I sat down with the coordinator to discuss a retinal attachment with my brother and she took the time to explain the process and approvals the doctor would need prior to the actual surgery. In addition, she had all of the necessary forms and instructions in a packet to give to me to make the process easier. My experiences at this location as well as their location in Fleming Island have been nothing short of exceptional. Easy parking, too!

After the last 3 appointments with Dr Islam, I strongly believe my review is warranted. I have been seeing Dr Islam for just over a year and a half. After just having being diagnosed with my eye condition, I started my appts with this Dr. After the first eye drop Rx not being completely successful, she suggested an eye drop that could possibly change my eye color dark. I asked if there were alternative drops that wouldn't do this......there was. Why, would the first one be suggested then?? Why? So, it's been a few series of visits, and each one has its own story but EACH AND EVERY appointment she mentions laser surgery. WHY, if my eye drops are working, would I consider having laser eye surgery?? To go down from 2 eye drops rx's to one?? That is not enough reason & there is no guarantee that the laser surgery would work, as in the case of my very dear friend. When I ask questions, she has a smile but her responses are incredibly smug. She throws me off with her smugness, because she does it with a smile, but she is absolutely smug, and condescending, with her replies. I'm really losing my confidence with her. This is the condensed version, but she has no problems setting up frequent & follow up appointments when a problem has resolved. I advised that I cannot come every week, but I will call if I have a continued problem, due to co-pays. The Dr, I'm sure did not even realize she LITERALLY shrugged her shoulders when I said that. Like, that is not her concern (high co pays). Well, I saved myself another copay by letting her know that if I have any additional issues, I will make an appointment. Did I really need to go back every week for an entire month? I have to leave from my appointments feeling like there is a piece missing to this puzzle. I'm sure I will never get the entire picture, but I will try 1 more appointment and see if I can start to have renewed confidence in this Dr. If not, I will change Dr's or change facilities. I need to feel confident with whom is providing me treatment. Right now, it's really slim.

This is something for life, and something I use 18 hours a day. The treatment itself is pain free and quick, and within 24 hours I was better than 20/20 in both eyes and still can't believe it. That way they get paid for two exams for their practice even though you made it very clear you weren't there to get your retinas checked you were there for glaucoma. They'll say oh, our Dr's handle both only to tell you to come back for the original problem. It's a scam from professionals you wouldn't expect to sink that low.

The young lady that I dealt with on my lens prescription was very informative and gave excellent customer service. The cashier was awesome, very friendly and was chatting with us, very informative also. She checked us out and we left . We went to lunch and I went to look at my invoice and I notices it did not show my vision insurance copays. I called back to the office and spoke with a nice man, named Darrin. He got my info, looked up my account and said they did not have my insurance info in their system, he got what he needed and said he would get with the optical department. I got a call this morning, he told me everything had been entered and yes, I was due a refund and he could credit my card right then if I could give him some info. He ran the card while I was on the phone with him, told me how much everything was and this $$ was my refund back to my card. He apologized for the office's error. I just want to tell the whole office staff and to Darren , Thank You for your Prompt service of correcting this error. So they sent me to another location, telling me I would have another trainer since I WASNT TRAINED PROPERLY and fired me shortly after for not knowing how to do my job properly, again because I was not trained properly. Dr. Kimberly Reardon(great doctor) was my doctor, but she does not do the surgery that I needed. So, I had to switch to Dr. Freidl. She is wonderful! She did two surgeries at the same time on my left eye first and then two weeks later, the other eye. I no longer have to wear glasses. First time since the 6th grade! I got the "Mono" lenses. You see up close with one lens and far away with the other. If I had my choice to do it all over again, I would choose lenses to distance only. I feel "MONO" lenses confuses my eyes(& brain)! It was a choice I wanted to make, so I have to live with it. I had Glaucoma(i had it done 5 years ago too)and Cataract surgeries. Insurance does not pay for the lenses(unless your on Medicare). I paid about $6000.00 for the lenses and for the surgery center fees. That bites! My re-checks went well. I am pretty content now. I am GLAD WE CAUGHT IT EARLY.

My eye was swollen, my vision started to become blurry, and it was uncomfortable. I called Atlantic Eye Institute to see if they could fit me in for a same day appointment. I was NOT holding out hope, but when I called I was pleasantly surprised they had something open that afternoon. When I arrived I filled out virtual paperwork, and then waited in the lobby until my name was called. I can't remember the nurse I had, but she was pleasant, asked a bunch of questions regarding the state of my eye, did some observations, and then walked me to an open room. Dr. Diaz came in happy as a clam. Greeted me with a nurse. I told her I was sorry that my eye looked disgusting and she smiled and said these are interesting to us. So that made me feel somewhat better. After looking at my eye, she decided to drain the stye, due to the size, the discomfort I was having. It didn't hurt, she prescribed me a steroid antibiotic cream, and made me a follow up appointment and I was on my way. I was happy and grateful they could fit me in on the same day, because I was miserable before I came in.

She said she wanted me to return for another test. Whole thing took about 30 minutes more or less what I'm used to. So we arrived today at our appointment time. It was 30 minutes to be seen for the first tests, one for my peripheral vision. Then they tested my eye pressure and vision and sent me back to the waiting room to see the optometrist. And I'm still waiting. It's been 35 minutes. By the time I see the optometrist it will have been a two hour appointment which, I can most certainly say, is the longest appointment I've ever had at an optometrist in 62 years of wearing glasses. And I'm still not sure why I'm here. I'd understand if I had some kind of eye disease or process that requires extensive testing. But this? As I said I'm still not sure why I am here. So once I'm seen it's the last time I'll come here. Don't get me wrong. The staff are nice and professional. But this is a ridiculous wait for an ordinary appointment. You'd think I was at the ER.

I underwent two separate exams, yet my prescription still does not feel accurate. Despite that, they require multiple follow-up visits throughout the year. Unfortunately, after experiencing several unexpected personal hardships that required me to reschedule appointments, I was later informed that I would be charged $400 because I was supposedly outside of their "annual window." There was no flexibility, compassion, or willingness to work with me given the circumstances. The entire experience felt more focused on billing than patient care. I would not recommend this office to others.
