After several visits here, I've decided that the best way to order is to get large dishes to share with others. While, individual size servings are great -- there is a ton of spots nearby great for 1-2 people, but this spot does offer some nicely presented large dishes like bossam which are great for serving. I also find the seafood pancake to be a generous size with plenty of seafood and a nice crisp edge. These are definitely prepared with minimal seasoning, relying instead on an assortment of sauces to infuse the food with flavor. The bulgogi similarly, is tender and presented with lots of cabbage, more of a cold day comfort food instead of a seared version with thick sauce as you may find in other nearby locations. Definitely aim for some spicy dishes like the spicy pork bbq with mozzarella cheese if you're coming here, as the spicy options are on a different level of flavor and depth (similar to most Asian food you'll find in the area). Again, the meat is prepared very tender with an explosion of flavor. Overall, excellent food with excellent presentation and surprisingly affordable pricing. For something greatly oily, it felt uncomfortable seeing it cook in an abundance of its own oil. The restaurant's lackluster solution to all of this oil was to dunk in large pieces of bread to soak it up. This not only looked very unappetizing but was not a successful solution. Additionally, letting the gopchang cook in its own oil, left the gopchang to be "fried" crisp and hard. The bulgogi hotpot had a good amount of meat and vegetables, but was way too sweet. They gave a small bowl of chive salad to a group of 5 of us to share, which we were each able to get very small portions of. They charge extra if you want more chive salad. The price/description is different than what you see on the website or Yelp menu. Our Combo was $100 and included miso or seaweed soup, rice, banchan and four kinds of meat: marinated bulgogi, short rib, ribeye and brisket. Delicious Delicious. The banchan was tasty tasty. I especially liked the pickled cucumber and the kimchi. Some of the reviews said they were charged extra for refills on the banchan dishes. We were not. What a feast. The server loaded up our grill with brisket and would leave and come back to flip things or turn things although we were pretty capable of doing it ourselves. They very nicely cut our ribeye into bite-sized pieces with the kitchen shears and also snipped up the short rib. The meat was delicious and the banchan and rice soon filled us up. We used the green leafy lettuce to make ssambap. I also liked the sauce with the sesame oil and salt. The bulgogi was last and we had to dig deep to finish it. What I liked was that nothing stuck to the grill and nothing burned either. I've had kbbq before at other places where it was too hot and the meat was burned. Everything was cooked perfectly. There was another table where flames shot up from the grill but the staff quickly went over to help. The staff was friendly and efficient. The banchan was plentiful and tasty. The portions of meat were pretty generous and good quality. Although pricy, I feel we got a lot of food and the meat was excellent because we cooked it ourselves :). So good so good.
