we were in a side room and no one else was seated at the immediate tables, it was easy to be forgotten. We had to flag down our server to get our check so we could head on our way. I do understand how hard it is when short staffed. Overall solid beverage choices and great food. The staff is very pleasant.

Eh. Over recent years, I've had very hit and miss experiences at the downtown Austin's. Yesterday…read morewas another disappointing miss. We stopped in for a late lunch, arriving around 2. We started with a beer for my husband and a mocktail for me. The mocktail (blueberry lemonade) was simply not worth the $7 price tag. Mostly ice - filled to the literal rim of the glass. So full when I took one of my first sips, ice fell to the floor. There was just a splash of ginger beer; it could've used more but, alas, no room with all that ice! When I mentioned it to the server, she explained that's how they make them. She offered to bring me another, but it seemed clear she meant I'd be paying for it. No thank you. Next, my food. I tried the salmon burger (new to the menu, I'm told) which is actually a salmon croquette on a bun with some lettuce and vinaigrette. It's HUGE and not in a good way. The first few bites were okay, and I thought the heavily breaded effect was due to biting into the edge. As I continued eating, though, most bites felt like a mouthful of bread. I can only hope there was minced salmon in it, but the ratio was so heavy on breadcrumbs that I couldn't detect it. Not the slightest hint of pink on the inside either. I ate about 1/2, my hungry hub finished it. The flaws of the salmon burger didn't seem worth pointing out to the server after the response I got with the drink. Later, as we walked around downtown, I felt like I had a lead sandwich in my stomach. My husband had a better experience than I. His bison burger came out great. No complaints. Unfortunately for me, I think I'll just have to order very specific things when coming here now. Austin's has sentimental value for me - it's the first place we dined after moving here 27 years ago. Because of that, I keep giving them second chances after they fall short. I just wish they'd return to the days of "you can't go wrong", everything is awesome.

It is a fairly noisy place so I feel the upstairs was a little quieter and I was glad not to have been seated in one of several booths near the entrance with so many people standing and waiting on seating. Our server was nice and attentive, and the food came out rather quickly. I had an pleasant DC Oakes IPA and the Bomb Diggity hamburger with sweet potato fries. The burger was very tasty (a fat bomb) and with the fries was a substantial amount of food - I was only able to eat about half of it all. However, that burger had to be the saltiest burger I've ever eaten. Curious, I went to the DC Oakes website to find nutritional information about my meal and there is no nutritional information. A third-party website (Marcos.menu) offered the following on the Bomb Diggity: Calories: 1200; Protein: 50g; Carbs: 55g; Fat: 85g. Nothing about sodium. My wife is on a sodium-restricted diet and she knows not to order anything like this burger. But still, nutritional information would be nice to know. When do you plan on putting this information on your menu for your customers? I will return to sample more of their beer and food selections.
