Our flight from Dublin to LAX was overbooked. Aer Lingus directed us to the Carlton, which was fully booked. The Carlton directed us to the Crown Royale. Also booked! We finally arrived at the Clayton and the staff were amazing. Andrew in particular went above and beyond to make recommendations and assist with a tour and transportation bookings. I highly recommend this hotel!

This is a basic but comfortable hotel that is conveniently close to the airport making early morning flights just a bit easier. We reserved a couple months in advance but due to the St. Patrick's Day holiday it was almost fully booked and the price was astronomical. Check in and out was easy enough and the room was decent sized. Bathroom was pretty small with inadequate toiletries but it worked for the night. Mini fridge was in the room but not plugged in or cold. Beds and linen were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was not included in the ridiculous rate for our room. This probably wouldn't be my top choice for hotels unless proximity to the airport was my main priority; however, it is a solid enough hotel

Weary traveler: Hey, I have a flight out of Dublin early but I need a place to rest tonight? Travel agent: Well, you could go to the Clayton Hotel. Its okay for ONE night, but anymore than that and it will spoil your perception of Dublin. Here the real scoop... Outside it's an okay hotel, and inside it's relatively clean. Decorated with beautiful black and white photos of the Emerald Isle on the wall. Having said that, the GTFO vibe is strong in this place. They seemed to be well booked. You can note this by the full shuttles which leave for the airport every half an hour. The full elevators, the busy packed parking lots and the melting pot of guest speaking various languages. The rooms are clean [enough] to the naked eye. There is a a television with a remote in the room but not much else. The towels are quite dingy. There is no fridge, soap or even water for guests. The room we stayed in had old dilapidated sinks, but they worked. It's only right that I note some good amenities: There was climate control in the rooms. Good amount of charging ports. Comfortable beds. Bewley's (the best) instant coffee. No insects, that I could see. No stains on the rugs. Finally, I felt safe here and that is big. There seems to be a sharp decline in hotels after the lockdown. It seems as if the hotel industry is just rolling over due to AirBnB? Two and a half stars. This is not the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, but I certainly wouldn't want to go back.

Manager doesn't seem to be able to figure out how to do her job. We payed extra for late checkout (2pm) because we'd just got off a 10 hr flight. She decided to come bang on our door at 11.45 to wake us up and tell us it was time to check out. She must not be too bright because regular check out time isn't even until 12pm. Then when we went to check out we realised they'd charged us twice! Wouldn't have caught it if we'd dropped the key in the box. Huge spider above the bed, no fridge, pealing wallpaper and becoming kind of run down too. There's supposed to be a wheelchair lift to access the rooms too because there's stairs and it doesn't work.

    Chaos at the bar!!!

The WORST hotel ever! Hate it!! Complete chaos inside these doors. All of the employees are harried and struggling and openly complaining! 5 stars: the airport is right here, 24 hour shuttles (15 minute ride), 24 hour coffee kiosk, 24 hour reception plentiful vending machines One star: Reception really isn't happy to see you The bar is full of business conference people and tables are reserved for them. Good luck getting a Guinness!! Bar staff is really upset about have 2 people serving 40 people. The Italian restaurant- you needed to book a reservation yesterday to eat there today. Wtf. This is an airport hotel.... Looks like you are eating all your meals at the coffee kiosk and vending machine... WIFI does not work, does not stay connected TV programming is Shite. No Netflixaccess. Wtf. Like 40 bbc and pbs channels. Terrible. Avoid if you can!!

    Spot in the tub

We were staying here for the night before flying home. We arrived from England and there was a shuttle available to take us to the hotel. Checkin was quick and easy. The room had a double and a twin bed, a TV desk, chair, safe, and fan. The bathroom was clean but there were black spots in the tub and sink, one of which looked like a bug. The spot appeared to be from an attempt to plug a hole or that there was some ceramic chipped off but it was off-putting. The room was warmer than I would like. There was no information about how to regulate it or anything else about the hotel in the room. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean and nice. The convenience with the shuttle available made it a good spot to stay for a night. The things I didn't care for were minor overall and wouldn't mind staying there again.

The previous reviewer hit the nail on the head with most of the aspects of this hotel. To add, the hotels main restaurant The Brasserie and Bar's gastropub like styling with dark woods and comfy-cushy brass-nail head chairs offers the comforts needed. The Carvery is also there to avail you of a breakfast buffet, lunch or dinner and to round things out there's the Red Bean Rostery, located in the lobby offering a decent spot of tea or cup of latté, often served with the accompaniment of a pastry slathered in your favourite jam and Irish butter. The rooms we had, with the exception of the bathroom, could've used some updating on the decor. The decor seemed a bit dated but aside from that our rooms served our purpose well as far as being clean, spacious, comfortable and included the necessary in-room amenities. Our only negative with the Clayton Hotel Dublin Airport, is as the name indicates it is an airport hotel and is 10 mins away with no traffic via Taxi (Tacsi) from the City Centre; the heart of Dublin. During rush hour that ride could be over an hour away and can range from €20-€30 each way, which makes it pricey if you want to be in the city centre daily. Yet on the positive side, it's less than 10 mins away from the airport with the hotels complimentary shuttle. On our next visit if no other options are available, we all agreed aside from the hotels seclusion we would consider staying here again. Complimentary WiFi USD to EUR Exchange available 24 Hour Free Airport Shuttle - T1 and T2 Breakfast buffet: €11- €15 Room Service Daily Housekeeping Self and Valet Parking Fitness Centre Convenience Store - Across Street

There are a few choices for hotels near the airport, including a Radisson Blu that you can apparently walk to, but Holiday Inn has a better price point than most, provides a shuttle (currently limited because of covid--check with hotel for exact hours), and provides several amenities such as a Starbucks, same-day dry cleaning, and a 24-hour To Go cafe. I called the 800 number to make a reservation and told them I was an IHG member seeking a day use room. Unfortunately day use rooms are subject to availability and they didn't have any available, but the agent noted that I'd like an early check in on my reservation. My flight arrived at 5:40 am. The walk to the shuttle bus area was long and cold. I would strongly suggest contacting the hotel before you leave to find out where exactly to meet the bus. I winged it based on the info on their website (rookie mistake!) and I'm still not sure I was in the right area because the helpful bus driver saw me and asked if I needed the Holiday Inn Express. I was so thankful to actually receive an early check in! I don't know what I'd do if I had to wait until 3:00...probably pass out on the sofas in the lobby. The front desk people were efficient but very busy. The same story goes for the bar area and 24-hour cafe staff. This must have also been true for the cleaning staff as the floor in the bathroom needed a good scrubbing and there was a fine layer of dust on everything from the Kleenex box to the telephone. And for the first time I didn't care. All I cared about was getting over my jet lag! Food from the bar for dinner was okay for filling the tummy after a day of sightseeing. You are encouraged to go to your room after ordering and pick up your tray when they call you. Even though the hotel is fairly new, the rugs are showing signs of wear. Nothing felt super clean, but then again, I am a huge, OCD stickler about that. Service was great if not sometimes frazzled with how busy it could be. Front desk was helpful. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Food was average--not terrible and not Michelin (but I was pleasantly surprised by their brown bread and the Coronation Chicken sandwich!). Shuttle driver was stellar and explained everything we needed to know about the shuttle, meals, amenities, etc on the way over. Location just a few minutes from the airport is ideal for layovers. But in-room cleanliness didn't live up to their "Clean Promise." I would have given a solid three stars without an early check in. But I'm adding a star for being able to check in early!

We did accomplish this as the hotel is a stones throw from the airport and is within the actual airport boundaries. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms were very spacious and filled with the basics you would expect including free wi-fi. That being said, I can only give this place two stars. The first issue I had was there is no lift. Granted there are only two floors (I think) but the place is laid out like a maze and has looong hallways with many turns. It would not have been bad if it were me on my own, but with family and kids in tow each carrying luggage and myself weighted down like a pack mule, walking up stairs, making two trips having to help the kids with their luggage up the stairs, then having to go right, right, left, right, up, left, right to get to our room it was a bit much. After finally arriving at our room we were pleasantly surprised by the spacious accommodations, but the rooms were sweltering and the windows only open a small bit so people can't fall out. We did open the windows before going for a meal downstairs, but it had no real effect and we sweated away like we were in Bangkok pretty much all night. I still could have given the place a better rating even with all of that. I mean, it is Ireland and nowhere has air conditioning so not having it in the hotel here is no real surprise. Having to deal with the heat, long elevatorless treks, and having to make multiple trips also could have passed for the price of staying at a hotel in Ireland if it were not for the dreadful experience we had eating in the lounge. The lounge is what really put us all in a bad mood and turned us off the place. The menus were different from what was online. The prices were all about €4 more than we saw on the website. The food was less than stellar. You would think for €16 you would get an amazing burger, but no, you get a basic burger no better than anywhere else. The curry was nothing special even though advertised as 'best in the world', in reality it was chip shop chicken curry at posh restaurant prices. We had to send the sirloin steak back, twice, and each time they returned wrong. They brought us a well-done steak when we ordered rare, and then brought us a medium-well the second time around and threw onions on it after we had requested it without onions. After spending forty five minutes waiting for food we ended up eating it anyway due to the fact we we so hungry. The wait staff were pleasant, when you could get their attention. They were running around so much you never got a second drink nor did anyone ever check on us during the entire meal, which took about an hour and a half due to waiting between drinks and orders. If you are a business traveler looking for a room for the night, this place has lots of perk, like the location and shuttle service. If you are however with a family, again, it will cover most bases but between the hassle of getting around, wrangling kids in the place, and the abysmal restaurant services it will more than likely make you want to give some of the other hotels in the area a go next time.
