The staff is experienced and knowledgeable and do a tremendous job with everything. I felt very safe trusting my eyes to this team. While maybe not as cheap as some other Lasik spots, I'd rather pay a little extra to have one of the most reputable in the business do my eyes. This is something for life, and something I use 18 hours a day. The treatment itself is pain free and quick, and within 24 hours I was better than 20/20 in both eyes and still can't believe it. I indicated I would try. The next day I called the office to get the exact address (for map quest). Their system was automated and informed me a I would receive a text with the address to the phone number I was calling. At that time, I copy/paste that address into maps. On my way to the appointment, the office called asking if I was coming to my appointment. I indicated I was in the car and on my way. Upon arrival to the text address, I realized the text from the Dr's office was incorrect. The Dr. office had sent me to the incorrect address. I called the office and that is when the receptionist told me they needed to reschedule (I still had 11 minutes to make my appointment). Needless to say, this office has the the poorest customer service, horrible communication and based on my experience had no concern for my time (only the Dr. had to go to lunch.......almost a direct quote). I admit I was heated in my talk with the receptionist. As I had wasted 30 minutes driving to get to my appointment. I would not recommend this office to anyone who values their time as much as I do.

Despite not purchasing the Costas at Hathy, they were able to get Costa to provide a replacement pair and swapped out my lenses at no cost. I primarily worked with Nick, who was knowledgeable and super helpful. The entire staff was friendly and did a great job. They also have a large selection of prescription sunglasses from Maui Jim, Costa, and Bajío. My overall experience was excellent and I'm definitely coming back to purchase my next pair of prescription sunglasses.

I went to the Emergency Room last night for a vitreous hemorrhage. The ER doctor referred me to Dr Downer, advising me to let them know I was in the ER and I needed to be seen by him today. The person answering the phone was unconcerned with that and went straight to who my insurance was with and then told me she wouldn't schedule me without a referral. I'm retired Air Force, have excellent health insurance, and can get a referral easily from the Naval hospital nearby. Instead of scheduling me while I worked the referral part, she refused to do anything and wouldn't listen. She was curt, argumentative, and unfriendly to an almost hostile degree. I will go downtown Jacksonville before I go to this place which was right down the street. I'm thinking doctor offices like this have more business than they need, and clearly that's all their patients are- just another person to make money on. There is zero concern to be helpful for patients at this location. Incidentally, my referral came through while I wrote this review and I'm now calling an eye surgeon who has a staff that is less abrasive.

I have been going to Bowden Eye Associates for a few years and I have never had any real problem…read more(aside from a scheduling issue -- which was worked out.) Dr. Robben is an amazing doctor. I've been seen for everything from near sightedness to a scratched cornea (damn that hurts!!) he & the staff have always been so helpful & caring. I've been seen here and at the location off 210! Both are equally as good!
